If you’re looking for more junk journal ponderings…. Last summer, I made a limited-series podcast about all my deep thoughts regarding junk journaling. It’s free on the Spotify app! Search for “Ordinary Paper” or link here:

Note that in the first episode, I mention that I was doing a podcast because I didn’t think I had enough ideas for a RUclips channel. Things (happily) went a different way, so you can disregard that!

Love the watercolor whimsical flowers! BTW, alcohol ink/markers are not intended for paper. I have seen folks using it to color non porous items like metal, such as paper clips.

I did “not” expect the color to go onto the paper before the swirls! You explained it later. 😅
Very whimsical. I’m glad you’re pursuing the whimsy! And sharing it.
Ooohhh how I wanted to see that fussy cut on the other side of that wood finished pocket! 😮
Quite interesting about the alcohol inks smearing on some book pages. But I suppose that’s due to inking and processing at the presses. Good to test before you get that “one page” you’ve been saving to do something with those markers!
I think wonky pockets (uneven sides) would be great with these too. All kinds of ways to be whimsical cover and cover-to-cover in shaping things. Can’t wait to see what all you do in whimsy-art!
And - don’t know if you adjusted lighting - but fewer shadows near your hands. 😊
    Thanks!! ❤❤

Jenn, your comments are always such day-brighteners - thank you! And speaking of "brightening"... thanks for noticing my new lighting setup. I figured after six months of making videos, I ought to invest in a better ring light system, so I did! There will always be some hand shadows, but I think I've gotten rid of the phone shadow mid-desk like I had when I started out.

@@annekenlon thank you. And you’re welcome. It looks much clearer now. Of course, I fight some weird vision stuff (which I hope to resolve soon) so it’s like looking around a bunch of this-and-that sometimes. Mad floaters. I mean MAD floaters. Not typical. Makes whimsical sight? Eeek no! ❤️. You’re doing a very nice “job” of crafting and filming! I’m pondering the knotty bird and the whimsy flowers. Just pondering now. Up to the knees. Getting there. Letting the grands (or step children) learn their way of artistic ability … instead of criticizing … yes, I know that on both accounts as to what happened with me and how it helped a step-child to just let the child experiment.
Just had to say something - the critical comments are sometimes very large obstacles waaaay into the years. “I got 6+decades!!)”. 😂❤

Good morning Anne. I really do like using book pages to Doodle flowers on. I also use them to stamp images on and color them. I've learned that if the paper is absorbing the ink you can use a very thin coating of gesso white / clear and you won't usually have a problem with the words smearing. I like the look of the words coming through the very light white gesso. The clear gesso really preps the page to put many assorted media on it while not covering the beauty of the text. I've also played around with using colored pencils, and Prisma are my very favorite brand. I was introduced to them by a children's book illustrator many many years ago. You might also have fun using chalk pastels. I just get the cheap ones and then I spray the the really cheap in a can hairspray from the Dollar Tree store to lock the chalk to the paper. You can also use a clear matte spray paint, but I only use that when I can be outside. The odor and safety of smelling spray paint warrants being outside. However, I do like the results of the clear matte paint best. I REALLY love the last pocket you made that can be stitched into a signature. I don't think I've ever seen anyone do that before. You might check out some of the easy zentangle designs on RUclips. That is where I've been learning to do some of these doodly types of images. I have been having so much fun doing them on even my cards I make😊. Great ideas today as always.

      @annekenlon  2 месяца назад +1

Thank you, Pam! Yes, I do love using the gesso on book pages - as you know, I use them both ways! The instructive thing for me with this "smearing" discovery was to test a page first - alcohol can have unexpected results in any situation! Thanks for watching, as always!

Hello, I’m new to your. Videos and I’m love how the markers makes the ink below the colors is distorted for the look is more important to me then the words . The idea is the color, beside the words around the colors is not distorted. Once done it will look fine.

Don't worry, my friend, it's a Readers Digest Condensed version so there is a LOT that got edited out! I consider that editing process to be literary vandalism but I like the mentions of the characters anyway, so I feel OK with tearing this one up! Not an original worth preserving! Please don't reconsider our friendship! :-)

If you have water color pencils that would be interesting to try ?

I do have some pencils, and I don't often use them - the colors are pretty, though, and they tend to yield very rich pigmentation. If I ever get the time, I really do want to learn more about proper watercolor techniques - right now, I know next to nothing!

What type of watercolors are you using. Love the big circles and the rich of the colors

    Lovely video and flowers.
For me the vintage inking does not really fit to whimsical, but thats personally offcourse.

Hi - I didn't spray the paper this time, but I experiment with different techniques and do sometimes paint wet-on-wet. Thanks for watching!

Love your channel! What is the brand/style of the pen you use?

Hello, and thanks for watching! I use the EnerGel liquid gel pen - the brand is Pentel. They are easy to find online or in office supply stores! Several tip widths available - I mostly use the 0.7 tip for writing, and that's what I used in this video. I have some 1.0 tips for a slightly wider mark. Hope that helps!
