    Thanks for ur feedback. After reading a lot of reviews, this is exactly why I am getting the robot, namely improving footwork, backhand and short ball flicks. Getting the 1050+ as it is a lot cheaper and can be easily converted to 2050. Thanks ur post helped me in the decision.

      The 1050+ is a decent robot too. Hope it helps you improve. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    There should be more of these around that people could share practice time on. That way it does not need to be so expensive if you split it between ten people or so.

    does this robot have a 'random shot' mode?

  • @velvetpaws999
    @velvetpaws999 4 года назад +1

    Hi Tom, thanks for the great demo, very informative!
    I am intrigued about how this robot feeds itself the balls... you showed it, but not in detail. Does it just somehow grab the returned balls in the catch-net?
    And what technical differences exist between the 1050 and the 2050? Thanks!

    • @TomLodziak
      @TomLodziak  4 года назад

      Yes, the balls land in a tray which is tilted, so the balls move to the electronic feeder which sucks the balls up. It's very effective and reliable. A very good feature. The robo-pong 1050 has the same controller, but doesn't have the collection net and ball recycling feature.

    • @larrythoman9661
      @larrythoman9661 4 года назад +5

      As the Project Manager for the 2050, I know this model intimately. The ball feeder doesn't suck up balls, but rather by gravity, a ball rolls down toward a Pickup Finger and once on that finger, the ball is pushed up into the ball channel and eventually out the other end of the ball channel where it is grabbed by the throw wheel and thrown forward. There once was a robot (Sitco) that did suck up balls with a vacuum, but it was finicky and didn't always work correctly.

    Can you create no spin balls? Also is the the amount/strength of spin proportional to speed of the ball? Can you get the robot to do slow spinny top spin loops?

    • @RobertoCostas

    Tom, what kind of table you recommend for home practice with the 2050 roboot?

    • @TomLodziak
      @TomLodziak  2 года назад

      Get as good a table as you can afford. A 19mm table is fine. A 22mm table is better. A 25mm table is a brilliant option. Here is some more advice: www.tabletenniscoach.me.uk/tips-buying-table-tennis-table-home/

      have you heard about trainer bot? I am thinking of considering it

    • @TomLodziak
      @TomLodziak  7 лет назад +1

      I just had a quick look on the trainer bot website trainerbot.com/ - It looks quite fun. I like how it can be controlled by your smartphone. My main concern is that it wouldn't be able to hold more than 20-30 balls (unless I'm missing something). This means you'd need to constantly refill it, which would be a bit annoying.

    • @christianadriananiceta2753
      @christianadriananiceta2753 7 лет назад

      yeah... I think I can just buy a net but 30 balls every round is still quite lacking

    Super speed! haaaa. Seriously though - must be great to have space for a table at home and to have a robot like that. Like you say, it's not really fair to ask a partner to just play balls at you while you practice the same shot for half and hour (unless you're paying them!). Good video, thanks.

    • @TomLodziak
      @TomLodziak  7 лет назад +5

      Thanks! The table is a tight squeeze and it does compete with all kinds of other stuff in the garage - bikes, tools, bags of old clothes. One day I'd like to build a proper table tennis studio in my garden. Now, that would be cool!

    Should we clean the balls during training session to avoid dirt going to the robot?

    • @TomLodziak
      @TomLodziak  6 лет назад +3

      You could clean the balls if you are concerned about dust, dirt and grime getting into the robot. But I have never bothered and my Robo-Pong 2050 has always been fine.

    • @julioshoyu
      @julioshoyu 6 лет назад

      Tom Lodziak thank you!

    • @larrythoman9661
      @larrythoman9661 4 года назад

      It is good to clean the balls occasionally, especially if the floor has a lot of dirt. If the balls have a lot of dirt on them, especially if it is moist or gritty dirt, it can cause ball feed issues. Also dirt on the balls will rub off onto the throw wheel and once on the wheel will decrease the wheel's ability to apply spin to the ball. When I worked at Newgy, we used a product called Rubber Drive Cleaner to keep the wheels clean. I also saw where cement dust was picked up by balls rolling on a cement floor and was deposited onto several parts in the head and these parts became quite worn and had to be replaced.
