It didn’t take me more than 5 minutes with the silly noises to turn them off in my car. I have the Countryman S E Sport AWD that pretends by its badges to be a JCW version. The Countryman S E replaced a 2021 Cooper S E - I had no problems at all with its range and I live 16 miles from the nearest shop/ town.
@@TeslaJigsaw I’m actually a bit too creaky to get into a Mini or even M3 easily so I went for a basic MY, a snip at only 3 grand more than that Mini. I know they are in very different size classes but BMW need to sort out their pricing. Maybe they will drop the price nearer to the end of the year to avoid getting fined.😉
Hate to say it but the reason that Tesla is the only one making money is in large part due to their NOT giving you lots of interior and exterior choices. I will predict that BMW will lose money on the Mini unless they are priced very high. I will agree that Tesla should give themes for their display.
Yes, I understand the lack of options leads to greater cost savings (that inevitably get passed onto us, the customer) But still.. no harm in adding 'cool stuff' like various screen choices, it is after all only software 👍 I'd be interested to find out how profitable the electric Minis are... if at all?!
The problem as always the new RWD Tesla Model 3 is priced at £39,990, none of the new cars are much cheaper and make the Tesla a fantastic choice. I am really not too sure about the fake engine sounds and love the quiteness of my M3. Seeing many more cars available is always good and we all have different needs and wants. Glad to see they have now updated it and given much more range. I agree minimum 200 mile range is very usable. It is fair enough comparing to what you know in Tesla as well.
The problem is as a company car, Teslas are very expensive (well they are on my scheme!). You’re talking £200 a month more for a basic Model 3. Doesn’t sound much but that’s £7,200 over 3 years and that makes you think!
@@ISuperTedI do not have any benefit of a company car or a purchase scheme through salary sacrifice. Nice review, I will subscribe as our other car is a Telsa. We're interested in the new mini to upgrade our current Mini Electric, trouble is we really like that and the short range for local running around is never an issue. We've tried to justify the upgrade because we don't want to caught out by the range if one of us needs to get over to our elderly parents in a hurry and for some reason the other one has got the Tesla away from home. Doesn't really cut it.
Nice review! It is a fun little car. Loved it since it got introduced. But how is the actual consumption of the SE? Then you can compare it to the slightly optimistic WLTP range. That’s the only thing keeping me outside the Mini dealer and closing the deal. As a Model X owner I am quite spoiled with the range and OTA updates (range dropped to 418 km on my MX 100D). Regarding consumption, If it can do similar to a Model Y standard range (the car my wife owns), then the Mini would be a perfect car for me (a man reaching his midlife crisis, according to my wife🙄). And yes I also own a Mini classic (1999 40th anniversary) 😎. Perhaps I should go to the Mini dealer and book a testdrive.
Thanks for your comment! I'd recommend taking one for a test drive, and asking it to be fully charged so you can see what the real range might be. I did a brief calculation of my miles remaining and percentage - and it would have been LESS than 200 miles... however, if everyone who had test drive before me drove like I did... it may calculate less range!
@@TeslaJigsaw Thanks for your quick response. I will ask to fully charge and reset the tripmeter. 200 miles is the minimum for me, 70% motorway at 60-70 mph

The ORA 3 ( used to be called the funky cat) is well worth consodering, as this is basically thats what the mini is...same underpinnings. The Ora is far funkier looking in my opinion and is wayyyy better specced at a waaayyyy better price.
I've driven the Ora 3... not as engaging as the Mini to drive, but overall liked the looks/styling. Practically the same real world range of 211 miles on the bigger battery, not to different on price either?
On my shortlist for my next Company car (well that’s what my wife says!). Seriously though, as mine will be leased it’s the monthly payment that matters and although I’d love a Model 3, on my company scheme a top of the range Mini is considerably cheaper than even a base Model 3. I don’t need the room as it would be a second car.
At the moment 200mls is still a bit less than optimum in Rural Wales, straight line point to point stuff is OK, but if like me you A2 B 2 A 2 C 2 D, then there in not yet enough Rapid charging in rural Wales, I got home with 4% Wednesday night, having sat on a 7kWh charger for 40min......Must carry a book. The problem with £38,000 as a "backup" second car..... I'm starting to wonder what family has that amount of money for a second car? Maybe they have a Range Rover as their main car! So certainly NOT this family, no matter how cute it is! I would go for a nearly new Citroën E-C4 for £12,000... not a mini.
@@TeslaJigsaw Makers can ask whatever they like but unless buyers take out huge loans to afford them, who will buy them and how many will sell in this recession?
I owned EVs for four years and then went back to a ICE car and the thing I missed the most from an ICE is "coasting". I hated regen braking on the EV. It always felt like I was fighting to hold a constant speed. Worse, in the winter excessive regen could cause slippage and it felt dangerous on icy back roads. The car would literally start braking harder than friction would allow. If I can't turn off regen, I won't go back to an EV.
You can totally turn it off in this Mini and in a Tesla. The Tesla even has a special mode for Winter driving that mainly overcomes the issues you describe.
OMG!! I was liking this car until you showed how slow it charges on DC charging and then THE WEIGHT!! What a pig!!! This is not going to handle like a gas Mini. It's like BMW intentionally wants to make this thing subpar so they can say "see no one wants EVs". This is almost a compliance car.
My 2023 mini cooper se smokes any mini cooper s. And since I did some suspension modifications it also out handles most small cars to include the mini cooper s.

What is B or D?
