I am sorry to say that although there are music lovers in karnataka, many don't listen the music concerts with rapt attention and cause distractions and disturbance to the serious listeners too. The performer assess the quality of audience and accordingly switch to his advantage. We can see videos where Chennai audience create altogether a pleasant atmosphere to the musicians. Shall we try to improve??
Abisaik raghuram please send a comment to steady health that we do not have belly fat anymore but we do have other health problems that are more important to solve first.
Sri Abhishek Raghuram has proved the inheritance of the DNA of his Grandfather, our favourite and very much loved Sir Lalgudi Jayaraman, with his Shruthi, Bhava and Laya. May the Almighty Lord, confer His invaluable Blessings on the upcoming Young Artist, to match the expectations of his illustrious Grandfathers.
Abhishek is a genius. No doubt. Salutations to his parampara. Pl let me know what is his contribution exactly if v remove RaghuSir and Lalgudi Jayaraman Sir. The anchor because of above the stalwarts he has became today's Abhishek.I oppose, Abhishek has done penance to bring out his own style.so v have to appreciate his hard work too. Namaskaram.
your style of rendering is unique and inimitable . You should always go ahead with experimenting and exploring new horizons . The future of carnatic music is safe in the hands of young brilliant musicians like you
Very Highly talented arist at a very young age and surely he will be the top artist in the carnatic field in the caliber of Dr M Balamuralikrishna in the years to come
excellent performance. i can listen to abhishek raguram concert hours to gether.. too much knowledge of music and too much gnanam, god bless him, he sings from his heart and he enjoys .
+V. Chandra Sekhar Flawless?! Go learn the krithis yourself, and you'll realise how "flawless" his ananda natana prakasam is. It's fine to praise an artiste, but please, cut the hyperbole.
Very different interpretation of Natabhairavi...a raagam not explored in so much variation...at least I haven't heard...very soothing...very expansive...and the matching swarakkorvais...so good...:) Lucky to be able to appreciate such artistes...:)
Balaji you are right. This is what happens when they sing from their head and leave the heart out and are not yet philosophically mature to understand the deep meanings involved. But the audience are no different and their expectations are even lower. Ramesh
Dear Bharathiya Saamagana Sabha Organizers, Please select the performance announcers by their knowledge of Music and also the details about the musicians instead of how they look or how much they have contributed to your Sabha. This Girl failed to announce Sangeetha Kalanidhi U. ShivAraman. Just stopped at Umayalapuram with bad ponunciation. It is an insult to the artists, let alone forgetting their highly esteemed tittles. Secondly. she had no idea that violinist Sri H.N. Bhaskar is none other than the son of famous violinist, Mysore Music College Professor, Class 'A' AIR artist and dearest disciple of Parur M.S.Gopalakrishnan. Above all Sri Bhaskar is born and brought up in the beautiful musical city of Mysore which has given us World class Violinists. Somebody who knows the Lineage should orient and teach the youngsters. Otherwise it disappoints us who are are very staunch Karnatak Music Connosieurs who watch B.S.S. concerts regularly here in U.S.A. Thanks.
Abhilash Venkitachalam its interesting, but adding the "ri" of vasantha, technically becomes the prathimadhyama in khamas (contrary to the arohana/avarohana of khamas). Hence I felt it was little forced. Needless to say, amazing indeed !
SIVARAMAN-Hyderabad, age 70, 20-9-2015-I didn't know that he is maternal grand nephew of Lalgudi, the legend of legends and I know his grand father is Palghat Raghu. His voice modulation is at par with Chhembai another legend from Palghat. It is unusual that kedaram is sung, what an excellent ragam. People should have guts to sing as it sometimes close to mallary and Sankarabaranam. This youngster has a great future. My blessings are added to others. I wonder some great legacies are immortal.
Sree Vallee was excellent - except, Natabhairavi kept wanting to spill over into Shanmukhapriya.. ...For someone of Abhishek's Gnanam, this was avoidable...(I don't mean he used any Pratimadhyama god forbid!, just that the general feel of the rendering was unsettling).
Chem zard I do not particularly dislike such spill over. It is entirely up to the musician to interpret Natabhairavi, as long as he is not blatantly violating the scale with mishrafication. Experiments may sound odd with Kambhoji, but Natabhairavi is OK. Many people have not heard it long enough.. I think such experiments should be encouraged, as long as shruti shuddham is not compromised, which several other musicians have trouble with.
+Dilip Subramanian -grha bedham in carnatic music is welcome. In RTP you can notice this, heseini to bhairavi and back to huseini. This kid attempts many sangadhis with his own style. Who sings the kirtana properly, as most of the singers are tamils, therefore his small mistake can be excused -V.S.Sivaraman, Hyderabad. a
+Chem zard Yes, the Da Ni Ri pattern is commonly used in Shanmukhapriya..but as long as the artist doesn't sway from the essence of the original raga, such experiments only make the rendering interesting. Don't you think?
Yes. Here is my opinion: I think every artiste should be allowed to explore the ragas as they want. The "classicism safety net" is surely a good thing, and should be adhered to, while rendering a composition. When the singers may not be native singers of that language, the safety net can help there. But, there should be absolutely no rules (can be opinions, of course) about how a raga is delineated.
Kindly check the kriti it is DHARAKASAM and not dharakaram and bahudara beda chodyam and not veda chodyam. Top musician must do their home work properly like MS amma
+Umamaheswaran Maheswaran Here are the charanam lyrics in karnatik.com. The artist has sung it correctly. bahuthara vedha chodyam is correct. Veetha raaginam aprameya advaitha prathipaadhyam Sangeetha vaadhya vinodha thandava jaatha bahuthara vedha chodyam
An irreverent and even not a relevant one : but a pestering one ever for me: why the prose part of the concert program is rendered by the management and the artist in English?
Must be heard to experience the glory of music. nothing comes close.R.S.C.Murthy, Los Angeles.
Abhishek a gem of a singer!

Vasantha sruthibhedam in Kamas! Genius! _/\_
Abhilash Venkitachalam Forgive my ignorance. How many notes did he move shadjamam by? Did he move Sa to Ma?
Keshav Magge yes, he moved Sa to Ma.. Ma ni dha ni Re in kamas will become sa ma ga ma dha in vasanta :)
Abhilash Venkitachalam its interesting, but adding the "ri" of vasantha, technically becomes the prathimadhyama in khamas (contrary to the arohana/avarohana of khamas). Hence I felt it was little forced. Needless to say, amazing indeed !

Subu Kaundinya I agree... such experimination should be actively encouraged. Music will thrive and prosper only as it re-invents itself over time...
