I miss SEGA. I wish Sega and SNK would partner up in create a new, powerful console, that doesn't have a billion first person shooters for a change. Unique games! The Dreamcast has some of the most unique games!
I guess it depended on how far Sega went with supporting it. If they kept their current IP's like Yakuza and the loads of stuff Atlus is responsible for exclusive, it could be something there. Moot point really, though. Sega isn't built to be a hardware company anymore. There's just as much a chance that Namco will make a console as Sega.
Brother, neither does the modern Sega. When Sammy cleared out what remained of the CSK controlled old guard, the Sega that had a history in the hardware industry ceased to exist. It's a radically different company now, basically Sega in name only. It's a 3rd party developer focused on its modern IP's. It just happens to have a namesake we once knew and loved. A look at Streets of Rage 4 tells us exactly how much Sega is willing to risk on legacy IP.
I don't understand this obsession people have with having yet another hardware platform. Sega would be making the exact same games they're making right now regardless of hardware so what's the point? What matters is software in the end.

@@kurisuchiinathecrocodile333 One of the best soundtracks I've ever heard on a beat em' up. And there is an exclusive track for the Saturn version in the first part of World 5.
Damn, it's amazing how many great but not very well known games Saturn had. DID SOMEONE SAY HIDDEN GEMS?!! (rubs belly) P.S.: Also, what kind of stuff were the PuLiRuLa devs smoking in order to come up with all that crazy art? xDDD
Sega Lord X - I there's something about being so reserved/overly polite in public that just sets them loose when it comes to creative endeavors, lol. It's like their outlet from all that polite repression or something.
Yeah, there is some truth there I think. I have had a few Japanese friends and coworkers in my life, and their polite exterior often hid a much more....lets say, interesting, person underneath. :)
It's a shame beat 'em ups on Saturn are so pricey as they all look great (except Batman forever, lol)! I own Die Hard arcade and enjoy it a lot but am personally glad Sega didn't use an existing I.P. for it. Better as it's own game imo. Guardian Heroes is cool too but not worth the price it goes for these days 😔. Great video! 🖒🖒
I’m surprised that sega never did a compilation of streets of rage on Saturn or at least a beefed up version of SOR2 akin to final fight cd. How cool would it have been to have cd quality sound clearer voice samples better color more enemies dare I say animated cutscenes ugh oh well
Batman Forever: The Arcade Game is AWESOME! Yes it's not easy to play, but it's plays fast, graphics are great. I've played in childhood on MS-DOS PC version, even manage to beat it few times. I really like it!
Guardian Heros.....what a game. The rpg elements plus multiple endings kept us playing fir weeks, heck months. This is how a beatem up should be done when it doesn't have to be a quarter muncher. I wish it got rereleased beyond xbox but code princes ex is something to tide people over I guess till somebody gets off their buts and puts guardian heros on steam or something.
Batman forever looks fun and some of those other ones. They needed to release the simpsons, and x-men beat em up.arcade. AVP 2 player, and the mortal kombats legit. I would have bought a saturn but as a kid seeing over 5 new consoles already before even playstation or 64 came out, I stuck with my snes, nes, and genesis collecting. They had 3do, panasonic, sega cd, saturn, jaguar, 32x, virtuaboy, commodore. Plus decent cd-roms. lol
Man, everytime I watch your 'x genre on the x console' kinda videos, I always end up adding one or two titles into my (already long) wishlist. It's getting out of control... :D
Chronicles of Mystara seems to go on sale for just under $4 on PC/Wii-U/PS4 etc etc quite a lot, well worth it for arcade perfect ports of these unique beat-em-ups. Capcom really knew how to build balanced, fun beat-em-ups, there was really no comparison. I'm curious why the Saturn port needed the RAM expansion, when on paper, the Saturn should have been more powerful/had more RAM than the CPS2 arcade system the originals ran on.
The CPS2 wasn't an optical system needing to swap data constantly. Saturn's meager system RAM couldn't hold enough of all those animation frames and sound samples without loading constantly.
Yeah, that is true, probably needed the extra RAM to pre-load assets etc. to lessen loading times. Somehow I hadn't considered that. Thanks. It's easy to forget just how slow early CD-ROM drives/systems were.
Nekketsu Oyako was originally developed for the PS1 and then ported to the Saturn and as expected, the PS1 version is better since it features actual transparencies. Also, Tenchi wo kurau II is available on PS1 too. The Saturn version is supposedly slightly better, but only because of some weird minor censorship on the PS1 release (blood looking more orange than red) The PS1 version tends to be a bit cheaper, so just throwing that out there.
Actually, the Saturn version of Nekketsu Oyako is the best playing of the two. A number of changes to the gameplay made the Saturn version the one to get, barring mesh transparencies being that offensive to you. The Saturn version of Tenchi Wo Kurau II has noticeably better animation, especially in its larger enemies and 2 player mode.
I see, I'm a bit curious about where did you find about the differences between both versions of Tenchi Wo Kurau. Other than a Japanese site listing differences (and not mentioning anything about animation, only the censorship and loading times) it seems most sources consider it a very similar port. Although the Saturn version is better, the PS1 version is still a great cheaper alternative. This is the japanese site I mention: www.geocities.jp/rip_gamer/etc/tenti2/tenti2_etc.html As for Nekketsu Oyako, there are changes for sure but the core game honestly feels almost the same and again it's a cheaper alternative. I personally can't stand the dithered/checkerboard fake transparencies to be honest, at least not at such low resolutions where the "holes" are so obvious. It's just such an unconvincing effect that I would rather have solid colors instead (or maybe do what SNK did in Samurai Shodown 3 and 4 where 2 opposing checkerboard sprites rapidly flicker alternating each frame to avoid the mesh look)
Guardian Heroes was my favorite beatem up for many years!! Love that game so much!! Also really liked Die Hard arcade! I regretted not picking up the dungeons and dragons collection at the time, happy they released it on the 360 back in the day, so I was able to pick it up!! Have to agree not porting Golden Ax 2 revenge of death adder is HUGE missed opportunity!!
Wow, I didn't know Japanese copies if Dynamite Deka had gotten so cheap! It's been on my Saturn get list for quite a while. Also, I really feel like eBay sellers are really trying to fleece Saturn fans, a lot of these titles have no reason to command such ludicrous prices
It's the Buy It Now culture that has taken over auction sites. Appeal to the "gotta have it now" people. It's wrecked any resemblance of a fair market for this stuff. Retro gamers need to stopped supporting it.
@@SegaLordX It's sad to say, but you're 100% correct. I try to buy from fair-priced local shops when I can, and only support online sellers who are willing to offer reasonable prices
I wish I would have gotten Crows for 100...had to pay 230$ to get mine. But its definitly my favourite beat em up for the Saturn, just no fan of the medieval fantasy setting of Guardian Heroes or Golden Axe. And a Bare Knuckle 4 would have been such a nice fit for the Saturns beat em up library.
Hello! for me this game with the magic wand is the ONLY title that looks as if it has a mind set and style that I could found intrguing and telling to fascinate me. I used to own "Streets" and I used to own "Axe no.2" but in long run those are games that never pleased me finding that a different kind game mileu that became the master mind hub for my liking. I have played other beat em ups when I was smaller, those are Fighting Force for Playstation, and those were Die Hard Arcade. but in the end man I do not long to play the genre much Save for that dreamy Magic wand game, it is as I stressed on my channel, that is what makes gaming worthwhile for me in the long run. The most recent games I have played are The Web on Saturn and Virtua Racing 32x edition, these two are super games, but I have fail to make up for my loss of concentration playing them. I do however on a balanced basis that has some thing of a spell bound notion connected to it, Nights into Dreams is my favourite game, and in a approximately a few days or so Pulseman willarrive via the customs from China PR., very soon.I feel very motivated of course. the price of fees at costums is okay because one is not charged for Shipping in this case, anyway. Keep up man your show has revigorated my Zealous feel for being alive in difficult time, AND it was on under you wings I heeded the call as I got a Mega CD with "Sherlock" and "Pugsy" it is difficult to become enticed to get beat em up titles however, for me I can admit that I can sense a special atmosphere brewing on the brime with these "D & D games" but it looks a bit like so much of a head strong game for me, and for now It is not as if I find it very compelling, I am the kind of Guy that likes "Whizz" and the only subject factor not to like with games in that puzzle platformer genre, like "Whizz" is because in said case take here as a suggestion and example involves a "running out of time setting aspect within the otherwise very basic idea of harmless tricky but likeable gaming. As you might have been already aware of a game liken to Whizz in gameplay and style is "Sonic 3D" and as you know it has not time limit involved in the aim of completing the game, it is not a part of the plot or gaming conditions in Sonic 3D save only as a feature for gathering time bonuses, i.e. if this is what you want. I have come to understand that you are very much so a Beat them up kind of gamer, I mean so dig combos coupled with what fills the screens as you are fond of the pick up and play whatever you want kind of aspect to this genre, I used to like to play "Streets" or " Axe No.2" with my elder brother, yet as time i swapped away those titles for some things found some place else. I still let my choice in games for SEGA Platforms to be lasting and a priority of sorts to keep me active on a often repeated basis, interest coming again and going a again. I have out grown some of these game genres and while I have never seen myself as coping with arcades I do own games like Star Wars, Virtua Racer 32x and Darxide 32x for the Mega 32x unit I own and I am very happy about these kinds of presentations, as these games work without demanding much of the gamer in terms of options for what is at stake as an offer when we talk of Controls, one can play with a pretty much standard controller. For me this means "in truth being a good idea" for I have problems with fine hand motorics and usually do not last long when it comes to speaking of games with intricate Control schemes. What I lack the most speaking about gaming is patience and it is in demand of concentration. It does not mean I have never played Beat Them Up's but I just do not see it as my kind of games in general, I am a "Knuckles 32x" Fan, an Avid "Columns Arcade "fan, Bust a Move (Puzzle Bobble) fan.. Spinball devotee, I have played it for years, I love Burning Rangers only so I find it hard to navigate myself on the playing field… Ah, so I Think my focus in gaming is a little different from yours I have not even one Beat Them Up title as far as to what I have in my Collection, as a genre I do not regret this, for me it is similar to when I swapped away some old fightning games, I kept only Virtua Fighter Kids, and it has the feature Combo MAKER, and is colourful in a splendid way.
Showed my twelve year old daughter this and her words we’re. Now I know why u played out as a child daddy. Now I’m debating smashing the PS4 and buying her a master system 😂
Played Pu-Li-Ru-La one late "half-baked" night with my cousin one night (👌🔥🔥🔥) if you know what I mean... lol. Fuck, we couldn't stop laughing!!! That, LSD dream simulator, and J.J. squakers are some of the trippiest shit I've ever played.
I will say at least most of the saturn's beat em ups that came out for the system were pretty interesting to downright really fun titles. Although I will agree with you that batman was never on my radar when I was collecting hardcore for the system. The game just couldn't warrant my wallet lol.
why revenge of death adder was never released for the saturn is beyond me

I'm a fan as well. Has a bit of a Streets of Rage vibe to it.
@@SegaLordX And a bit of Final Fight too.
one of my fav soundtracks from saturn btw
@@kurisuchiinathecrocodile333 One of the best soundtracks I've ever heard on a beat em' up. And there is an exclusive track for the Saturn version in the first part of World 5.
Damn, it's amazing how many great but not very well known games Saturn had. DID SOMEONE SAY HIDDEN GEMS?!! (rubs belly)
P.S.: Also, what kind of stuff were the PuLiRuLa devs smoking in order to come up with all that crazy art? xDDD
The Japanese imagination is something else, I tell you. ;)
As the game is, Die Hard Arcade wouldn't have fit anything else really of Sega's. But that engine.....well, that's another story entirely.
@@SegaLordX ah, true that! 🖒
Could have been a better engine for a 3D 'SOR' than 'Fighting Force'! 😂
Dude your so good you could talk about spores molds and fungus and make it sound interesting! Keep it up bro your killing it !!!🤘🤘
As always love the content dude holy cow this is great!
Thanks Stephen. Appreciate the comment.
not gonna lie I love batman forever!
I’m surprised that sega never did a compilation of streets of rage on Saturn or at least a beefed up version of SOR2 akin to final fight cd. How cool would it have been to have cd quality sound clearer voice samples better color more enemies dare I say animated cutscenes ugh oh well
Warriors of Fate is included on the Capcom beat em up bundle that literally just came out yesterday
I saw that. It looks like a pretty good pack of games.
The "Die Hard Arcade" is really entertaining, has nothing to do with the movies but fun
Batman Forever: The Arcade Game is AWESOME! Yes it's not easy to play, but it's plays fast, graphics are great. I've played in childhood on MS-DOS PC version, even manage to beat it few times. I really like it!
Well seeing Batman Forever Arcade I can say it looks a lot more fun then the other console Batman Forever games.
what a great selection of games!
the D&D collection is available on Steam for 20 bucks by the way. It's four player, online and even has level select.. :P
I'M LOVIN THE INTRO
Good. I was really hoping to get a good mix of old and new.
Bro so perfectly SEGA
Best channel intro
Guardian Heros.....what a game. The rpg elements plus multiple endings kept us playing fir weeks, heck months. This is how a beatem up should be done when it doesn't have to be a quarter muncher. I wish it got rereleased beyond xbox but code princes ex is something to tide people over I guess till somebody gets off their buts and puts guardian heros on steam or something.
Now that Sega Ages is being released to Switch, hope to see more of these gems appearing!
gaaaaahd, Guard Heroes was SUCH AMAZING GAME!!! Code of Princess satisfies my hunger, but this game was just on another level!!!
Sega & Capcom made the best beat em ups ever
Neo-geo can do D&D with ease, king of kings in 2d realm
Great video as always.
Thanks for the message. :)
Plus decent cd-roms. lol
Excellent video. Keep the good work. Saturn was really an underrated system. I wish I could've enjoyed it better that time. Cheers.
Circumstances can rob us of many great experiences during our lives. I always look at it as better late than never. :)
Man, everytime I watch your 'x genre on the x console' kinda videos, I always end up adding one or two titles into my (already long) wishlist. It's getting out of control... :D
You're in trouble then, because there are tons more games to cover. ;)
Boy, that was brutal. XD
do you think you could do another but for the Dreamcast?
Wish wish they had done more ports
Story of the Saturn's life. It could have done so much more.
Miss playing fighting vipers. Loved that game
Best Sega channel
I wish we had more Sega Saturn game collections nowadays.
I like die hard arcade for the Saturn, but it's very underrated.
Guardian Heroes is the best from the list
Robin from Injustice 2 could learn some moves from Robin from Batman Forever for the Sega Saturn.
Ojisan will approve
awesome and informative thanks for making this!
No problem man. Glad you enjoyed it.
This is the japanese site I mention:
www.geocities.jp/rip_gamer/etc/tenti2/tenti2_etc.html
As for Nekketsu Oyako, there are changes for sure but the core game honestly feels almost the same and again it's a cheaper alternative.
Don't forget some of the games were released on other consoles and in compilations as well.
They were. PuLiRuLa was on one of the Taito classic disc on PS2, and Nekketsu Oyako was on the Japanese PS1.
Gran video por el cual te ganaste un like y gracias por hacerlo, exitos y suerte
I dig the new intro
Good. I was hoping it'd be a hit.
Did you say Sega love!?
Ps: Tony's chocolonely e awesome!
Revenge of Death Adder not having a home release for 20+ years is just crazy.
Yeah I quite enjoyed Batman Forever on the Saturn. I do wish forever Three Dirty Dwarves wasn't so expensive.
A new subscriber here 🖐😆❤
Wow, I didn't know Japanese copies if Dynamite Deka had gotten so cheap!
Really in need of a ganbare Goemon sort of game for the Saturn
Crows the Battle Action reminds me of the River City Ransom games a bit.
Another awesome video
Thanks man. :)
Sega forever!
Dungeons and Dragons Collections was about to be on the PS1, but it was cancelled.
The old theme is back...Nice.
I wanted to mix the old and new. I think it turned out OK.
Shinobi in the intro yeaaah, why you didn't included Shinobi X?
I will say at least most of the saturn's beat em ups that came out for the system were pretty interesting to downright really fun titles. Although I will agree with you that batman was never on my radar when I was collecting hardcore for the system. The game just couldn't warrant my wallet lol.
The Saturn never had anything as good as Streets of Rage 2, but what it did get was solid enough to make great additions to the library.
Thank you sir. I want to try them all.
Please do. You'll come away happy I think.
