I think its only vital as it allows son to play outwide which for me is his strongest position, he benefitted from them 1 touch finishes provided by the width

I don’t know about his contract situation, but I feel rather than Toney that Solanke would fit better in Anges system. Like Toney he’s English, so it would help with registration issues. He’s also used to playing for a high pressing attacking side and scores a lot of goals for a bottom half team.
Other than him, it be great if they could sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting, but it’s going to be hard to compete with Arsenal for him.

It’s puzzling why we have stopped the high energy game. Players are static not running for each other and seem to be hiding. Very odd and I just can’t think of an explanation. Sonny is clearly not a centre forward as his ball control when receiving the ball is terrible. The problem is the midfield who are just not functioning at all
Still optimistic for the future as this downturn is to be expected but we need an influx of quality players
Ange has already stated at a recent press conference that Club Spurs will definitely not be buying £100M quality players.
So Mediocre is Plenty Enough at Club Spurs.
Totally agree, and think you've hit the nail on the head with Son. He is not a back to goal CF, which means the ball isn't sticking when the opposing press is beaten. Werner is hiding in defence and attack, if he runs the line he tends to come back which just compresses defences and removes the space behind, because he is not making runs behind when the space is there or attacking one Vs one situations, it looks as if madders and co aren't confident passing to him. When Werner does get in behind he's been effective on a few occasions, but it's few and far between, most often turning back safely as Gold stated.
All this means that our high line defence is under constant threat in turn overs because the ball isn't sticking up top, chances aren't being taken and it all leads to playing with less confidence under more pressure.

Players appeared to be confused as to where to be and who to pass to. It really seems that there are no planned routes or plays when we have possession of the ball. Hence all the side to side passes with no results

I really think this is a problem starting with the loss of a CF. We don't have a player other than kulu, who can hold the ball under pressure. Richie out, son having to play CF, Werner is becoming an issue because he is almost always turning back away from goal, missing chances and not pressing with any intent
When Son is on fire it picks the whole team up, playing him central with his back to goal is killing him and the team. We need to get him back on the left. Play Werner or Richy in front of him as they can play with their back to goal better than him and then we get the best from Son again.
I hate zonal marking Ange had set piece problems at Celtic with it
Chelsea at their best will beat us, Poch is one of the best counter tactician around and guess what so is Eddie Howe. If we aren't at our very best it'll be a miserable match.
Why not play Romero as the CDM and put Dragusin to help the set piece issue
What I can't understand we can see son is struggling as forward. Why not move him out wide, and play Lankshear up front. Teams won't knowhow he plays but he is scoring regular for u21. I know it is not the Premier league. But he is on form
I’m kind of astounded at how many Spurs players have seen marked downturns in form. Could name about 8 players who have gone from regular 7, 8 or 9 out of 10 performances to 4, 5 or 6.

Since January & Asian Cup , there has only been 2 good games from them.

Hi Ali and Rob. Do Spurs Ladies have better coaches than Ange?
Can't say they are better. But certainly they are more tactically minded and spend more time studying opposition's tactics and make changes accordingly. They probably also have intermediate goals for the team to aim for this season. Also they don't throw players under the bus when the players made mistake. They will say "I told them to do it". They will design structures to maximise the team's chance of winning rather than single mindedly going one style. Also they talk to players individually all the time - Ange only gives motivation speeches saving time to do other stuffs - Ange's time is precious.
Ah, also, many fans praise Ange to be a one trick pony with the best trick in town and will challenge for title with just this trick. Give him a free hit this season they say. No, some say give him next season too. Ange is the next coming of, well, you name it.

Both bissouma and bentancur were signed to play in a 2 alongside someone else. They don't fit the 6 or 8 roles really.

Son loses the ball out wide as well tbf..keeping the ball under pressure and in tight areas has never been his strength.

Spurs not spending big money on big players……will never get anywhere. Way too many mediocre players in squad….and I include Maddison and son in that quote.
The real Madrid side of the late naughties was full of expensive world class players that won very little. Spending money and lots of it doesn't win titles. Look at the current Chelsea squad, it's taken them quite a while to figure out how to play.
I'd much prefer unknowns who have talent but want to play for the club.
@@justjames5698 I agree with your comment. When spurs has a complete squad of good players….then things will improve. But at the moment ….too much deadwood needs to be kulled….and so a couple of top line players are needed sooner rather than later. But this means that 60-70 million plus…per player will need to be spent…whilst we wait for the other players to mature and get better. I still believe that Maddison is very overrated…and Son is not as good now as he once was…I just hope spurs don’t make CL for next season….we will get slaughtered.
