Thank u for showing the differences in movie, cheese, business. I really like this video format. It was set up perfectly with u arrive at the theater and what time is movie, how much are tickets, if u want a snack, etc. Thanks!
Some of these I learned from my customers. This is super helpful. Once the theaters open up again I wanted to be able to communicate better with my Deaf and HOH customers coming in. It's already going to be harder for them dealing with everyone in masks. But I hope this helps me better serve them and their needs.
I took ASL my senior year of high school a few years ago and I, unfortunately, forgot a good chunk of it. I've been working at a movie theatre for almost three years now and have finally taken the initiative to learn movie theatre specific signs so that I can better communicate with deaf people who come into the theatre instead of writing stuff down and gesturing and pointing and hoping that they can read lips well enough. So thank you for this video. Definitely gonna rewatch it periodically to make sure I'm remembering everything. :)
I watched this video several months back. On ocassions I will pull up saved videos to refresh my v8cabulary. Just want to say you are simply the best or at least my favorite. Thank you for giving of yourself.
Im so glad I just found this amazing tool!!! As my children and I embark on learning ASL with Spanish. Such a cool tool as I plan a fieldtrip to the movie theater !!!! Thank you for this!!!
I started working at the movie theater and I have had some customers that use sign language. I do know some basic signs but this has helped me tremendously thank you so much
omg yesss this is perfect, i recently got an asl customer at my theatre and rly wanted to help her in asl its so cool that you have this video thank you!
This is gonna help me a lot. There have been a couple of people who sign when they come to watch a movie and I wanted to learn to communicate with them to make their experience better when coming to see a movie
As staff at a preforming art center, we often have deaf or hoh patrons. Could you make a follow up video with some more theatre phrases? Like, welcome to the theatre/show. This way to your seat. Aisle X, Row #. There will be a 10 minute intermission, 15 minute. Program. Matinee. Enjoy the show. etc.? Thanks for making these videos!
Thank you so much for the kind message! I'm thrilled you find these videos useful :) Let me know if you have any special requests! Hi Meredith, My name is Amber Rivas, I wanted to thank you because I've learn ALOT from you and I'm taking ASL class at my College, This is my 3rd Semester And I'm in chapter three right now, I'm planning to get a job where I do Sing Language to others and a bunch of crowds that are deaf because I could get paid really big and that's why I'm taking ASL class for my Future one day=)
Hi Amber, thank you for the kind message! I'm so glad you find these videos useful. It's great that you are learning ASL and that your college offers courses. It's great that you want to be an interpreter, though I caution you not to go into the field for the money (you'd likely get paid hourly - not per person in attendance), and the goal should be first and foremost to facilitate communication! You'll learn more about it in your Interpreter Training Program; I do wish you well! Keep up the good work.
I just found you a few days ago and I absolutely LOVE your channel! Been binging on your videos! I'm in Los Angeles, California. I'm trying to aim to become an ASL interpreter someday soon. Thank you for being influential in my journey!!!!!! ⚘
Hi Meredith! I've been learning so much ASL just from watching your videos over the past few weeks. Thank you so much for your dedication and creating such great content for all of us to use and practice.
Thank you for this. I just started working at a movie theater and I had a group come in and it was hard to communicate so with this I’m really hopeful this helps
Yay! Thank you for the kind message! Glad you find these useful. If you like my teaching style, subscribe for free lessons via email at aslmeredith.com/newsletter :)

I never thought you'd make this video!! I pieced together words from seperate videos to makes sentences and they understood me, and were very surprised I signed so well!! Thank you so much for finally making this video!!
My pleasure! Apologies it takes me so long! I'm working on getting a more consistent schedule and making my way through all the requests :) glad you were able to find what you needed, and please don't hesitate to keep the requests coming!
I just love your videos. I know I keep on saying that. Thank you so much for these, I've signed up for your newsletter. :O) I did see Halloween (I'm a huge fan of the movies) but didn't care for this one. I did by Mama Mia, and I've leaned to sign one of the songs. :O)
I so appreciate your continued comments! Helps me know I'm staying on the right track :) Ah, Mama mia! I saw the first one, not the more recent sequel.
Hi. Thanks for making these videos. There is a deaf person at the church I attend and he really wants to fellowship but only 1 lady knows sign language. It was put in my heart to try to learn so he doesn't feel left out during fellowship! Was wondering if you know any bible signs that you could teach?
Thank you for sharing! It's great that you're learning to better communicate with your fellow congregant. This other video shows a religious-signs dictionary I recommend: ruclips.net/video/BDzKSKY_kQg/видео.html Also on Instagram @RingsandCoffee often *signs* Bible verses and makes really neat connections between ASL and scripture.
I work at a movie theatre and now that I have to wear a mask I feel even more disconnected to my regular guest who’s deaf, I’m hoping this will help with my communication. Thank you!
I made an ASL channel (inspired by you 😁) it’s called ASL Cat, I love your channel so much I’ll learned so much from you! You are an amazing teacher you are awesome
That’s cool! I make some ASL Videos too, but they’re mixed in with my other videos. I think they’re more for beginners, though, but please do watch them!
Thanks for the kind feedback! Glad you find these videos useful. Thanks, too, for the request! The sign FLIRT is covered in this valentine's day video -- it's the last sign taught :) ruclips.net/video/3C5VZCxWRQU/видео.html . Hope that helps! If you have other requests, feel free to let me know. Thanks!
They offer pretzels, nachos, hotdogs with toppings How would you say that as well? I really been enjoying learning more AS from you (love there different angles) I've taken classes many moons ago (20+ years), before they closed the Deaf, Hearing and Sign Language Center (received a book) and two Certificates beginning and intermediate. Later happen upon a program called Signing Time with Alex and Leah (narrated by Rachel Coleman Leah's mother) on Pubic TV (PBS) a few years back(until they retired the series), so basically, I'm trying to learn anyway and where I can. It has helped me on my job,at Church and other places... Thank you for sharing with us... It should be available to take in all schools across America as a second language it shouldn't be a foreign language... Anywho Bless ya.
Hi Wanda, thank you for your comment! I'm writing down these additional food signs for future videos about food :) thanks for the suggestions! I'm so glad you enjoy the format of these videos for learning. It's great that you're returning to your ASL studies.
