- Karunbithil Shibhira 2017 was a special experience in the sense that it gave me the lifetime opportunity of spending almost a week with Nadayogi Sri V V Subramanyam Sir which included learning music and being on stage with the violin maestro.

Really Divine rendition by Abhishek and The violin maestro legendary VVS. We are blessed to listen to this duo at their excellent best. I had saved this and would have listened to this incredible rendition of Thodi more than 20 times in the last four years. An humble request to Bid.Abhishekji, please upload more songs with the Great VVS Sir . I am sure you two would have rendered more songs in that day.
I am a 77 year old fanatic if Carnatic music . I listen only selected musicians like Ariyakudi Iyengar, Semmangudi, Alathur Bros, Nedhanuri , Madurai Mani Iyer, MS, DKP, DKJ, Flute Mali, Lalgudi Jayaraman and certainly not the least Abhishekji.
Abhishek Raghuram is a curse in the field of Carnatic Music. He has spoiled the original tune of all the kruthis and has introduced his own sangathis. Each kruthi he has sung has the state of garland as if in the hands of a monkey.
I am addicted to Abhishek’s concerts;
Me too..the ardent worshipper of yesudas...but nowadays..this son drags me to his aura of music..

I am not qualified enough to speak about the music, but looking at the background with coconut palm leaves and a simplistic stage, it looks as if the event happened some where around the 19th century rather than this modern age. It's just music without any pretense for the sake of music. I am not saying all concerts in plush halls are pretense or showoff, just that there is a certain charm when everything else takes a back seat for Music itself.
Well said 🙏. But this concert was took place somewere at Bangloore on May 2018 I was there but i didnt remember the actual place name.
Place: Nidle, Near Dharmasthala, South Kanara District, Karnataka. Residence of Sri Vittal Ramamoorthy Sir.
It was a part of week long annual sangeetha shibira (camp) held during summer vacations for young budding vocalists, violinists and the like. That was really a great treat in the serene village atmosphere to listen to the great artists from close quarters and move with them and take home some krithis/lessons taught directly from them.

It's really quite superb. All the nuances of Thodi raaga are fully explored. It's thrilling to see VVS mama playing the violin with consummate ease and control. One can see how Abhishek is enjoying his singing amidst the company of the veteran. Over all a great joy for the listeners. Carnatic classical music is safe in the hands of youngsters like Abhishek Raghuram. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent control over his voice. Im addicted to his voice. Carnatic music is all about minimum 10000 hrs of practice and naturally blowing it on stage, being spontaneous as well as enjoying it. Having a strong voice is always a competitive edge.

My mother used to say Thodi Ragatthoda beauty is only "In slow pitch Izhacchu Izhacchu nidanama paadanum " so much so this Gana ragam will pull any music lover inwards . I remember my mother singing "katthana vari" which is in Thodi

OMG thanks for sharing this real gem of a Thodi. I once heard Sri VVS's Thodi in Raga Sudha hall in mylapore in the late 2000s. It was the best I have heard, with some unheard phrases of plain notes mixed with fast gamakas across three octaves. Superlative. AR brings some of those imaginations in this rendering. Wonder how this combination would have been if VVS sir was younger and accompanied him regularly. There is definitely a dearth of such geniuses in violin playing, after an era of the holy Quartet of violin (TNK, LGJ, MSG, VVS). Anyway, thoroughly enjoyed this free flowing exchange!

Few years back in "Karumbitthil " classical music training occation these 2 great STALWARTS guided the trinees and also presented this marvellous classical music.( karumbitthil is a place near Dharmasthala of Mangalore district ) The main organiser for this is the famous violinist sri Vittal rangan and his associates. 👌👌👌

Sir, This is not a stage performance. This is a music workshop conducted by famous violinist Sri Vittal Rama moorthy Sir in his house near Dharmasthala each and every year .Somany famous musicians are participating with their students.
