i have to say that switch is a console i dreamed off since psp. Portable gaming is something i always was fascinated by and i do believe its the next step in console gaming. switch is probably most desirable (by me) console i have ever seen, and is a one console that when i pick up i wont be able to put down. as much as i like ps4 i have to agree that sometimes i dont trun it on because i just dont have a time. so i end up playing some hyrule warriors on 3ds. here i will be able to play bigger games like breath of the wild, and just take it with me. its amazing and i think nintendo made a good move
You're right, portable gaming is awesome and the Switch is the next step. All I wanted was a home console that I could bring to my friend's house easily, well, Nintendo fulfilled my dream xD
GabzAugusto #MVCAO but what makes it amazing is that it's natural to play zelda on the go. it's built with playing games big or small on the TV and on the go.
Yes i agree I truly feel that nintendo nailed it. The switch isnt suppose to be another xbox or playstation. It is a whole new world of game play and accesories
Michal Jakubowski Yes, also PC and console gaming is so time consuming but hand-helds are easy to pick up and drop also you can take it anywhere you want but console and pc gaming is so time consuming also i dont really sitting in one place at long play sessions
Switch is the perfect second console, wether you already own an Xbox/PlayStation or PC the switch is unique enough to justify its purchase, the fact that it's portable is honestly revolutionary, we finally have a portable gaming console that can actually play real triple a games, hats off to Nintendo, yes there are issues with lack of games and some people experiencing issues at launch but this really is a step forward from them
Although I somewhat agree, consoles are defined by the games they allow you to play on and right now atleast, the Switch only has a couple of interesting titels worth looking at, which makes it hard to justify the purchase. I have the Switch Day One because I'll just go with the risk that I hope that during this and the coming years, the games that will be coming to the Switch will make it worth having it for sure
My favorite console has always been the 3DS for both the mix of smaller and larger games, as well as the portability aspect. This feels like a fair successor having access to both indies and AAA titles. Yay
Like any console when it's just a few days out. I bought a xbox360 elite just when the slim version was out, better stay with the stable older version than risking more money. I'm very proud of that decision; it was the first time I waited for something and not compulsive buying -.- now to wait for the switch to be cheaper and to have the money xD
Well, 3DS is a handheld, not console. But I guess you could say that. I would consider consoles to be those you can play at home with a bigger screen. The Switch is really blurring the line because being able to be played outside unplugged qualifies it as a handheld, but at the same time, it can be played on a bigger screen and is powerful enough to play big titles with good graphics. That's also why I love my Switch
The thing is, would you really rather the Switch be a PS4/Xbox One clone so that you have three very similar devices that can only be distinguished by a few exclusives? The Switch is creating a console niche of its own where it can be seen as supplementary to your other modes of gaming, whether it be PC or PS4/Xbox. Imo, it's obviously not directly competing with them and I'd say their way works seeing as its launch title is the greatest reviewed game of almost a decade.
Michael Kao ya I agree. I love that Nintendo is different. The Switch is a beautiful device. And as long as they keep up with a steady stream of top notch games (doesn't even need to be Third Parties imo) then I see this being a very successful console. Being able to take Zelda, Mario, and other great games with me is awesome. The screen is sooooo beautiful!
"If I only have TEN MINUTES before the train's going to leave, I can actually turn this on and start playing TLOZ: Breath of the Wild for FIFTEEN MINUTES" -NihongoGamer Yeah, that seems right. Nothing weird going on there.
I have a Ps4 as my home console and my Switch is my handheld (that I play on my TV if I want to or need to charge on the dock.) What I'm having trouble with is people talking about it's launch lineup, as if the PS4 launching with knack was the greatest thing since baked cookies; don't get me started on Xbox one. The Switch Launched with what is being widely regarded as "possibly" the greatest game of all time. How can you argue against that? Zelda will due until more titles come out in the spring and summer, then you get splatoon 2 and Mario odyssey in the 4th quarter ( expect some banging bundles too , trust me. black Friday will be ridiculous.) also I know there are others who do not share the same sentiment but I'm really hoping the next Madden and call of duty end up on the SWITCH even if it's a less powerful version than the xbox and PlayStation.
Wilson Morel I've been playing video games since I was 4 years old and I'm 34 now. I own every console and a high-end PC and I have played thousands of games in my lifetime. I can honestly say that this new Zelda is one of the best games I have ever played if not the best, and I haven't cared for a Zelda since Wind Waker.
That's because the west (my home) is stupid, lol. If it isn't battlefield, Call of Duty, or Madden, AND if the tech doesn't look amazing in 4k HDR, then the general gaming public doesn't care... Too many talk trash and don't buy portable products because the systems don't have graphical capabilities of a ps4 pro with the battery life of an iPad pro. The vita never got a fair shake here, even tho the system is very fun, and has MANY amazing qualities. It is now only marketed as a way to stream ps4 games from your home console, which it only does well when if have you have a high quality ISP... even then the streaming only works best when you are on the same wifi as your ps4. I'm glad the switch is doing well so far, I can only hope that the system continues to get high quality 3rd party titles (which is why I thought that nintendo should've stopped supporting the 3ds and made the switch it's sole console moving forward)... if it doesn't get that support, then the west will shun it and it will go the way of the vita as well. But, Nintendo will always have my support! After all, as a gamer, the more options we have to play, the better for us all!
I loved your point about the co-op part. I've missed "couch co-op" and when I got my PS4 last year I was REALLY disappointed by the lack of games that offer that. So I'm pretty stoked to have that in my Switch.
You hit a lot of points that really resonate with me. I love my Vita, but with them trying to push "console quality" on it, I found that I played on my 3DS (more recently) because the games were easier to pick up and play in short bursts, while I felt like I wanted to sit and spend a good chunk on my Vita which I would rather do on a console. Especially with most recent releases coming to both Vita and PS4, I'm gonna pick up the PS4 version.
I can understand what you mean, because I know there are dockable laptops for years (mainly business grade laptops). Also, for some reason, I imagine you having a coffee sponsor for a few episodes of this series.
This video came across my suggested video feed. I must say. I LOVED it. I went ahead and subscribed as well. Really like the music, the coffee shot was oddly relaxing and you have a great discussion/presentation style
Dimas Melkis that depends on how much you care about your table, lol. Many companies make things you can use to hold your switch so it can charge while you play in tabletop mode
Just found your channel, but I want to say that I already enjoy your content a LOT. (This is the first video I've seen.) Excellent blend between informative commentary and coffee-sippage. :P Wish you the best and looking forward to new videos from you.
"The Switch is like a laptop." - This surprisingly made a lot of sense to me. I can imagine the next Switch version having thunderbolt 3 dedicated large eGPU in the "cradle". The tech we have currently would've blown my mind 10 years ago :D
Honestly, how quickly this thing works is something I dont hear people talk about nearly as much as they should. Going out of sleep mode, into a massive game like Zelda is instant, and if you want to play a game, you just pop it in and play. NO mandatory hour-long installs like the other consoles. Thats one of the things I appreciate the most right now.
Watching your coffee steep is extremely calming and I really enjoy these "While I'm Making Coffee" episodes, they help calm me down and help me chill out.
Switch strategy reminds me of Microsoft strategy with their 2-in-1 product (since they invented a new category with Surfaces line). People loves the idea of versatility of the device. And the Switch really tries to create a new market of casual gamer who wants to have similar experience with powerful console but not necessarily want to have the console. Nintendo knows it's a tough market in the powerful console segment with ps4/xbone as the main contender. And i have to say the execution with the Switch is surprisingly well and promising.
Good point on console vs portable gaming. When gaming on the go, you need a system that you can play for a short amount of time. Cell phone games are made just that way, too. The Switch, Vita, and 3DS all have sleep functions as an alternative to make sure their games can safely have more content on them without making you have to play them for more than a few minutes.
Those situationers you gave were so spot on :(( "Hey, we're leaving in 10 minutes" 30 minutes later, nobody is ready too leave. Loving my Switch so far despite some of the launch flaws
The portability of the Switch is quite underrated. What I love about it is I can play from my living room up until I lie down on my bed or if someone wants to use the tv I can just step out and still continue playing. Or I can just use this thing in portable mode all the time.
This has got to be the most sensible Switch video i've watched. The Laptop analogy made perfect sense!! It made so much sense that it actually made me subscribe to your channel. Haha! I'm still a future Switch owner, gonna pick one up probably in the next few weeks. Cheers!
i miss good old GBA days so so much. and NS gives me that hope and feel. that is why i have n3ds as a super SONY fanboy. i just dont like turn on ps4 to play games, i have very powerful pc. i just want something unique. NS is the one, at least for now. 11:30 exactly, that is why i love portable gaming, (phone games are just joke, they are just timekiller not gaming)
Just stumbled across this while editing a new zelda vid, and this is actually adorable. Coffee enthusiast and gaming go hand in hand! Personally I'm grinding Colombian and steam my own milk. But anyway. Subscribed.
It's called couch multiplayer... where multiple people playing a single game together on same couch... It was like that in NES/MD/SNES era... but everything changed when internet attack... you know, at that era, when we play split screen multiplayer, people always thought it must be nice to play multiplayer on a single screen with people across the ocean... but now we want back to couch multiplayer...
Agree. A grey area between heavy game console and mobile game has been empty for a long long time and few people really care or understand. Now Switch remind me, wow, there is a possibility.
This is the second video of yours I've seen and wow I just really love the asthetic of your channel and editing. Your content and style is very interesting like and subbed
I really love your videos, i like seeing the point of view of gamers outside of the u.s and your videos are informative and you are very entertaining to watch! Keep at it!
The switch is crazy flexible. Like I'll be lying down in the library in between classes and just practice PP Tetris in handheld mode, then after classes I'll get boba with my friends and we'll just split the joy cons and do rounds in tabletop mode. Then I'll get home and some friends are over then I just place my switch on the dock that has four GameCube controllers connected to it then bam, we're playing four player PP Tetris. I get so much out of the switch just with the core package, one game, and some old controllers, it's pretty bonkers
i really like this While Im Making Coffee series. Whenever you start to make your coffee I would make one at the same time and watch your reviews or rant or whatever. Because I cant drink coffee too much,(overly sensitive to caffeine) I would make just a little like half a cup, sip it little by little while watching your review and somehow it made me feel like i have drink a whole glass of coffee.
You talked about it a little but I think it's best feature is the fact you can play multiplayer, on the go, with a single unit. You don't have to get lucky finding another person who happens to have one. You can play with up to 4 other people (if you have a couple extra joy-con with you)
Coffee AND VIDEOGAMES?! DIRECTLY FROM JAPAN IN ENGLISH?! I'm more than happy that this appeared on my newsfeed (I can't remember if it's called that). Instant subscribe xD
what I love about the switch is I find myself taking it places I wouldn't think to take it with me its bound at my hip. its becoming a problem in life because its becoming a devices I use more then anything else I like my xbox one and pc but you cant take either on the go and to be able to play quality games on a portable is a dream to a reality type feeling. more importantly the gameplay and the 1st party content I cant beat the value.
NihongoGamer Great vídeo! :D Bull's eye for people like me who love coffee and videogames. Just a tip: rinse the filter before adding the coffee and discard that water. That will remove the bleach flavor from your coffee ;)
The desktop replacement laptop category is still alive with the many gaming laptops coming out these days. Nothing beats having desktop power in a mobile form factor for me. The newer technology is always making things better.
2:40, this actually is a really good point in is the main reason why one could argue that Nintendo is competing with Sony and Microsoft. They are not often competing directly in terms of audience or sales of their console, but rather competing for the attention of developers who are often unable or unwilling to make games for each and every console available. If developers choose to work with Sony and Microsoft, that often means they probably won't be working with Nintendo, which in turn means less sales and less of an audience.
Really cool concept of talking about coffee and gaming (tech) I think you have a wonderful Idea my friend that can really move you forward. Wishing you luck my fellow youtube friend.
Watching a compilation of the switch having issues kinda scares me (non stop beeping, weird pixels, games not working, the rubber parts on the dock create marks on the screen, etc..)
You found the right words to describe how i feel about starting a big game without knowing how much time I Will have to play. I was moving away for that kind of game for the exact same reason! Hope with the switch will be different. Great vid!
This will be the first Nintendo system i have owned since the game boy advance SP. Can't wait for mine to come, i did a big order and it's been delayed via amazon, I've got Zelda Special edition, case, screen protector, pro controller and charging controller for the joycon's. Really looking forward to it! Congrats on yours i'm a new sub. Thanks for this!
45min-1 hour is your definition of a good, quality chunk of gaming time?! For main RPGs like FFXV I only start them when I clear up a whole week at least and make sure we have enough coffee to keep us up for most of it. hell, I spent 30mins on the title screen alone "watching the sunrise." and yesss more coffee videos on switch please! when you've noticed any more of these annoying issues or just details you would only notice after using it for a while
Yasumi Ⓥ I agree with you However in my personal opinion Final Fantasy just plays in an higher League than Zelda does. Zelda is more suited for casual Gamers. You have no set main goal it is fairly easy to understand and no matter which direction you go you may end up finding a shrine and getting into it again. Final Fantasy may be far more complex for the average Nintendo costumer (those who bought a wii) So that beeing said I agree that the concept does not apply to all games as you mentioned but I assume that Nintendo exklusive title may just be designed so that one does not get lost that easily. Also Nintendo is known for Taking the Player by the hand. :D Hope you did not take my comment as a critique as I was just adding a to me important point. Have a Nice day~
MagicMawile You do have a point, FF is alot more complicated then the Zelda series. But in terms of it for being for more casual gamers I can't fully agree with you. In BoTW's case, the game is hard. I'm not a casual gamer, but I still had trouble with the game. Also some of the puzzles in the game are pretty complex. In terms of casual players, it's not a normal Zelda experience, but the other games I can agree with.
They still exist. Pretty much any Gaming laptop (or any laptop) that has a 17" or larger screen falls into the Portable Desktop category. 17" laptop is just too large to be lugging around constantly. Its why most laptops sold are in the 13"-15" size.
Nihongo "and I realize this is probably giving you guys a bit of stress that im putting my fingers prints and the screen" If only you knew by plonking the switch in the dock can cause scratches to the Switch... R.I.P OCD.
Damn you are quite rough and hands on with your switch putting the switch in and out the dock like that. It was difficult to watch lol. I'm paranoid about scratching mine.
I can't wait to get a switch, but what u were talking about with the vita, I can just hit the home button while im playing a game, put the console to sleep. then can pick up and continue off from where i was no problem. Not sure what you were saying there, its easy to do on the vita. anyway great vid, coffee looked good too! :)
never knew watching coffee brew could be so therapeutic.
i have to say that switch is a console i dreamed off since psp.
Haruhi Suzumiya yep, Switch is the best of both worlds, it works great on the go and on the TV. Nintendo nailed it
Yes i agree I truly feel that nintendo nailed it.
Switch is the perfect second console, wether you already own an Xbox/PlayStation or PC the switch is unique enough to justify its purchase, the fact that it's portable is honestly revolutionary, we finally have a portable gaming console that can actually play real triple a games, hats off to Nintendo, yes there are issues with lack of games and some people experiencing issues at launch but this really is a step forward from them
Wei. we will know whether it is really a revolutionary console or not once multi-platforms games all come to the switch, even the downgraded ones
Please never end this series. I love this lol
The switch is definitely a step in the right direction for inexpensive gaming on the go and at home
well it isn't inexpensive, but it is a step in the right direction.
switch is not expensive at all.
hendry caesar I hate that people in other countries have to spend 2 months of pay just to enjoy what we get to enjoy... it's terrible 😔
LaylaCow oh God... don't get me started...
I just wanna live through this term
Finnaly the new episode of "While im making coffee" :3
BadassGoose relaxing :3 I really like it.
My favorite console has always been the 3DS for both the mix of smaller and larger games, as well as the portability aspect. This feels like a fair successor having access to both indies and AAA titles. Yay
Magic Mason the 3ds is a juggernaut and it's well supported while the switch just needs some tweaking.

Great points :)
Michael Kao Bayonetta 2 was also very highly reviewed
I would rather have a console that plays both GTA/CoD/MGS etc and Nintendo games than having to buy two different systems.
well, actually its the same as you told in the video :D
Michael Kao ya I agree. I love that Nintendo is different. The Switch is a beautiful device. And as long as they keep up with a steady stream of top notch games (doesn't even need to be Third Parties imo) then I see this being a very successful console. ShockTheMaven Well it's overrated, but most zelda games are, so what else is new?
Sad that Sony drop the ball with Vita
I've heard that games are still being released on the Vita. I thought it was done for a while ago. Still hanging in there. :')
John Rivera mainly in Japan, Sony America just dropped the ball
Vita is doing good in Japan, just not a suitable product for the west.
That's because the west (my home) is stupid, lol. If it isn't battlefield, Call of Duty, or Madden, AND if the tech doesn't look amazing in 4k HDR, then the general gaming public doesn't care... i like this content good shit fam
sammeeee just found this channel and im glad that i did
I'm thinking that Switch is what Nintendo's been needing for awhile now...I still love my soon to be long forgitten WiiU though 🤓
I can understand what you mean, because I know there are dockable laptops for years (mainly business grade laptops). Also, for some reason, I imagine you having a coffee sponsor for a few episodes of this series.

"While I'm making coffee" is an absolutely genius title for a show!
actually, you can play it on table mode while charging by making a hole in your table....... which does not sound like a good idea
Dimas Melkis just use a tablet stand...
Dimas Melkis or use one of those stands for painting from Daiso... only a buck and 50 cents
Dimas Melkis that depends on how much you care about your table, lol. Many companies make things you can use to hold your switch so it can charge while you play in tabletop mode
I already knew all you talk about yet I enjoyed this video so much like the coffee thing is so relaxing dude
One awesome thing in winter where I live we have frequent power outages with the switch my game play wont be lost.
I really like that analogy from PC and Laptop, to classic Consoles and the Nintendo Switch.
I could stay here to watch your videos all day ;)
Honestly, how quickly this thing works is something I dont hear people talk about nearly as much as they should.

I've watched a ton of switch video's , and I think this is my favorite. Subbed and now off to make coffee.
keep up the awesome vids man love this style " casually brewing coffee " :)
9:40 funny, you said that right as I was thinking "Oh god, his fingers are all over the screen!" haha. Great video.
i just stumbled across this video to watch the switch, but had no idea I was gonna stay here to watch the beautiful coffee craftsmanship
It's so good to have someone else wrap up your exact thoughts and present it in a nice way. Thanks as always!

While watching this one, going through the making coffee playlist, I get genuinely excited about seeing the new kettle in the next episode

Agree. A grey area between heavy game console and mobile game has been empty for a long long time and few people really care or understand. Now Switch remind me, wow, there is a possibility.
Can you do an ASMR video of your coffee? I am really curious... lol!
kimmy kimkim I also got tingles while he was pouring the water
rip
kimmy kimkim. really? I suggest you visit the doctor first
This is the second video of yours I've seen and wow I just really love the asthetic of your channel and editing. Your content and style is very interesting like and subbed
I really love your videos, i like seeing the point of view of gamers outside of the u.s and your videos are informative and you are very entertaining to watch! Keep at it!
Holy shit!! Your the perfect coffee blend of Japanese aesthetics and humble British sensibilities. Subscribed!!!!
I really enjoy your videos. Thank you for expressing you thoughts with passion but not over the top and yelling. Keep up the good work.
man I like your coffee break while talking👌😃 you have a new viewer (content of course in general is good too!)
i feel like you're just a super chill guy to hang out with. awesome vid!
This is a cool channel
good luck getting to,100,000 subs you're so close
Instant subscribe xD
what I love about the switch is I find myself taking it places I wouldn't think to take it with me its bound at my hip. its becoming a problem in life because its becoming a devices I use more then anything else I like my xbox one and pc but you cant take either on the go and to be able to play quality games on a portable is a dream to a reality type feeling. more importantly the gameplay and the 1st party content I cant beat the value.
agreed with him. especially in japan where you sometimes need to go suddenly, and playin it inside a train just feels good.
My laptops have been desktop replacements for so long that I don't actually remember the last desktop I had 0_o
NihongoGamer Great vídeo! :D Bull's eye for people like me who love coffee and videogames. Just a tip: rinse the filter before adding the coffee and discard that water. That will remove the bleach flavor from your coffee ;)
NihongoGamer: *Throws the vita*
Me: *Heeeaaaveeeeees*
Love your coffee making episodes btw
You should call these episodes Coffee Talk! btw I really like your videos :D
I love your videos. Putting in coffee is a bonus ;)
I'm not going to lie, feeling to make some coffee whilst playing Switch
Man, watching the brewing is like visual ASMR
Dammit - you hooked me. Nintendo and coffee... subscribed.
I love the making coffee videos! Keep it up
the fingerprints didnt stress me, the just throwing it in the dock stressed me.
The scratches D:
Oh-oh, when he whips out the coffee, you know he means business.
The desktop replacement laptop category is still alive with the many gaming laptops coming out these days. Nothing beats having desktop power in a mobile form factor for me. The newer technology is always making things better.
Brilliant analogy for the Switch...... I'm going to steal it ;o)
there is something therapeutic about watching you pour water into the coffee filter.
finally watched one of these whilst drinking coffee (although its instant)
2:40, this actually is a really good point in is the main reason why one could argue that Nintendo is competing with Sony and Microsoft. They are not often competing directly in terms of audience or sales of their console, but rather competing for the attention of developers who are often unable or unwilling to make games for each and every console available. If developers choose to work with Sony and Microsoft, that often means they probably won't be working with Nintendo, which in turn means less sales and less of an audience.
Did I just find a gaming and coffee themed channel?
Thanks for this!
i like how you're making coffee while talking about the switch lol
45min-1 hour is your definition of a good, quality chunk of gaming time?! For main RPGs like FFXV I only start them when I clear up a whole week at least and make sure we have enough coffee to keep us up for most of it.
hell, I spent 30mins on the title screen alone "watching the sunrise."
and yesss more coffee videos on switch please! when you've noticed any more of these annoying issues or just details you would only notice after using it for a while
Yasumi Ⓥ I agree with you
However in my personal opinion Final Fantasy just plays in an higher League than Zelda does. Zelda is more suited for casual Gamers. You have no set main goal it is fairly easy to understand and no matter which direction you go you may end up finding a shrine and getting into it again. Final Fantasy may be far more complex for the average Nintendo costumer (those who bought a wii)
So that beeing said I agree that the concept does not apply to all games as you mentioned but I assume that Nintendo exklusive title may just be designed so that one does not get lost that easily.
10:00 Actually, the large high power laptops were/are in a category called "Portable Desktop"
+lyianx
Yikes! Musta been before my time lol
They still exist. Pretty much any Gaming laptop (or any laptop) that has a 17" or larger screen falls into the Portable Desktop category. 17" laptop is just too large to be lugging around constantly. Its why most laptops sold are in the 13"-15" size.
this is hands down the best analysis of the nintendo switch i've seen.....subscribed
Nihongo "and I realize this is probably giving you guys a bit of stress that im putting my fingers prints and the screen" If only you knew by plonking the switch in the dock can cause scratches to the Switch... R.I.P OCD.
you were watching someone making a coffee, best 4 minutes of my life
Damn you are quite rough and hands on with your switch putting the switch in and out the dock like that.
I've never found staring at ground coffee so enjoyable :)
This is good stuff! You earned my sub! (:
*boots up his Keurig and makes coffee while watching this video of making coffee*
2:18 What I find interesting is that you have a series dedicated to including varieties of coffee in video game discussions.
