Next to an evolution powered big twin the evos for sure is the most reliable Harley made in the Modern Age. I don't need the extra power the extra complication the extra expense of having a bigger and faster bike my Sportster satisfies me just fine. I love riding through orange groves when the orange is in Blossom we have the sweetest smelling air on Earth in Florida.
I agree, I live in Winter Haven FL. The orange blossom time is sweet riding time.
Tinkering here and there is very therapeutic, especially if you have your favorite tunes playing in the background.
You got that right!
Great progress Cory on the invisible Sportster
Might keep an eye on weather conditions up this way, I'd put some blue over black an black over blue paint an sand them to look worn, also go with rusty/crusty pipes, I'd find some 60s-70s, colored sparkle throttle grips
Hey that might work
Busy hands for sure. Compliments of the season to you and your wife.
Thank you, Steve.
Idk what happened , restarted video n it’s fine, but great video as always 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I've had zero issues with the Dyna S ignition on my 77' XLCH.
Happy trails.👍
Merry Christmas 🙏
not sure if its something you need or want to use but there is a channel called "Brickhouse Builds" he sells this wiring type kit for older bikes. it has switches and controller things. he has several vids on how to wire it up . there are 2 types , he explains which to you use depending on how your bike is meant to run. i figured i would mention it in case it could help. good vid
Coming along nicely man. Have a safe trip up to WV and Merry Christmas if i don't talk to you before you get back.
Thanks!
It's coming together! You have lots of choices to make with that rigid mount scooter. I have a rubber mount 2006 XL1200, the last of the carburetor bikes, and the main thing I wish was different was no ability to go to old school points or nose cone type electronic ignitions. They have a points cover but there is nothing behind it, and no port to time it between the cylinders. I would love to have the ability to have a spare ignition with me on the road... It's too bad that you guys haven't had the time to make the van into a bike hauling camper yet. That would be very cool. Probably too cold in West Virginia to ride at Christmas, anyway... Merry Christmas, you two!
I hear ya, Tommy. That's one reason I don't want anything past 2003.
@@SaddleTrampTV The vibes are low on the rubber mounts but I would like the DIY peace of mind of a spare ignition, and carrying a spare ECM is not gonna happen.
Looks like a lot of fun in your garage, and also a merry christmus to you and your lady, from the cold and rainy Netherlands.
On the 1990s Sportster the oil line drain is on the left side right under the plate with your electronics there should be a little nub on the frame that the hose hooks to and then obviously you have to put a clamp around it I have a 90 and that's the way mine is anyway just thought I'd drop that little bit information hope it does you some good have a wonderful day buddy God bless
Thanks, man. I'll take a closer look.
Something I've learned by wrenching on many bikes and cars over the years is that one should build up a large supply of common and various fasteners rather than running down to a store every time I need one. Another thing I've learned is that the best and most economical way to do that is to order them from McMaster Carr by the box, and to store them in parts boxes made for that specific purpose. Yeah, it's a pretty hefty outlay at first, but the time and aggrevation saved makes it very well worth it. I've done this over several decades, so my outlay has been mitigated...but ya gotta start somewhere! The art and science of fasteners is something every fabricator needs to understand!
I've held on to every spare nut and bolt over the years, and it's been helpful. But periodically there's that one oddball fastener that I've got to go down the road for.
Corey, great to see that mind is still ticking even though it's hard to figure out what exactly is going on inside it. Looks like there's plenty. Anyway, wishing you safe travels and a Merry Christmas. The same for your Mrs.. Thanks for Sharing!
Hey Craig! Thanks!
@@SaddleTrampTV I don't know why you don't respond to my messages on another if it's just me or you just racist but let's try this again what happened to the
Ultra classic the older one what quit on you on the interstate
@@kendallbillington4143 Hey, man. Sorry about that. Sometimes I don't see every comment or forget to respond. It was the voltage regulator that quit. It's all good and running now.
@@SaddleTrampTV okay well I want to see more videos of it and the reason I said that abou 2t you must be racist because you like my comment
@@kendallbillington4143 I'm far from that. Personally, I believe that anyone with that kind of mindset has an I.Q. of a crayon.
Looks fun
I got an evo Sporty, I really, really really need a tank lol. My dad dropped a 2x4 on my bike that was holding my light while we were doing some work on my spark plugs this last summer, long story, but it's a small tank anyways, so I was on the lookout for a tank for me. Don't care color. Would b3 nice to go more than a 100 miles per tank. Also, It was great to see you today Corey. God bless you sir.
That's looking good Corey awesome Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas saddletramp! Good to get an update. Have a blast next weekend!!
West Virginia, my kin folk are originally from West Virginia. I knew there was something more than just motorcycles that I like about you.
Love those handlebars! Be cool to have a magneto. I want one for my 98 heritage
brass elbow for the oil tank??? cheers mate & merry xmass from Down Under
Great project bro. Got me tuned in: I have a 01 Sportster project, an 883 punched up to 1250 by Hammer inc. in N. Idaho: a TC BROS hardtail & stuff , so a bike in a box. . . But it's a roller chassis.
I like your approach, "Uhh, dont know everything, but . . Here we go!" Like my back alley way!! Lol
Dig it, man!
@@SaddleTrampTV always a pleasure, brother. The awesome Love of Christ to you, in all its unreachable ways.

Merry Christmas to you, man!
Awesome video, Saddle Tramp! Wishing you and the Mrs. a very Merry Christmas.
Thanks, my friend. You too.

Do it, man!
Hello Corey, stay with it. Merry Christmas to you and the Missus. God bless you both.
Thanks! You too!

Working on my end.
Looks like it is coming together pretty well, By the way thank you for the comment on my last video, thank you!!! I am hopeful my channel will grow over time, pretty sure it will. Take care and God's Blessings to you and your family this Christmas season.
Sure thing, Xan. Merry Christmas to you as well.
Hello Corey, nice video, and wish you all Merry Christmas. Greetings from Holland 😎🙏🤟
Good to see where your at...soon to be a living breathing piece of iron...Paint it black n ride...✌😎
Perseverance, plus you sound like a Harley encyclopedia.dude I swear you know alot about.that old iron. 8:35
All from trial and error. There's still a lot I don't.
@@SaddleTrampTV well it still sounds like you know a lot.trial & error.that’s how we all learn.
hey tramp, where in w va. ? i live inform spring. (next to Lewisburg - Greenbrier county. thanks for the great videos! Brian
Have a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year 2023 safe travels and ride free and safe.
I coulda swore a few videos ago you said you weren't going to run that bike on points.
Did your pal whip you with a fishing pole for not seeing that stump in time?
That's a pretty long trip for a 38-year-old van. Be safe and I hope you make it there and back OK. You might want to take the car.
Always good to see your videos , Merry Christmas to you and your family
Merry Christmas Corey and fellow watchers. I'm keen to see some van vids also as you're doing it up brother, pretty sure other watchers wouldn't mind that either.
Peace my brother! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Check out Derrick at “Vice grip garage” he painted a Harley for $50 with rattle cans and it shocked me. His tricks are very impressive
Leave the tank and fender the color they are and put on them rusty pipes.
Then you'll have a rat bike! 🤣🤣🤣
Go with that dyna s tech. I took the points off my 77 and put that on what a different it makes before was getting flames out the carb and tail pipes every once in a while put that on and noose flames and starts everytime without a problem just my two cents. But bike looking good. Merry Christmas to you and yours
Merry Christmas to you and yours from the deep south of New Zealand. 👌👍
Most sportsters of that time frame had a hose from that spicit that ran down to a nub that's welded to the frame you slide the hose over with a clamp to plug the end of the drain hose.
Soon be sending it down the road Corey.. Merry Christmas to you and the Mrs Godbless
Need to do a detailed tutorial on putting points on an EVO sportster… I need to do it on mine.
Not sure if the drain has been talked about. I had a late 84 sporty. Throw a hose in the drain and run it down that rear post
Merry Christmas man!
You too, Mike!
wish u were a bit closer cuz eye gots a couple rear sporster wheels & id give ya 1.
🤘
Sweet eldoblo is coming along just fine can't wait to see the van man lol good content
Make a list of what you need , and let me know , i prob. Got it , well most likey have it
First ! Its cold in WV,
I bet!
Great intro. Good to see you. The best holidays to you and Kim. Stay safe.
Thank you, Joe. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Very cool thank you for sharing
.merry Christmas Kim and corey
I LIKE those handlebars! 😎
Thanks! That makes 2 of us!
@@SaddleTrampTV
Great minds think alike! 😎
Merry Christmas to you and the Mrs. !
I dig it! The buckhorn bars and risers looks great. I broke two oil tanks on early evo sporties , just cracked along the tabs, they don’t make it easy with drain line routing either. Cheers
Hey thanks for stopping by!
Thanks and Happy Holidays.
When its finished it will be a real Frankensportster😂 greetings from Vienna/Austria/Europe
Lol
Merry Xmas from (not) sunny Northern Ireland!!! As for the bike, it will be fine!!!😌
Merry Christmas!
Good to see you keeping busy
Merry Christmas to you and the Misses! I didn't know you had a West Virginia connection, I'm just across the Mighty Tugfork in Martin County Ky
Small world, huh?
Should rename you the "Wizard" cause your always performing some kind of magic on these bikes. Hope you and the Mrs have a happy and safe holiday this year.
Thanks, Johnny. You have a nice Christmas as well.
the more patina the better
but where's the fish man???????? thanks for the updates! happy holidays 🎉
I hooked 2 but both came off before getting them in the boat.
@@SaddleTrampTV so they were both biggest 2 fish ever seen by man! 😉
There’s a glue remover that works good for cleaning chrome spoked wheels. Goof off I think that’s right. Use it with rubber gloves on and done get it on plastic stuff. It should take that paint off the rim.
Just do a little spot at a time. I use it now and then for my annual clean up. Gets all the tough road grime, tar brake dust etc.
Thanks for the video! Merry Christmas 🎄 🎅🏻
Thanks, Thomas. I'll look into that.
I'm running that same dynatek ignition on my evo roadking that i just converted from m&m to carb, simple setup, works good, 2 wires, it's almost as good as points!
Heck yeah!
All my Harleys have been one of three colors: gloss black, satin black or flat black. Merry Christmas to you and the Mrs.
You too, my friend.
Merry Christmas to you and Ms. SaddleTramp.
You too, man!
@saddletramp the 89-03 sportster oil drain line has a series of hose sections a 90° plastic elbow and another plastic elbow before getting plugged by a post on the frame under the swing arm pivot. Hope that helps
Yeah I looked for the post on the frame, but this one doesn't have one. Thanks for the info though.
My 88 fxrs low rider has the same thing.
I think it was 1993 Fatboy that had a tube for an oil drain. I could be wrong, my memory is not like it once was.
@@donnafarmer3120 You're correct. My 94 heritage is the same way.
@@SaddleTrampTV no worries. Even with the post missing from the frame the elbow combination would still route it to the low side of the bike and the same area as the primary drain plug. But I'm sure you'll figure something functional out
Merry Christmas!
Looks like fun 😂
You should legit leave it as it sits when finished. No paint all mismatched for that full rat rod effect
Maybe
Merry Christmas Tramp, 💚❤️!
Same to you!
Hey Corey,
Good luck with the build, I look forward to seeing the finished product.
My apologies for not being around, I've been so busy with my church that, well
Either way, Merry Christmas to you and your family brother.......
Hey, Jersey. No worries. There's more to life than youtube. Ask me how I know. Good to see you again. Thanks for coming by.

Merry Christmas to you and Misses brother
You too, Shane! Thanks!
You hit a gator. Probably 13-14 ft.
Doubt it. They're in hibernation this time of year.
@@SaddleTrampTV Yeah, whatever. You can see him if you watch it in super slo-mo. He’s wearing an eye-patch. Lucky you weren’t killed.
Looks like you got the easy part done! lol
Yep. Lookin like it.
👍👍
👍🖖
Merry Christmas Tramp.😎
You too!
Going to look good when it’s finished 😎👍
I wanna go to Florida, hunt and hunt a gator. I want a seat for my dyna, a belt amd some boots. Then donate the rest to the homeless so it doesn't get wasted.
Looks like you have a bike coming together. I had an 84 Iron head that I rode for 23 years. I still kick myself for selling it when I got my 99 Softail Custom. Not that I do not love the Softie, but I had a load of fun on the Sportster. Now that they have stopped producing the Sportster as we know it, they will be even more in demand. Well, I am 82 years old, and really have no need for 2 motorcycles. But, it was in absolute perfect condition and a great ride. Every time I see yours, it reminds me of how much fun I had on mine.
So I will just sit here watching your video's and drool. Thank you for that. LOL.
Ha! I still regret not buying the '84 I test rode yrs. ago. Lol
There was the '80 that my best friend had, but when he died his wife grabbed it. . .
Howsomever I have a '74 that I chopped, nice ride. Good memories of us both. Merry Christmas friend!
Thanks, and a Merry Christmas to you also. Sportsters are real fun bikes. I should have kept mine. But I do love the comfort of the Softie with the pillow seat and buckhorn bars. It is like sitting in my Lazy Boy recliner. At 82 years old with a bad back the old Softail Custom is a comfort for me. And it is dead reliable. But, it only has 64,000 miles on it. I have only done two things major to me since I got it. One stator, and replaced the inner cam bearing for peace of mind. Done in my own garage on the floor. IT had 17,000 miles on it when I bought it in 2009.
Awe, thanks Jim
""83-93 battery tray part# (66191-83) as it has the 1/2“ welded nipple under it to terminate the oil drain hose.""
Hmm... I'll take a look. Thanks!
Looks like you need to make a couple flea market trips or swap meets. There’s something nice about going old school traveling around looking for old parts, or you can just stay in your Jammie’s and eBay it lol. Merry Christmas Corey.
I've actually built a whole motorcycle from the internet before. Crazy, huh?
@@SaddleTrampTV It really is a thing of beauty
