    The homemade wave mold is absolutely bonkers. I hope you were able to get all off in one piece without any tears (it sure looked like you did)! I can imagine it’ll make future crazy wave dioramas a heck of alot easier!

    • @mandi8345
      @mandi8345 2 года назад +2

      Fabrication Pro Tip: They could have made a reusable mold by making it 2 part. But its a bit of a long process. First youd use WED clay and basically a cheese cutting string (we use guitar strings, the tool looks like a garrote wire used to choke people) to make uniformly thick slabs and cover the whole thing with them. This makes a gap they youll fill with silicon later. After its covered in the clay, cover it in fiberglass. Make some ribs with thin strips of clay to lock the soft inner 'face tool' into the fiberglass later too. Once the fiberglass is cured, peel out the part and the clay (DO NOT DAMAGE THE PART YET!!!) and clean up all the clay and surfaces, silicon hates other stuff as it cures. Then put the hard outer jacket over the part (BTW this is a million times easier if you make a fully enclosed mold. you basically do all these steps twice front and back) and pour your silicon into the gap where the clay was, and wait for it to kick. Another Pro-Tip: forget the paraffin and hexane silicon release, Dawn dish soap works better and is WAY cheaper, just watch out for brush strokes leaving surface textures. Then once its kicked remove the hard jacket, then peel off the soft jacket! TADA! Now you have a mold of something that might contain under cuts which would lock up a hard mold like fiberglass and bondo, but peels right out of the soft silicon jacket! Just dont damage the silicon in the fine detail places. Youll never be be abel to repair it.....

    • @Sarah-ic4yu
      @Sarah-ic4yu 3 года назад +15

      @@epiccheeseman42069 as somebody who does both digital and material art (painting) I will say that there is a significant difference in my attachment to each work. When I make digital art, I can easily reverse mistakes, make copies in case I want to try something out and don’t like it, and generally feel safe in the knowledge that I can easily reproduce something. With my paintings, if I have something good and end up overworking it or changing something and don’t like the result, there’s no going back in time. Sure, I can try to replicate what I had done, but it’ll never be quite the same and I don’t have layers I can delete or an undo button to go back and see what I did. Most significantly though is the pain I feel about the wasted materials, like the canvas that will sag under the weight of all the layers of paint if I keep working at it and the amount of expensive ass paint I just wasted doing that. Digital art is different in that you have the investment in the technology, then you can create for free without thought of wasted materials. That’s what makes my paintings feel more precious 🤷🏼‍♀️

    Even if the massively out of scale spinosaurus doesn’t get them that wave will mess them up. Very cool creation

    The shape of this skull is unmistakable! :D You used Gojira as a base template and prolonged his snout, adding the sail as well, didn't ya? Even with all of that - great freakin' job! Enjoyed watching this!

    The diorama is a masterpiece, but another thing that keeps me addicted to your video is the contrast between the dark atmosphere and the delicacy of your hands, everything you pick seems having no weight at all :0
