Regardless of the size of the role...James always gives 100 percent. I saw him in Kiss me Kate and was so surprised he has great comedic talents. He seems to be the everyman...but somehow special....which he certainly was. I recall as a kid..I always noticed the thick expressive eyebrows..later as I got older I noticed his professionalism. His passing was a big loss to the industry and to his many fans. His role in the Shawshank was very impressive...RIP.

I was so privileged to see Mr. Whitmore do his Will Rogers show live in Mammoth Lakes, a ski resort in the High Sierras mountains of California, an area Whitmore loved. That performance was just enchanting. I saw him transform before my eyes. I am so grateful I got to see that. RIP, sir, you are truly missed.
