Seattle: Kurt Cobain Park

Are you a bad person for wanting to see where Kurt Cobain died? And not just died, but violently took his own life after a long, sad battle with depression and drug addiction? Short answer: No. Longer answer: No, as long as you don't trespass or misbehave. The house at 171 Lake Washington Blvd. East-more specifically, the benches in park next to it-is all Nirvana fans have. Cobain has no grave and, until April of this year, no memorial. (His hometown of Aberdeen, Washington, erected a statue in his honor by the famous Young Street Bridge.) After Cobain's suicide in early April of 1994, fans flocked to Viretta Park, and 17 years later, they still do by the thousands every year. Even Google Maps calls it "Kurt Cobain Park."

I went to that park last month and it was such a mix feeling I went to the park and house where one of my heroes died and your happy but just sad idk it felt weird though it’s something I’ll never forget

I am no millionaire, & I don't live in Seattle, but I think the so called fans bring that on themselves, don't litter, don't write on the fence, don't trespass & I think you will find they are OK people, if you want to leave something, leave a message on the bench, but don't leave behind burning candle's, empty beer cans, needles and whatever else for somebody else to clean up

i have seen it many times sadly the very spot where he died now has a swing set for the new owners kids the best view is to walk up the steps look over the fence and to the right of the property line at the rear is where the green house/guest house used to be .....the snobby milionares in the area cant stand fans gatherng there and if you hang out to long the madrona /medina neighborhood watch will call the pigs on you i have sincwe moved from seattle but this is a very special place to fans
