  • It's finally time for the final review of Black Ops 4 and today we're starting it off with part 1 which is everything I feel BO4 did right over the past year. Keep in mind, these are my opinions and part 2 (What BO4 did Wrong) will be coming within the next day or two. What do you think BO4 did right?

@@Chrissy717 To me, they feel like such different games that I cannot say one is obviously better. I had fun in BO3 and made jumppacking fun at times, but grew very sick of the specialists halfway through. It ran smoothly for the first part, but then got choppy as they added more MTX, which the MTX system also sucked. So in essence, it started good. WW2 started like shit, but then they made vast improvements. WW2 also has a more "feel-good" feeling to it. I guess less like they were trying to assault my wallet and intelligence.

like I said in my other comment, although the community as a whole I would say didn't enjoy bo4 zombies, it feels like mostly cry baby complaints and bo4 was pretty solid. two biggest complaints from me are almost every zombies map in bo4 is a remake, and the UI is kind of ugly and not very intuitive.

@@dankmctwist6575 I completely agree. I miss the arcade feeling cod where it was rare to actually find a skilled player and that would make you better and you learned stuff through experience instead of watching class setups. I'm fine with videos showing stats etc. But part of the reason so many people are upset with campers, C4, & Shotguns is because everyone complains about the same thing and don't even give themselves their own structured opinions. I miss old cod & youtube so much. When cod was popular it was the most perfect timing for gaming, the internet, youtube and the gaming community / industry. Thats why cod has so much nostalgia for so many. I'm glad to finally see someone else comment on that.

I think the EKIA system was actually a really good idea because it actually put value in letting team mates finish kills for you instead of worrying about "kill stealing." While the lethal abilities could be a bit much, I think the combination of things like that and the more tactical specialist abilities made objective play really fun when you were against a fair team.

LVision17 blackout was okay. It got very stale very quickly just like the rest of the game. The majority of cod players play multiplayer and I’m not saying that the other modes shouldn’t get any love , but multiplayer should be the main thing they focus on since that’s why most people buy the game.

LVision17 they didn’t make them design next years cod until a few months after bo4 released. It was sledgehammer at first. So I’d say most of this is on treyarch even though activision had a lot to do with the failure of bo4

As a massive bo2 fan I could never completely get into bo4. It just felt like a Chinese version/f2p version of bo2 and everything was worse. Ttk/boring weapons apart from a couple, less fun streaks, worse maps, specialists.
I don't think it's terrible and I do like the gunfights especially in free for all as it's mostly 1v1 and not unmanageable 1v3/1v4. This game just had a feeling as if something was off about it.

The only thing that I disagree with is map design. No verticality and few Power position. While in general I don't hate this sort of map design it gets really stale really quickly if it is the only type of map in the map pool since you can only choose between 3 boring lanes which don't allow you to flank freely and create fun strategies for your weapon type. There is no balance because I strongly believe there should be variety to map design to kind of "please everybody" if you know what I mean.
I also low key wished there was a campaign instead of Blackout or both but not one in favor of the other because of recent trends

Oh, and the Contraband system before they turned it into a slot machine. I loved the idea of grinding to achieve that shiny new gun waiting at the end of the journey. As someone who made it halfway through the Prestige Master levels this year and last year, I can happily tell you I'm a sucker for grinds.

-Crest- ya I can see what you mean. But that is is the con of being in open areas. With out much cover. It does happen a lot where you don’t know where exactly your enemy is shooting from. Which is why I like perks like paranoia. Heavy metal hero’s is a game mode they added to blackout. It has a rocket launcher operator that locks on faster and the graphics are like cartoons. Which makes it hard to see from long distances. Which why I thought you were talking about that. In regular modes you have enough time to get out of the car when targeted tho.

People seem to be unable to decipher the difference between a good and literally fun game itself, and all of the lootbox systems and cashgrabs. AND that it’s not the developer’s fault for those types of downsides. PLUS we have seen literal proof this year that Treyarch have been pushed to rake in more revenue, and squeezed tight to create a new CoD a whole year ahead of their scheduled time. This game is fun, and has unlimited replayability. The only times I get bored is after a FULL 8-12 hour day of playing, or if I’m simply having an off day. I truly mean this, I can prove it because I only started playing this game in July and I am now Prestige Master 356. Endless days of fun. ALSO, don’t forget that in the beginning, the Contraband stream was actually an extremely fair system. There were special items every 25 lvls, with 50 and 100 being brand new weapons and it’s visually seen that YOU can directly earn them without a paywall. It was only until about July/August that the system was absolutely screwed.
Of course the negatives are, the Contraband stream as we know it NOW, forcing items into reserves, and certain specialists just being too much. Ajax, Torque, and Prophet (mainly seeker drone). There were times certain weapons were OP, but tbh it’s part of a majority of CoD’s and creates dramatic moments, and those are the ones u remember, having fun with something broken before it’s patched. (S6 Stingray) AGAIN, I believe the stem of all the hate is that these weapons were eventually 100% behind an RNG lootbox, thus making these weapons comepletely unfair rather than only broken itself. With weapons in the past they would be available in a direct format, AND in the reserves. Then once the season is over, you can say to yourself dw I didn’t COMPLETELY miss my chance to get the new weapons, it’s still in the game in reserves. But when it’s ONLY in reserves from the very get-go, that where the problem arises. This started happening around July as I said before.
All in all, this has been one of my favourite CoD’s ever. This and BO2 are the top. BO2 being very nostalgic as it’s the first CoD I ever got into, and BO4 being the first one I was dominant and skilled at. Btw I didn’t suck for that long, I just lost interest in Ghosts after about 39 levels (understandably), AW was just so slow and unpolished, then I skipped 3 years, dabbled in WWII only reaching lvl 42, and then finally got back into the franchise with BO4. Since, I’ve gone back and tried all of the games I missed during my hiatus. TBH I look forward playing this game into the MW lifecycle, I’d like to get dark matter and reach lvl 1000 which still leaves so much replayability to me. Of course MW will be all the hype in the coming weeks tho.

I liked and enjoyed Black Ops 4 very much, I mostly played Blackout than Multiplayer mostly because it was Brand New and Fresh, plus Blackout is Tons of Fun and very competitive to play which I adore personally. Multiplayer was pretty good for the most part. This will be the first Treyarch COD Game I didn't reach Master Prestige (only Prestiged Four times, didn't have any real desire to keep going). Again, not because I didn't enjoy the multiplayer, I was just way more attracted to Blackout since it was very refreshing, Brand new, and it was Really Fun. Great Positive Video Review.

I remember first hopping on BO4 and hearing the music... It was insane, and gave me that same vibe that BO2 did whenever I’d play that game. I also really liked the quality of the guns in the game and the sounds they had. The reload animations were pretty solid too. Generally, the guns in BO4 were great and I enjoyed a lot of them. Honestly, the same can be said for the Specialists. While Specialists in CoD is really considered as a bad thing (which I’m not saying it isn’t), the Specialists in BO4 were better than BO3 Specialists, at least for me, with Recon, Spectre, Seraph, and Outrider, I feel that they did them better in this game.. There might be some more things I liked about it but all-in-all, I enjoyed BO4 for ‘most’ of its life cycle.

  • @XflamedrifterX
    @XflamedrifterX 4 года назад

As mostly a Zombies guy with CoD I can say Zombies felt so decisive and off compared to any other black ops zombies before. With that said I still really enjoyed. I think its a solid amount of maps and variation for a good amount of fun, but it also stripped away so much of the original charm of zombies, such as the og perks, Juggernug, SpeedCola, & Double Tap... they also changed many core mechanics and added some new ones. As a fan since w@w when i first saw the Bo4 logo I was hyped for Zombies more than anything and I even watched the announcement livestreams in classes. Bo3 was the biggest zombies experience to date and was widely well received and its now a classic zombies game. BO4 offered so much new content ( some which we never even saw, and some which were overshadowed and didn't live up to expectations. ) a featuer called factions for example was announced and was promised for launch, then in a few months and eventually never talked about again, guessing the feature was scraped. BO4 offered great maps, fun maps, but changed too many base zombies mechanics that made it feel arcade like and like you were a survivor in a unique setting or environment. For example treyarch made a creat-a-class system, including picking 4 perks before the match (which takes away unique perk machines and aesthetics, forcing the player to keep those 4 perks, and it takes the charm of random perk machines scattered through the map like all previous titles. Also you can pick a starting weapon from a variety of pistols, rifle, smg's, shotgun etc. Picking 4 elixers (which is a new and weaker approach to gobblegums/ microtransactions) which is binded to your D-Pad previously used for other items like the hacker, weapons, traps, buildables etc. you can pick 1 of 4 specialists weapons which I think bo4 made them better in a few ways except stripping them of being objectives or unlockables or feeling special since you can spawn in with them on round 1. But they can also now level up to lvl3 and I like being able to progress the weapon to have new abilities. You also can pick a single equipment which can get replaced by monkey bombs snow balls or other items in maps. I wish they just left these on the wall and binded them to the traditional tactical slot and leaving the grenade slot to monkeys or something so you don't have to sacrifice precious wraith fires, which is by far the most useful and viable option, and on some maps you NEED this equipment for specific side easter eggs or for the scattershot raygun mkII on Alpha Omega, 1 of the 4 main wonder weapons on that map mind you... i think zombie matches should start how they always have, nothing but a pistol and grenades. Waves & zombies ui are changed, but even with the benefit of these changes they have a problem for each one. High rounds now cap zombie health so most weapons are now viable with high rounds; people always use the Hellion anyways, which is stronger than some main wonder weapons and is a campers wet dream with PHD especially. Also it was neat how zombies just kept getting stronger and stronger in health but I think highrounds shouldn't be ridiculous hard. Points are also now changed, Pack a punch requires 5 separate uses to obtain maximum damage, an idea I wish that stayed back in Exo zombies. Especially whenever both IW & WWII Zombies better, IW had 2 separate paps, the first basic pap use and then a second one which can be unlocked by obtaining twin alien fuses on each map through a short hidden objective. This also changed the pap name and made most weapons significantly strong including some of the wonder weapons. On WWII if you chose to pack-punch a weapon again you would just get maxed out ammo for your gun which is really great and a function fans have wanted for years, probably even since w@w. Anyways long story short BO4 zombies was good but obviously Rushed, unpolished, and under developed due to the poor budgeting for BO4 overall because of Activision. Maps are fun and diverse, but still lacked new map features, innovations and the classic arcade & special motivation and inspiration feeling Treyarch typically always has for there games, but this is a BO4 problem overall. Zombies was really good but missed alot of marks and felt like there could've been more even though we literally had the most updates & features in zombies histroy, such as perks, amount of maps, modes, mutations, contracts, most new perks in Zombies history etc.
If this helps, here's how I rank the different zombies modes in cod history, coming from a fan of the mode for over 10 years. I Rank these based of favoritism, nostalgia, features, gameplay, functions , presentation, maps and how often I go back to these games for zombies.
    BEST
    1.BO3
    2.BO4
    3.BO2

It would be great to see continued updates and support for, if for nothing else, blackout. I agree with everything you said about Multiplayer and I agree that BO4's core gameplay was a lot of fun while still rewarding skill in gunfights.
Also, just going to say this to prepare for when you talk about her in part 2: Zero should have been an anti-specialist specialist and NOT an anti-streak specialist. Take away the Icepick's ability to hack streaks and instead give it back the ability to prevent opponents from using their specialist equipment/abilities while they're hacked. That would solve TWO problems, people being killed by their own streaks AND specialist spam, at the same time.

I like the idea of unique attachments and I like stacking attachments, but I hated the limits on attachments this year. In BO3 I felt like many guns had different loadouts that were all viable. You had a gun and I had the same gun but they could play differently. In BO4 it feels like there is only one real way to kit out a gun. Like there’s only two options: the right way and the wrong way.

Been waiting for this! Overall BO4 is a rly good game at its core - gunplay, longer ttk, manual healing, the guns, maps, colours, feel, was all amazing. A few gameplay things like specialists and OP streaks ruined it but without them it was great - nearly as good as BO2 imo. The real problem of BO4 comes down to the post-launch actions - lack of MP content, favouring BO, then the biggest one: complete clusterfuck of anti-consumer MTX slowly injected into the game over the months in the most slimey and disgusting way possible. Without these easily avoidable negatives it woulda been up in my top 5 without a doubt.

The increased HP also plays into this, it rewards players, as Ace said in the video, that can hold their aim longer and not just snap on to someone and kill them before they could even react, like in MW for example.

You couldn’t be more wrong when it comes to zombies. Sure, none the maps were god awful (for me at least) but four of them out of eight were recycled, they blew through almost their entire budget on the first two DLC maps, changed almost every gameplay system in the game for the worse, and Factions, a major tent poll feature announced at the reveal, has not been heard since Grand Heist. This game has destroyed the Zombies Community.
