I worked at the Monitor Channel....I started there in 1985 when it was The Christian Science Monitor Reports. And nearly bankrupted the church if they didn't stop the channel.
When Mort Sahl spoke out against the phony Warren Commission report, (and worked with Jim Garrison's team), the US National Security State had him banned from performing. This 1991 gig was very rare. Woody Allen saw him during a rare appearance in NYC in 2001 - was blown away and worked to get him gigs. That's what finally put him back into the mainstream. He was so amazing that his shows in NYC's "Joe's Pub" were standing room only. The US National Security State is the 4th independent (and non-elected) branch of government. The other branches totally acquiesce to them. No one challenges these guys and they run the world like James Bonds' Spectre! Adlai Stevenson and Hubert Humphrey were actually fans of Mort Sahl. Humphrey stating that "whenever there is a political bloat, Mort sticks a pin in it." Sahl considered Ronald Reagan one of his closest friends. Nevertheless, the US National Security State never forgave him for speaking out about their little charade in Dallas (Nov 1963). Even to this day, the US National Security State illegally withholds JFK assassination documentation (there was law ordering their full unredacted release long ago); manages the international drug trade; promotes endless war; wrecks the world with their economic hitmen and Phoenix Programs; and in the process thoroughly corrupts the mechanisms within the system.
