This helped me out a whole lot.Thank you so much for doing what you just did.I'm working on the 20 11th 70 miles away right now.Changing the crank position sensor thank you tony
Bro I've spent 2 days now trying to figure out what was going on and I finally thought about this I'm so glad you made this freaking video man and it doesn't look that complicated thank God
Brother you probably saved me somewhere between 2 days and literally a weeks worth of time. Thank you. I am NOT a mechanic, I do NOT have friends, and I am NOT rich. So this really helped my stupid ass.
A very common problem with 2.4 echo's is a stretched timing chain. I suspected my 2011 malibu when viewing live data on my basic scanner I noticed ignition timing running slow. It was running around 7 degrees advanced idling at 700 rpm's and would drop negative when the engine was rev'ed. I started researching the timing chain issues and when I pulled the valve cover sure enough. It was throwing codes p0335 and p340. I chased my tail around pretty good on that one.
Jésus , youre engine is si clean , I Do not know where you live but I am amaze , and thanks many Times for sharing with us your knowledge . Help more than you can think . 5 ⭐
Aye I have a 2012 Malibu it cut off while I was driving and now when I try to crank it cut back off do you think it’s the crankshaft sensor because I already tried the camshaft sensor
Thanks for the video I tore off the dam wires into the pigtail had no damn clue what colors went where opened up the inside of the connecter and replaced everything like it was before damn at least now I know where color wire goes where 😂
Chris Wagner yes that’s a symptom of a bad or failing crankshaft position sensor. Same with check engine light being on, and starting issues. But I’m not saying that’s the problem there’s other things that can cause your engine to stall. I’d recommend taking it to a shop or going to auto zone or O’Reilly’s, they have OBD scanners you can use or they can do it for you for free and it can tell you what’s going on.
2008 SATURN V UE I have a no start after sluggish start on a 2008 saturn vue. I don't have the 3.6, I have this here 2.4L so after days of searching online and not being able to find my haynes, I've been back and forth enough to find this location for the crankshaft position sensor. 45$ ish for part and then follow this guide. OMG I hope this saved someone some headaches looking. It is above the starter and you can see it from top but can't get to it. on the 3.6 08 vue, it's behind the motor not where it is here.
@@elissesmith5340 yea you definitely had to. Mines started driving worse after I changed it and I ended up taking it to the dealership to get it relearned.
I have a 2008 Chevy Malibu throwing codes P0315 P0325 P1682 I’ve replaced knock sensor and crankshaft position sensor still not fixed please help if you can
Anyone have the exact size of the bolt on this sensor? I know it's an 8mm head, but I've stripped the bastard and need to replace it, and there's not one in the new sensor box.
I have the same on my malibu,a mechanic told me cause my car dosen't have oil ,and I said it has the 15% left, we check the oil by old times ,and it was so low on oil,and that can cause the crankshaft malfunction and sometimes dosen't want to start
I did oil change with proper oil and even did timing chain job because I had a p0016 and p0017 now its only p0016 and I dont know the issue and check engine won't go away
May be can be a defective sensor, when you change it disconnect the battery first and then change ,jus take it to auto zone and tell will tell u if it is another think, I will change oil on monday I hope it works

Great video straight to the point very easy to understand great work

Bro thank you so much!!
That was great info thank you
I have a code p0315 crankshaft position system variation not learned what does than mean. Should I change out the crankshaft sensor
I think after change crank sensor needs to be relearned ??
Damn has the car had any use? It's so clean, it looks new.
Aye I have a 2012 Malibu it cut off while I was driving and now when I try to crank it cut back off do you think it’s the crankshaft sensor because I already tried the camshaft sensor
pull the connector off the camshaft sensor, then start it. If it keeps running then the problem in the camshaft circuit (sensor or solenoids).
Yes. I'm having the same problem. Unplugged camshaft sensor turned key over which started car and plugged it back in
It was my crankshaft sensor. But could also be the camshaft sensors, if not the crankshaft sensor.
Got the same issue. Is yours fixed ?
Thanks for the video I tore off the dam wires into the pigtail had no damn clue what colors went where opened up the inside of the connecter and replaced everything like it was before damn at least now I know where color wire goes where 😂
You can reach it with a 6 or 8in rachet extender from under the hood may be a tight squeeze with you hand to pull it out though
Do u have a video of removing the camshaft sensor A & B
Will a bad crank shaft sensor make your engine have reduced engine power on a 2.4L Malibu 2012
Possibly a strecthed timing chain
Would a bad crank sensor cause a car to shut off while driving it.

Was the sensor and the timing chain guides were broke
@@chriswagner5617 what did you end up doing?
Replaced the sensor and new timing chain
@@chriswagner5617 Was the timing chain rattling?
Looks like its right under intake manifold. Wouldn’t it be easier just removing intake manifold?
yes
Any chance a bad cranckshaft sensor make the rpm gauge stop working?
Yes
Absolutely 💯
@@JJ-ub6lvmy rpm not working when cranking I’m getting a crank no start
@@JJ-ub6lvso that will make my rpm gauge not move up when cranking the car right?
That’s what I want to know

Would it cause a crank no start

Exelente my friend thanks... good job... I have the same problem. Thanks.
Thank you!
my 2012 has code p0017 can that be the crankshaft sensor
yes it could be one of the causes because the crankshaft sensor can throw a p0016 or a p0017 as one of its codes
I had a p0017. Ended being the camshaft reluctor ring shifted. Had to replace the camshaft.
Thx!
Is it the same for a 3.6?
Did you have to do the relearn thing once you changed it?
Did you ever find the answer?

Helped a lot on a 2009 Pont G6
Would have never found the top starter bolt.

The best way is throwing the piece of American car shit out and buying a toyota . All this car ever did was give me headaches
Thanks very much
How many CPS are on 2011 Malibu?
There are "2" camshaft position sensors on my 2012 Malibu 2.4L. 1 on the front right of the engine. The 2nd is in the rear right of the engine.
Anyone have the exact size of the bolt on this sensor?

I just went to online and purchased a different sensor that came with a bolt.
Same for a 2013 2.5?
Alex Hernandes yeah same spot
Is it the same for a 2012
edgar alvarez should be similar
