Our ancestors also ate a diet suited to our species. We are meant to eat meat--not processed food, seed oils, carbohydrates, sugar and vegetables. Fruit would have been seasonal and perhaps eaten to help fatten us up for the coming harsh winter. Many people report that they can tolerate more direct sun on their skin when following a carnivore diet.
Diet affecting our sun tolerance makes sense. I just returned from a family party where almost everyone complained about the heat but I was enjoying it so much and I still don't have a solid tan. The major difference between my family and myself is our diet 🤔
I disagree with not eating vegetables. We need to stop narrowing our foods down to one or two food groups. That is incorrect and harmful in the long road. God intended us to eat and live seasonally, and that includes vegetables.
@@chrisstoner7686 Your body, your choice. We can all decide for ourselves what or what not to put inside our bodies. One good thing about the carnivore diet is that once you have eliminated everything but meat for a few months, one may choose to add a plant or vegetable and see how your body responds.

I noticed that my skin looks much better regarding photoaging compare when I was using sunscreen and avoiding the sun. I am carnivore too. I have very little plant food like avocado and sometimes fermented food. My mom has vitiligo, she used to eat “perfectly healthy “ diet low on animal products and rich in grains and veggies. She never used sunscreen but developed allergic reaction to the sun and then vitiligo.

Terrific summary doc. The points you raised are so important IMO and shouldn't be left out of any discussion regarding sun-seeking behavior and exposure. Thank you.
Thanks for your insights. Theoretically, I have a skin-type-latitude mismatch. I grew up around 52 °N, as did my parents. I now live around 10 °N, eat a carnivore diet and I take nap under the sun around noon every day. I never burn and I never use sunscreen. Also, People of northern latitudes might also be living at a high altitude, with lots of UV, as in the Alps.
Any opinions about a mole on my arm that bubbled underneath it. I squished it bunch. Then the mole itself shrivled up in a few days and it peeled off easily. Is that finally some restoration to the skin. I was sun phobic and you started to chip that away 3 months ago. Shirt off in the car and sun roof every day. Then you mentioned jack kruse and he is a brain buster of guy. If he didn't tear his knee would we be here in this light. I had to mole at least 10-15 years. Not sure.
Huberman also totally neglected the connection between the gut and sun exposure plus the artificial light (particularly at night) and where that plays in to all of this.
To be fair, it was a skin-health episode. Andrew is also trying to stick to what dermatologists tell him because he’s obviously bothered by mainstream scientists calling him a quack. I’ve heard him say in multiple places that sunlight is really good for you as long as you don’t get sunburned.

One of the most important conversations today. Our current biology is largely baked in by evolution. We need to focus on this rather than drugs and medicines - many of which have negative side effects...even sunscreen.
6:00 you mention those women in the long-term study with the greatest sun-avoidance behavior had the greatest mortality, that the intermediate group had slightly less mortality, and that the group that had the greatest sun-seekimg behavior had the greatest mortality.
