What is directional pruning? How to prune fruit trees on your own

When it comes to pruning your fruit trees, one of the most important concepts to understand is directional pruning and bud selection.
There is nothing more frustrating that spending hours and seasons growing your fruit trees at home just to have random growth come out in places that you never wanted it to. This happens all the time and it happens even more when you do not carefully select bud. Bud selection on fruit trees allows us to choose where we want the next growth direction to go - this is called directional pruning. By doing this we are able to get branches where we want them to ensure they get everything they need from sunlight to airflow.
Once you have mastered directional pruning you will end up with better structured trees that can hold fruit and delivery harvests for many years to come. I hope this video help you better understand the practice of directional bud pruning.
