I love Modest Mouse so much. A criminally underrated and underappreciated band. You're one of the few big reactors that's reached deeper into their catalog than "Float On" and you've got my gratitude for that!
I think the bit about "make a point to make no sense" could be to give the impression of becoming old and argumentative, like someone in a habit of lobbing verbal hand grenades just to keep the other person off balance. Just a hunch I have, I can't point to any specific lyrics to show that's the real meaning.
I always felt like the "grass grows green, and it's just everyone" is like a very general sense of antisocialness. I feel like Isaac Brock interjects a lot of moments of kind of, inconsistent, illogical annoyance - can you step away from the screen? it's not that i don't want you to be seen - just not like everyone - it's just everyone. Kind of a hopelessness like he doesn't even understand the problem, he just knows that there's something to the perception of general society that irks him. Grass grows green is put in to accentuate the simplicity of this problem - water is wet, grass grows green, and he just has a problem with everyone.
I get what you're saying, and I like your take. But I always thought "grass grows green" was just shortened from that old saying that the grass grows always grows greener on the other side of the fence. And that stepping away from the screen was about the TV screen. The overall sense I get from this bit is of someone who's got complacent about how he treats someone close to him, probably a lover, distracting himself with domestic comforts and thinking of greener pastures.
Loved your analysis! You'd definitely enjoy the rest of Modest Mouse's catalog, lyrics are a huge draw. Recommend "Spitting Venom" or "Teeth Like Gods Shoe Shine"!
Modest Mouse - “Parting Of The Sensory” is my favorite song of theirs
Parting of the Sensory would be a good one. Would be great to to hear MrLBoyd react to that one.
It's wild how many quintessential songs were on We Were Dead
A beautifully intense song. One of my favs
Every modest mouse song has been my favorite one at some point. It’s a catalog that will connect with everyone if they listen to enough of it.
“Almost feels like a poem”
MM has always had beautiful lyrics.
The ocean breathes salty!
I love energy

Spittin Venom, next please. Or Cowboy Dan
A second for Spitting Venom
Love modest mouse.
Modest Mouse is my fav band. There are so many songs you could react to!. King rat or Doin' the Cockroach are great ones
Love you for staying with us and this band might be a deserved new affliction.
Poetry over music... U are correct sir.
Would recommend either Bukowski, black Cadillacs, or Good news for people who love bad news

My favorite line from this band is " my opinions are like kittens I was giving them away" kinda sums up Issac Brock in a nut shell
Yay!!!! I found you. I'm so excited 🎉🎉🎉🎉
"This song is a thought experiment. "
Every song they've made is a thought experiment. Check out "Teeth Like God's Shoeshine" or "Doing the Cockroach"
It's a poem/song about walking into a breakup you see/feel coming, and that bursting dam of a fight you know you're about to crash into.
More MM please
This is what I wanted to say.
Let's hear some reactions from Lonesome Crowded West and This Is A Long Drive For Someone Worth Noting To Thing About.
Awesome ❤️🔥 bring it on 🔥🔥

@@28yrsl8r i never made that connection, i think you’re definitely right!
Modest Mouse is awesome and so are you!
the lead singer has a tattoo of an anchor tied to a hot air balloon on his arm, so that should explain where a lot of the lyrics are coming from
Loved your analysis! You'd definitely enjoy the rest of Modest Mouse's catalog, lyrics are a huge draw.
Recommend "Spitting Venom" or "Teeth Like Gods Shoe Shine"!
Blame it on the Tetons
You should do "Doing the cockroach" or "Life like weeds" or "Tiny city made of ashes"
Love Modest Mouse...they're different
Float On is a great song!
Trailor trash is probably my favorite modest mouse. Or bankrupt on selling
