What i love about this song is cole can't really sing but the pain in his voice is trancing

For some background info. Cole had just released his 3rd album around the time of the verdicts of Michael Brown and Eric Garner's deaths where the police officers were cleared of any wrong doing.
This was his only live TV performance to promote the album and he chose to perform this song rather than a song off the new album.

Best part about this song is he specifically made it jus for this performance. He could have sang a song in his album and promoted it but instead he used the platform to spread a message that needed to be heard. True legend

What made his performance special is that instead of performing a song off his album (promoting), he used the platform to bring awareness...he talks about writing this verse the day before performing it in his first interview with Angie Martinez...which is a must watch as well
One of his best live performances, there's an interview where he said he performed most of the beginning of the song with his eyes closed. He wasn't sure how the crowd would react to the song and towards the end when he spat. He said he was amazed that everyone was locked into what he was rapping about.
