Okay, I subscribed yesterday, here are my basics: I am 69, fit, weight training and exercise 3 times a week, on pension (lack of funds). Started getting rid of my lawn in August 2021, Used cement slabs as barriers to keep grass at bay. Have a compost bin and a smaller one. Understand my micro climates in my veggie patches now, have sacrificial plants, do not mind sharing with bugs a bit. Still expanding what I grow, use 32 by 32cm squares for my planting. Wind barrels through my back yard, planning wind barriers as well as shade for summer. Neglected food forest in front yard. That's about how I roll at the moment. I think that being in the Cape flats part of Cape Town I can learn from you so a big thank you as I join in your journey.
Wow, wow, wow 💚 thank you so very much! Your contribution makes a big difference and I really hope that this video series brings a lot of value to your gardening journey 🌻🌻🌻
These videos should be interesting. I am one generation off from people who actually raised and preserved most of food they ate. I started trying this several years ago and have reduced my grocery bill at least a third. I learned a lot from the old folks but a radical new way of gardening has come into being and I am only getting started adapting to it. This is the first year I have started using heirloom seed for example. I am looking forward to this upcoming video series-You can always learn something new.
Oh wow, that's amazing, that's a skill I have absolutely zero knowledge on (preserving & canning) but I'll get there one day 😁 yeah, there are so many moving parts with how things have progressed but at the same time I am trying to take a step back and simply things as gardening has become overly complex in the name of companies wanting to make money. If there is anything specific you would like me to cover, or that you would like to share so I can share that then please just let me know 🌻
It's actually been the opposite, sadly 😔 it's been such an anxious year because of the move but I'm at peace with it because I know just how much work is waiting for me on the new land. It's going to be so, so rough 😂 during the quieter time and me having to start again from scratch I thought it's the perfect time to bring everyone on the journey and share everything there is to know about starting a new vegetable garden from scratch. Here's to hoping it's as good as I'm thinking it will be 🤞🏼
Glad to hear! After 2 1/2 years of gardening I should be a pro by now. But alas! I have just realised that 60% of the vegetable garden (which is what we've put in in the last year) gets no sun in winter the whole day. It's not looking happy about it. But it's the only space I had. So hence, I look forward to your upcoming videos...
Yaaaay, so happy to hear you are excited about it 💚 Yes, what you are experiencing is what a lot of people experience which can be incredibly frustrating. I'll be as comprehensive as possible on this one just for you 🌻
I have just finished watching your video Craig. I am so excited. This is absolutely awesome news! YAY.! My prayers have been answered. Now I get to learn from the get go. You are starting from the beginning, with all your experience, experimenting and knowledge. This is going to give me confidence to continue. I have been learning the hard way. In a new environment and trying to figure out the 'Why". And of course living in SA. This an added Bonus🙌👍 I am definitely sharing this good news with my garden family and friends. So grateful, as this has come at the right time. ❤🤗❤️ 💚🌿💚♻️💚🌱💚🌿💚♻️💚🌱💚🌿💚♻️💚
Aw, thanks Pam for yet another absolutely wonderfully supportive comment 🙏 I'm so incredibly happy to hear that you are excited about this new series and I really hope you get some really good value from them and who knows...maybe it can turn into a book one day 😁
