  • In this video, I take you through the step-by-step process of fixing my Range Rover L322 3.6 TDV8. Instead of going the OEM route, I opted for second hand parts and aftermarket parts saving a significant amount of money without compromising on performance.
    Here's what you'll see in this video:
    - Detailed diagnosis of the issues
    - Comparison between OEM and aftermarket parts
    - A breakdown of the total cost savings

    I've got a 3.6 2010 L322. It's been great. Done 145k miles now, over 100k of them with me. A keeper. Still drives the same as when I bought it.

      @@DrivenPlus Get your gearbox oil flushed/changed. You should do this regularly i.e 12000 miles. I have the same car owned for past 8 years.

    If you follow LR Time from Germany they have many videos about the problems and solutions and the fix to the engine so it doesn’t fail.

    The 4.4 tdv8 is definitely the better of the two v8 diesels despite having a DPF. Blank the EGRs in the 3.6 and remap it with a decent map and it will fly and breathe cleaner. Also fit a back box delete and it will sound superb.

    Short story . Had a 4.4 v8 2015 diesel for years cost 3-5 k a year in odd repairs and maintenance you don’t math.
    Engine has been amazing though but could have gone because I had an oil leak and didn’t even realise . The car never brought up a warning light but thankfully I change the oil every 9-13k and caught a potential engine seizure . You know some people won’t even change the oil every 20k 😂

    You should mention the fellows who did the remove and replace on the engine. It looks like they did a great job at a bargain price. I am sure people in the UK would love to do business with them.
    BTW - who made the engine? Ford, BMW or ??? I lose track of Range Rover engine suppliers. Ineos was smart to use the straight 6 non-turbo BMW in their Grenadier.

    • @DrivenPlus
      @DrivenPlus  Месяц назад

      Of course I would’ve mentioned them but they didn’t want to be.
      But you’re right they did a great job. This engine is Ford

    Which garage did the engine swap for you? I have a 3.6tdv8 on 135k and I'm expecting to embark on this anytime. My father had one exactly the same and blew the turbos. He had so much trouble finding someone who was willing and available to do the work he ended up scrapping the car.

    Thought it was just the 3.0 diesel that had the snappy crankshaft that were the problem engines.

    • @dannyrobbo
      @dannyrobbo Месяц назад +1

      2.7s were the bad ones for that. All because a journal beating wasn’t tabbed and would shift if the oil pressure or quality was bad. Regular oil changes pretty much eliminate it as an issue though.

    Poor servicing to blame. There are two oil drain plugs. The difficult one is often ignored . This is the one that serves the turbos . The sludge builds up in this area and gets continually sucked back into the turbos

    • @DrivenPlus
      @DrivenPlus  Месяц назад

      The car has been regularly serviced and tbf for the turbos to last to 172k is pretty good

    My Range Rover lunched its whole engine after the bearing shells rotated on the crank and blocked all the oil ways at 100,000miles. I wouldn’t touch another one with a ten trillion foot barge pole, and nor would most insurance companies

    The fact that it's a Range Rover is the problem, these are poorly built cars hence the unending problems, I hope the "new" engine won't develop the same or another problem. 🙏
