    This is a ridiculously easy problem to have on an L322 you should be happy that it's just an airbag super easy to replace

    @nolanstaveley-haynes2129 2 года назад +8

    Absolutely it's necessary to change them as a pair so the ride height sensors can perform factory reset. Just be careful you don't burn out the compressor. It's not massive money at all to have these changed. The rear are easier, but I would just crack on get it done then carry on motoring.

    Take a look at it yourself. Keeping an older Range Rover on the road needs you to be comfortable with spanners or at least willing to have a crack at it. Garage bills can be ruinous otherwise. I changed the engine in mine on the driveway 😂😂

    I just had that exact one replaced 2 days ago on my L322. I was really torn on doing it myself or letting my local reputable indie shop doing it. I decided to let them do it, because I wasn’t sure it was the airbag. I couldn’t hear any leaking, but it was collapsing under various conditions. My shop had it done in a few hours. He charged me $1100 USD(ouch!), but at least it was done properly and quickly with parts at hand. As it’s my daily driver I needed it back in commission ASAP. It does ride like a new car - on that corner. I can feel that the other front corner is tired, but still usable. The mechanic said it would need to be replaced soon, but didn’t need it yet. Perhaps I will do that one on my own. I would suggest doing the fronts as a pair. Oh and as a side note, my mechanic said the rear airbags NEVER go out on him. He can’t even remember replacing one. At least there’s that.

    yea that sounds like an split airbag ......it happens .....normal on a high mileage car

  • @Brayco864

    It’s either the piping, the connector or the whole front strut…… the piping and connector is relatively cheap ….. the front strut will involve changing both struts ( with their in built air bags ). You can’t change just the bag on the front as it’s built into the strut ….. but you can on the back of the car as the bag is separate. If it’s the two front struts it will be pretty expensive to cover and you shouldn’t replace just one, as you indicated Next is just general advise…. Buying a Range Rover does come with known reliability issues and costs. If your a bit uncomfortable covering the ongoing costs then It’s best to cough and pass on Range Rovers altogether.

    Ok at the end of the day you brought it blind folded and now you are paying for it and in my eyes it's become a expensive lemon 🍋 the best thing you can do is send it for a full check ✔️ then really think will it be worth spending on if not get one with service history and do a reg check

    Get yourself a garden sprayer, fill with water and washing up liquid, get the wheel off, and spray in the strut area, look for foaming bubbles, you’ll see where it’s leaking… could be the airline pipe connection on top, easy free fix to reconnect, could be the base of the airbag, and could just be grit around the seal, or could be a holed airbag. It’s not uncommon, but it’s not always an airbag, yours sounds so loud, it will be easy to find!

    Its like repair shops see a range rover and see the pound signs whizzing round in their heads ker ching. Its best to learn as much as you can about rangeys and just be confident with tackling the easy to do minor jobs to save as much money as possible.

    Check the 4x4 info screen and look at the ride height indicator /level. If 1 tire looks like it's bouncing around, it the ride height sensor. Easy fix. Happened to mine. Otherwise it's a bad air shock

  • @benfel9403
    @benfel9403 2 года назад

    It is nothing major. Just an air leak. Your best bet is to find a really reputable Land Rover specialist. The Land Rover air suspension system is pretty robust if it is looked after, and nothing like as expensive as the Audi one to look after. If that leak has been there for a while on a smaller scale then you may well have put a lot of stress on your air compressor, so that might need replacing sooner rather than later also. If the leak is the air spring you should still replace in pairs unless the other one is new. As others have said, some soapy water in a spray bottle will allow you to see. Given your car is dropping though, do not get underneath it to spray etc.! Annoying I know, but pretty simple to sort with someone who knows what they are doing. Good luck with it.

      Ive had 2 l322 cars fone over 200k miles and had 1 starter replaced and 1 alternator and a rotery gear knob changed.
      Nor one other issue and think alternator caused by recovery guy who put charging cables in wrong way around and blew alternator.
      All this range rovers are crap and expensive nonsense is silly.
      Get a good specialisr and no different to any other expensive car.
      Bmw merc bentley jaguae aston martin all expensive for parts.
      I buy from euro car parts and really good value as bosche etc make oem parts.
      With their discount codes can get 40 or 50% off too.

    I have a P38 (1997) 4.6 HSE, 93,000 miles. When I bought it in Manila some years ago, the air suspension had already been changed to springs. This is commonly done. Ditch the air cushions and go for something more conventional.
