I think it was bad. Waited it for so long but it was so big downgrade from 2 and 3. Used to kill 1000 troops playing DW2 but DW4 it was almost impossible to kill over 200 troops. I think DW5 was the best. DW6 was terrible. So bad that I almost wanted to puke.
So far out of all the ones I played I think this one was the best. It had the most intense and most in-depth campaign mode for everyone. Not just the three kingdoms but an unlockable campaign for Yuan Shao, Dong Zhou, Lu Bu and others too.

@thehorus987 for the plan to work pang tong was to basically give cao cao false information from then they could do the fire attack and because pang tong had never been in any battles cao cao had took him as a warrior. also he would be with shu anyway because he is a close friend of Zhuge Liang and was his cousin. just thought i'd throw that in there

I believe in those times drummers were used as a way to boost morale and as a way of communication. Although, when your forces are under a full assault and your ships are on fire, I can’t help but think that drumming isn’t necessary at that point lmao
Catapults turn into green mystical dragons? Soldiers beating on drums in a burning ship while a huge fucking battle is going on? A fiery tiger swallowing everyone in the ship? Sorry but this is THE worst DW opening ever. The only good thing to come out of this is the music.
@LtSurge659 Dude, Zhang Liao is BEAST in DW6. They aren't going back because of fan acceptance. Xiahou Dun has his sword back so trust me when I say he's a beast, he's one of the few MAJOR improvements from DW6. Others are Zhang Fei and Gan Ning. . Don't worry he's NOTHING like Pang De.
The best koei game of all time. Ma chao, Zhao yun and lu bu were gods in that game. They really screwed up ma chao and lu bu in 4 and 5. Please all they have to do for dw7 to be good is to bring back d4 exactly the same it was but with better graphics. Sane characters, voices, and everything

i just love swords/spear fights. you can get up close and see the fear in you opponent. now all you have to do is press a button on the other side of the world
@GHOST8990 They did not all actually live at the same time, the actual historical event went on for generations and the major figures (most of them are in the game) did not live at the same time. But they were actual people in Chinese history, and some places/wars from the game did actually happen.
Pang Tong wanted to join Wu first, but Sun Quan turned him down because he didn't like Pang Tong's appearance, so Pang Tong then turned to Liu Bei after being recommended by Zhuge Liang, and thus he finally joined Shu.
the best opening are in dw5 which is really epic!! but i prefer the dw6 gameplay and improvement.. and much harder than the old dynasty warrior 2-3-4 and 5 which if you choose chaos mode even if you have the greatest weapon in the game and horses. your still have to put all of your best to win every stages in dw6 :D
this was my second fave of the series, and my only major flaw with it was that a lot of battlefields were in the same place on a different part of the map. for instance, Fan played host to the battle of Jing as well. that and the weapon exp thing didn't help. took me ages to get a level 4 weapon
shu=honor, straight up, working all the way up from the bottom wei=iron fist, already in power at the beginning wu=idk, family or some shit. fairly powerful my favorite faction is wu, cuz of the pirate man
What I remember about this game. 1. Creating an Officer. 2. Playing the first level a ba-gillion times. (making my officer a badass) 3. Beating the game like it was nothing. 4. Rinse and repeat.

When I first got this game, I knew nothing about the characters nor did I know anything about the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Much to my surprise, apparently the kingdoms of Shu, Wu, and Wei were actual kingdoms and so were the officers in this game? They should make more video games like this. Makes learning history/names/battles easy lol.

Eh, all these games are basically the same with small variations in gameplay and character design. Some have iterations of characters that are definitely worse than older ones, like I personally miss the old Gan Ning from DW4. But , despite this game being my childhood, I can't definitely say it's the best in the series. Especially looking at gameplay of it in 2019 you can just tell how dated it is. The one thing is, this opening is fuckin awesome. I get chills when that guitar riff cuts in at 0:36

The Battle of Chi Bi was real i know that much. And Wei actually did lose it to the alliance of Shu and Wu.

@TheRaikuso I think all the Dw4 costumes looked good but that is my opinion(You can unlock the dw3 costumes for Dw4 too just in case you didn`t know).
