This whole thing of figuring demons' gender is confusing. The origin of Tamamononae is from China. The demons in China are capable of shape-shifting most of the times; they can change their gender as they wish as well. Before they were able to reach the state of becoming demon they had specific gender, but not after they become a demon. Demons from the east are not always necessarily evil or good, they are magical beings with strong power. The nine-tailed fox was playing female roles most of the time, while there is never a true evidence to determine the gender of the fox.
@@DemoriaBerg I guess they are like "Diablos" and "Angeles" here in Spain. Diablos are like really high rank Demons, and usually are not gendered if they are high rank because they do not "show" to be any, actually, sothey dont shapeshift gender, they just dont have. The low rank demons "Demonios" have gender to stray humans, they are ranged from Brujas and Sucubos/Incubos (Witches and Sucubus/Incubus) to Dragons who are about to ascend into Diablos. Tamamo No Mae would be a strong Diablo. There are many side depictions, like Diablos being Fallen Angels, thus "Original Demons" and that is why they are stronger, but they are usually able to display a non gendered beauty that captivates beyond gender.
