the thing that make Zhongli shield extremely OP , its not the shield strength itself, but the fact that you can recast it before its finished, because the cooldown is very short compared to ALL other shielder.
Nah. "Very short" cooldown is stuff like Xiao's burst Zhongli's shield literally doesn't have cooldown. The duration is 20s, while the CD is 12s. If your shield breaks before it's ready to be cast again it just means that the build sucks
Idk if I've seen anyone mention it but diona can make use of the sac bow, which gives her more shield uptime and she can generate more Cryo particles for her and her teammates, making her very useful for eula, ayaka etc

If u guys wonder why diona shield looks like very fragile compared to other, look at this comment section before u judge her. Need to know that yanfei need to use burst for shielding while her energy cost is very high, and her skill is not in very low cooldown and not generates much particles. And if u give her some ER stat it will decrease much of her HP and u will reduce her shield strength. Thoma also need to use burst + skill in order to get very strong shield, otherwise his only elemental skill shield is very fragile, and his burst has very smoll amount of shield HP, but even if it broke it will keep generating shield as long as the buff duration still remain and keep triggering the pyro wave by normal attack. His energy cost kinda high too. Very complicated just to get the strong shield. And then there is diona, with only need to hold skill and you will get free not weakest yet not the strongest shield but with low cooldown (the end of duration until the skill up again), generates so much cryo particles, can heal if u have burst, doesn't need high energy cost as yanfei and thoma. In real combat like spiral abyss or domain, diona shield is better than yanfei or thoma, cuz u can spam it just by waiting the cooldown. But in some cases yanfei and thoma shield is pretty usefull if u play in a team with much pyro character especially benett + diluc. Their burst will up very fast tho. But not many people want to bring more than 2 pyro characters lmao. And ofc zhongli is still the best shielder in the game boi, also he can keep proc the 4 pieces set ToM. He got 5 stars rarity without no reason

Strongest shield after Zhongli would be Noelle but her cooldown is too long which is shit. Diona is your best option for a quick and easy shield that goes as close to Zhongli's level as possible without sacrificing too much of the good perks.

Main dps noelle can also decrease cd of her shield, which really does make it much shorter. She can also infinitely generate crystalised shards if there is other element involved. Sometimes I'm able to shield the whole party like this.

Yeah that's why pure geo shields are superior (the main utility of geo) compared to other elemental shields that are only strong on their specific element but bad on other elements (ex. hydro attacks to pyro shields etc.)
As i remember noelle have effectiveness only for geo And only zhongli who's have 150% effectiveness against all elements since he's Archon, back the time before 1.3 buff he have around 250% effectiveness but only for geo. After 1.3 buff he can have effectiveness for all elements including Physical but only for 150% effectiveness And in 1.3 they're not buffing noelle. So noelle still only have more effectiveness just for absorbing geo dmg

Zhongli shield all the way. But it's probably because the way other shields work. Thoma for example. Stacking the shield that way doesn't work as the damage absorbtion has a limit based on his max hp. His shield works well while taking damage and refreshing it with the burst effect.

@@sabrinalim5746 Yeah geo shields are stronger than elemental shields, but noelle is kind of a better dps than a shielder or healer. Her shield downtime sucks and she can become a dps loss because she has to be on the field to heal. Her particle generation sucks too, you need another geo character to battery her. That said, noelle should ideally be at c6 for her to be a great dps. But if you don't care about meta go use her all you want. She's a literal swiss army knife who can tank, heal, and crystallize
shield category def goes to zhongli but in terms of overall utility diona offers sm more (shield, heal, noblesse buff, em boost at c6, and cryo res which is pretty good)
Zhongli also has 100% shield uptime, res shred, tenacity buff, and geo res which is pretty good with his shield. I'd say he offers just as much utility as diona

I feel that having Zhongli as the only lvl 90 during this showcase didn’t help. Though we all know just how broken he is, it would’ve been nice to show everyone else’s strongest (though the hp% on the flower and feather do have the potential to be higher, I think, making the shields stronger anyway). No hate on the artifact department, though, cause that is just rng, but it would’ve been nice to see the best YOU could make with those characters. If it was a mats thing, though, since only Zhongli was ascended to get him to 90, while the rest were stuck at 80 since they weren’t ascended yet, then that would also make sense. Again, no hate, just my thought process looking at this
I have a zhongli at lvl90 with 54k hp and a c6 diona at lvl90 with 42k hp and she’s pretty op as well ngl, you just have to be strategic with how you use her E skill
@@ilvosio diona fully maxed about 12.8k shield with sac bow, 13.8k with recurve bow, maybe a bit more with good substats. Yanfei max is like 15k shield, but getting hp% sands on yanfei is expensive. Thoma has 2nd strongest shield I dunno how much it's like 20k and you can keep generating it. Diona and thoma are better than yanfei in shielding after you get c5+high talent lv, but Yanfei is pretty cheap strong shield mid game. Basically you can build whoever you like and have high cons. Edit: there is no need to get hp% sands on yanfei, it's pretty much the same thing. If you would have extra ER you can squeeze in more hp% substat.
she/he did use the same set on all of them, the difference is actually from the character and weapon lvl. she/he's got a lvl90 zhongli with a lvl90 weapon, where as diona was lvl80 with a lvl80 weapon. Both of them scale off hp, but because of the 10 lvl difference, Diona's shield was made a lot weaker
@@chronopolize_jp yanfei is a dps, I don't think anyone should build her for the shield unless they have no shielder at all, but if they don't have any shielder, there's a higher chance they don't have c4 yanfei either
Remember Diona's shield is cryo and has less strength against attacks outside cryo. These ruin guards do pyro damage so Thoma and Yanfei had an innate advantage, for Diona to take 11 hits with a disadvantage should tell you her shield is really good.

As the other person above me said it gains stacks when you do normal attacks, that's why they say he's beat for supporting Hu Tao since she abuses that and stacks his shield fast
@@itz_andi9691 Main reason for Hu tao is pyro application to help Sucrose shred resistance. Loking at the speed of attacks he is more suitable for Yoimiya. (I know about 1 second stack limit)
I feel like Thoma runs the risk of stealing vapes/melts depending on the type of Hu Tao team you run. I'd prefer a Tankfei build myself. She can still apply Pyro for a Swirl Anemo support.
that's all geo does, XD of course its always going to be better, it has basically the worst reaction in the game ,so it has to at least give better shields.
@@biandanxious3438 in theory you should match the elemental shield against the right enemies... that's why geo i usually better, because it work with all elements, BUT when you have a diona shield against ice, or beidou vs electro etc.. its when the shield shine most. Using shields randomly , only bring the shield to last just a few hits.
@@WastedTalent83 Before I got Zhongli, I used Thoma all the time as my shielder. I ran him on 4 piece severed fate. And he tanked things amazingly. And he had 100% up time.
As usual, Zhongli without a doubt at the top. But I think I'd prefer Diona due to the utility she provides. Lots of cryo particles for a cryo dps, 200 EM at C6, healing, and movement speed increase. I think her shield being a bit weak is a fair trade for these effects in my personal opinion.
...for normal attackers that is. Well charged is ok too. Otherwise your shield won't stay I'll also add that he's pyro though so can work for resonance, and c6 buffs dmg of character within but grtting thoma constellation is so damn hard

He applies pyro while shielding which can steal many of your vape reactions lowering overall dmg of your team Meanwhile others do not have this problem Diona can also have 100% shield up as long as u have sac bow at high refine She provides energy to team Shield to team Heals as well if something goes wrong And good for cryo resonance She is the only 4* char which can use shield whenever we want instead of relying on ER
@@rohanvirus Thats all locked behind r5 sacrificial bow though, which isn't apart of diona herself you can only count constellations when comparing characters not weapons unless they use the same type (like if there was a sacrificial polearm or they both use bows). When comparing sheilds thoma has a much stronger sheild than diona and thoma has 100% up time with his whereas diona does not, Pyro res is definitely the best res in the game so he's great with that and not to mention how great his c6 is. Overall i think they're both great and it just depends on the team your using, they both have their uses but thoma isn't nearly as annoying as diona so there's that too lmao

actually, diona's shield is a lot stronger and useful, since you only need her e to do that. she also heals with her burst, decreases enemies atk and give u cryo particles. if you need a shielder that's not zhongli, i strongli recommend diona.

yanfei is still pretty impressive despite not built for shielder. u can take out the shielder slot in her dps party bc she can provide a sturdy shield herself without needing much hp infesting build (w/ enough energy she can pretty much spam burst as well) it goes well w her kit too, bc u need her to stay on field after using the burst (for charged atk bonus). yanfei is 💯
Yeah i was surprised she doesn't need much invest with er sands, just lv 16 artifacts and lv 80/80 and you can get around 11k shield. But it's a pain to battery her sometimes
I always use shield Yanfei in conjunction with Hu Tao on Abyss. R5 Prototype Amber helps with her energy (though it sometimes overheals my Hu Tao above 50%), her shield is bulky enough to last the entire duration even with ER sands, and she doesn't need talents at all beyond her C4. She also has some flexibility in the build. She can go 4 Noblesse for buffs, or 2 Tenacity+2 Emblem for HP and ER. Same logic with Prototype Amber (team-wide healing+energy battery) vs Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers (extra attack buff). And she can still be the DPS, just change her equipment and you're good to go. Unlike Thoma or Diona who really don't have that option at all.

@@Meteor-ThunderBears A character's defense has nothing do with shield strength. Shield strength scales off of your HP pool not defense. Shields act like a separate health bar which happens to be invisible. If you get hit while shielded, your shield hp gets damaged first. Once your shield is broken and you receive a direct hit without it, that's the time your defense comes into play. In short your defense only reduces the amount of damage you get from direct attacks(no shield), it doesn't reduce the damage your shield gets from enemy attacks.
Yes but tbh Yanfei's c4 is just a added bonus. It's nice to have when you cast your ult and dont get knockbacked in the duration when you need it and use her as dps. Slap on a healer and another pyro battery and you're good to go. 1 free slot.
Diona’s shield is easier to use because of her low cooldown … she also provides a lot of utility beside her shield,such as her healing ability and Em boost when c6 is activated.
i mean zhongli also has low cooldown, provides crowd control in ult, can get those cristalize shield thingies and all and can even heal at c6, but of course he is harder to get and getting him c6 is almost impossible for f2p too lmao

Corrosion is a joke though. None of my characters ever died from corrosion but they have died from strong attacks from elite enemies which only happened coz I forgot to reapply Zhongli's shield.

Also you know when you'll see it's bad side, it will be in the hard boss style event we get every now and then. The one where we can adjust the difficulty to get 8000 points, corrosion in those situations, will require healers and shielders will definitely not be enough. Right now I think, Hoyoverse made corrosion not to erase shielders' usefulness out of the game but to just let shielders not be too comfortable. Just like how they are pushing towards players needing to build ER not for the sake of ER, but in a way to balance a character from doing too much consistent damage. (Build for ER get many burst rotation but less burst damage or don't build for ER and get little burst rotation but high damage, balances out).. And now the new mechanic of some enemies sapping energy from characters make ER even more important. Another thing is that not too long in the future, we'll see enemies that targets characters that does damage with their elemental skill, like Yoimiya, Hu Tao, Ayato etc. by them making the skill cooldown time increase mechanic more prevalent in newer enemies, region de-buffs etc.. Every playstyle in genshin will get hit, even the famous vape and melt, it's just a matter of time.
Zhongli top 1 for the shields. If u are a beginner or dealing low to mid damage in higher WL, zhongli-sucrose-fischl-anyhydro will carry u basically everywhere in the game. The -20% elemental res + stacking hp with black tassel on zhongli's shield will carry you everytime
That... doesn't make any sense. 2pc maidens raises her healing bonus by 15% but that wouldn't have any effect on her shield strength. Her shield strength is only based on her HP. For the sake of this test, it's fine. You're right though that Tenacity isn't the greatest set on her but it's because of how her elemental skill works. She'll only be getting the 4pc bonus once an E usage. Zhongli's and Kokomi's E skills are great for it since they continue to proc over time, keeping the bonus up longer than 3s. Not trying to be mean just saying.

@@midamishi I actually meant the Beidou counter but I tried myself now, Zhongli wins this because of his 150% effectiveness against everything. I thought it was only against elements. My Beidou had 100% and could block all missles of the first ruin guard, but only the first 2 of the third. (Talent level 12, 42k HP and unforged weapon shield bonus). Beidou has 250% effectiveness against Electeo however and is therefore really good against the Shogun.
@@fa14bi-78 I made a pure hp and shield strength beidou for fun since I crowned my beidou lvl 13 and yeah I have about 48000 hp and my beidou absorbs all of the missiles plus her added q shield from constellation can actually stack with her counter shield strength beidou is severely underrated with the shield strength and I can tank every electro attack in the game but sadly loses because her shield isn’t geo
Diona's shield being fragile is just 1% of her power C6 can give these buff High EM boost, Lowers Enemy's attack, + Movement speed, she can give so much Cryo particle for a cryo dps, she can also heal really well.
It's not even that fragile, mine only breaks when I'm mindlessly attacking and take a lot of hits. Only zhongli shield can you just sit there and take punishment without doing anything and still be fine
The diona shield was level 11, while the thoma shield was level 8 btw. In terms of utility, for both characters at c6, diona provides moderate heal (her healing is less than a Bennett's and other healers), a moderate shield (less shield strength than all other shield characters), moderate em (sucrose and kazuha provide much better boosts). In a nutshell, diona is the worst in each category, but the fact that she can do all of them is what makes her good. She is the jack of all trades and master of none. Thoma on the other hand had his shield at level 8 in the video. At c6 constellations, his shield will be much stronger. Plus his c6 gives a damage boost to plunge and charged attacks, which is the only constellation in the game which gives a boost to CA and plunged attacks which makes his c6 really good. Compared to diona, he can do comparatively fewer things but he excels in those which is why he is good. Conclusion - both of them are very good i feel. Although as a diona user, i am personally biased towards her and like her more :")
idk, i saw a comparison of all shielders and diona was on 2nd place, just below zhongli. also her healing heals pretty good ngl, of course not as much as bennett, but since the only stat you really need on her is hp% (and a bit of er), its really easy to farm for her artifacts. she also provides a lot of cryo particles so amazing with a cryo dps. so i wouldn't say she's bad at every category but she's good because she can do everything. she's pretty good at most of these categories

I've never seen a comment that was more incorrect. Diona's heals are not "moderate" she is only beaten by Bennett who has 1s tick speed when you compare stagnant healing fields. Nor is her shield.. Less shield strength? Aside from the shield archon, he has the most %absorption so far overall (250% cryo, 75%dmg hold, 15% C2), her EM boost is 200 which beats Albedo and is equal to Kazuha's C2. And "Moderate shield" oh boy. There have been multiple tests done that show her in second place, only behind Zhongli. Considering Zhongli is the shield god, anyone who is second only to him cannot be "moderate". The only think that saves Thoma is his stacking, which is extremely hard to time if you don't have C4+. There's a reason Tao users prefer tankfei over him, and it's because they don't have to babysit her shield (Thoma has 8s shield duration, I mean really? A vine video??) and she doesn't steal vapes.
@@jadecoolness101 Thanks for last line, it proves that you neither tested nor read Thoma's skills. His shield duration resets every time burst gets stack. Tap E + burst, then use normal attacks --> actual duration at c0 is 23 seconds.
@@kisyperi3680 I know Thoma's kit because I've read it. His shield lasts 8s. It doesn't matter if the burst resets that, 8s is 8s. Since he has such a high burst cost, and a Skill that takes like 15s CD. He does not have access to sacrificial so his energy generation is lacking, meaning that bursting off cooldown is harder. Once the burst ends, you have an absolute maximum of 8s to get it back up, or you have to babysit it by timing his skill properly. The ideal support is one that comes out, does it's business, and then LEAVES. You can't do that with Thoma, not until C4 and up, and even then, the 8s maximum is always a hurdle to jump over. You can say "oh u just don't know his kit lol" but like I said. There's a REASON Tao users prefer tankfei over Thoma. Tankfei's shield lasts longer, and doesn't steal vapes to refresh it's measly 8s time.
Thoma's shield is some seriously good shit in a team with a unit using normal attacks. Mine is unbuilt currently but I do think about pairing him up with Razor from time to time.
I'm pretty sure it's not Thoma full power right? (Or probably I forgot about the description) but I'm pretty sure he can stacks so many shield, while his burst duration can't make it at all, maybe he needs to activates his burst twice. But that's too complicated, so I'm okay with it (:
@@ranputeras596 nah its enough time. base on the video and description of thoma burst each time that wave of fire out its refresh your shield. iirc max stack of thoma shield is 5 or 6. and you can count how many that fire comes out from normal attack. also if you have C2 Thoma basically that make your burst is 18-23 sec (depens on when your shield refresh extend) but have 17 sec CD. thats near 100% uptime, and kinda long.

And the max shield is about 33% Hp (the limit of stacks that you could have in one time), also mine is talent lvl9 But yeah, after I read his description, I figured out that his "skill" is probably counted as a stack too. So yep, it's fully stacked there
U only compare their shield but ignore their best artifact set for spiral abyss. Not to mention, some of them need energy recharge to active their shield. Later.. make it ballance for spiral abyss, so we can choose wich one worth to build.

No he did not. Its a proper test and the shield doesnt run out. Please learn how Thoma's shield works before correcting someone. His burst is not a direct shield like his skill. Its only gives an ability to active character to be able to stack his shield through normal attack. And you need to remember that EVERYTIME his shield is stacked through skill/burst, his shield duration is refreshed... Doesnt matter if the burst is already run out in the video as long as you stack it again with his E, it will last for another 8 seconds..

It’s the strongest 4* shield but has the most down time which makes it not as valuable as Dionas or especially Thomas. I’m not saying it’s garbage or not viable, but it simply just doesn’t compares well to its competitors sadly. I only bring up these points because newer players may mistaken Noelle to be the strongest option.

Basically Zhongli > Yanfei > Diona (Hold) > Thoma (not stacked), tho it very dependent situation where if some is applied Zhongli > Thoma (full stacked) > Yanfei > Diona (Hold), but do noted that diona shield is very cheap to cast (second after zhongli obv) and her burst reduced the ATK of monster in it thus improve her shield so : Zhongli > Thoma (full stacked) = Diona (Hold + Burst Debuff enemy ATK) > Yanfei
@@plum6999 No lol, in fact it's the opposite, Diona has the lowest scaling shield in the game and Xinyan has a pretty good scaling, comparable to Noelle's shield.
Diona shield is stronger with sacrificial bow, essentially giving her double shield hp when you cast it right before initial shield breaks. Recurve bow is just worse overall
From my personal experience, C4 Tankfei is better than thoma, but worse than diona/zhongli. Even if i am auto attacking with thoma, it feels more like a super armour than a shield, a shield that leaks damage. I don't like thoma. For thoma enjoyer, sorry, this is just me screaming i don't like Thoma's kit. But i genuinely don't like it.
tankfei, thoma and zhongli can't be categorized with diona. Diona's main function is not a shielder, but a cryo battery for ganyu or ayaka. Her shield just lets you not get one shotted by abyss 12 enemies, it hardly takes much damage. tankfei c4 is better than thoma c0-c5, but thoma c6's 15% damage bonus makes him wins out (he also has a more consistent and tankier shield, in this video his shield was only level 8 when it can be up to level 13 but it already was tankier than yanfei's shield)
As a thoma simp who spent everything for thoma: yeah I agree his shield really isn't that great and SOMEHOW still allow you to take dmg even if it seems like the shield is on (what? yea I don't understand either...) And at c0 there may be sligh cd/uptime issue?

It's on the build my Thoma can survive those blast it's just he use the burst very early before they start to stand up..for My opinion Thoma is a 4 star version of Zhongli but still no one can beat Zhongli Shield
Honestly for zhongli case going 50k cp is unneeded around 30k is fine as it's cooldown is super low and instead of only stacking hp you can put geo damage and crit piece on him as his ult damage is super high

Thoma es un bebé en utilidad al lado de diona.

nah dude Diona is much more comfortable to use & doesn't steal reactions from your main DPS, Thoma is as good as Xinyan, without the stacks his shield wouldn't even last for 10 hits. C4 Yanfei while good still needs burst for shield. Diona provides a good shield with healing, energy particle generator and plus Cryo resonance. She just has a lot of utility under her kit that other 4 star shielders don't have except Noelle.
zhongli is the flagship 5star shielder in the game. Even if yanfei had 20k more hp i highly doubt, she can still compete with a 50k hp zhongli who has passive talents which helps with his shield tremendously
Either he forgot or his noelle is below lv so it will be unfair. Pretty much the result is noelle shield is the same as zhongli shield, the only difference is their cooldown.

DEF and HP are our most common artifact ruiner so its pretty much the same, you could put her into 3K def and 50k hp zhongli and the result feels like same (this may be inaccurate too since im not a fucking calculator and this is based from my experience when doing the abyss)
Mind u shield strength also increases base on its element so Thoma had an advantage over Diona however is we use diona aganist a cryo enemy she can absorb more dmg I don’t think this test was fair cus the shields weren’t tested at their prime,use cryo against cyro and pyro Againts pyro to give more accurate information
Nah, the test is fine as it is, it's not necessary to do that, after all, how many enemies are there that do cryo attacks, just slimes maybe and that's all.

Imo, the biggest deciding factor between Thoma and Yanfei is that eventhough Yanfei's is a little weaker, it requires much less investment since it is a constelation and not a talent. On the other hand, Thoma's will also deal extra damage with his burst shield but if you equip Yanfei with the 3* book that buffs your DPS, she'll still make up for that extra dmg.
Diona level 80 curve bow and Yanfei TTDS level 80 as well vs the others with lvl 90 black tassel, not a toe-to-toe comparison, but not really a problem.
Iirc shields in genshin don't stack (unless Thoma is a special case) aka when you take damage, every shield absorbs that damage, not just one. So in actuality having multiple shields is just equivalent to having one shields whose hp is equal to the highest HP, and NOT equal to the sum of all hp Idk I don't use thoma

the thing that make Zhongli shield extremely OP , its not the shield strength itself, but the fact that you can recast it before its finished, because the cooldown is very short compared to ALL other shielder.

Zhongli's shield literally doesn't have cooldown. The duration is 20s, while the CD is 12s. If your shield breaks before it's ready to be cast again it just means that the build sucks

Idk if I've seen anyone mention it but diona can make use of the sac bow, which gives her more shield uptime and she can generate more Cryo particles for her and her teammates, making her very useful for eula, ayaka etc

If u guys wonder why diona shield looks like very fragile compared to other, look at this comment section before u judge her.
Need to know that yanfei need to use burst for shielding while her energy cost is very high, and her skill is not in very low cooldown and not generates much particles. And if u give her some ER stat it will decrease much of her HP and u will reduce her shield strength.
Thoma also need to use burst + skill in order to get very strong shield, otherwise his only elemental skill shield is very fragile, and his burst has very smoll amount of shield HP, but even if it broke it will keep generating shield as long as the buff duration still remain and keep triggering the pyro wave by normal attack. His energy cost kinda high too. Very complicated just to get the strong shield.
And then there is diona, with only need to hold skill and you will get free not weakest yet not the strongest shield but with low cooldown (the end of duration until the skill up again), generates so much cryo particles, can heal if u have burst, doesn't need high energy cost as yanfei and thoma. In real combat like spiral abyss or domain, diona shield is better than yanfei or thoma, cuz u can spam it just by waiting the cooldown.
But in some cases yanfei and thoma shield is pretty usefull if u play in a team with much pyro character especially benett + diluc. Their burst will up very fast tho. But not many people want to bring more than 2 pyro characters lmao.
And ofc zhongli is still the best shielder in the game boi, also he can keep proc the 4 pieces set ToM. He got 5 stars rarity without no reason

Tankfei proto amber in hutao team, so that you can use kazuha/succrose VV to swirl pyro for more dmg

Strongest shield after Zhongli would be Noelle but her cooldown is too long which is shit.
Diona is your best option for a quick and easy shield that goes as close to Zhongli's level as possible without sacrificing too much of the good perks.
Noelles cooldown can be fixed with sacrificial greatsword so its not that bad
And it can automatically give u shield when reaching a certain heath percentage which is nice
Aaand that shield hits kinda hard when melee and with a constellation it damage as well when broken, which I find very useful

Main dps noelle can also decrease cd of her shield, which really does make it much shorter. She can also infinitely generate crystalised shards if there is other element involved. Sometimes I'm able to shield the whole party like this.
Shields can have damage absorption effectiveness
Zhongli and Noelle have 150% effectiveness against all elemental and physical DMG
Kaeya's C4 and Diona have 250% Cryo DMG effectiveness
Xinyan, Thoma and Yanfei's C4 have 250% Pyro DMG effectiveness
Beidou's C1 has 250% Electro DMG effectiveness
Yeah that's why pure geo shields are superior (the main utility of geo) compared to other elemental shields that are only strong on their specific element but bad on other elements (ex. hydro attacks to pyro shields etc.)
As i remember noelle have effectiveness only for geo
And only zhongli who's have 150% effectiveness against all elements since he's Archon, back the time before 1.3 buff he have around 250% effectiveness but only for geo. After 1.3 buff he can have effectiveness for all elements including Physical but only for 150% effectiveness
And in 1.3 they're not buffing noelle. So noelle still only have more effectiveness just for absorbing geo dmg

Zhongli shield all the way. But it's probably because the way other shields work. Thoma for example. Stacking the shield that way doesn't work as the damage absorbtion has a limit based on his max hp. His shield works well while taking damage and refreshing it with the burst effect.

@@sabrinalim5746 Yeah geo shields are stronger than elemental shields, but noelle is kind of a better dps than a shielder or healer. Her shield downtime sucks and she can become a dps loss because she has to be on the field to heal. Her particle generation sucks too, you need another geo character to battery her.
That said, noelle should ideally be at c6 for her to be a great dps. But if you don't care about meta go use her all you want. She's a literal swiss army knife who can tank, heal, and crystallize

shield category def goes to zhongli but in terms of overall utility diona offers sm more (shield, heal, noblesse buff, em boost at c6, and cryo res which is pretty good)
Zhongli also has 100% shield uptime, res shred, tenacity buff, and geo res which is pretty good with his shield. I'd say he offers just as much utility as diona

I feel that having Zhongli as the only lvl 90 during this showcase didn’t help. Though we all know just how broken he is, it would’ve been nice to show everyone else’s strongest (though the hp% on the flower and feather do have the potential to be higher, I think, making the shields stronger anyway). No hate on the artifact department, though, cause that is just rng, but it would’ve been nice to see the best YOU could make with those characters. If it was a mats thing, though, since only Zhongli was ascended to get him to 90, while the rest were stuck at 80 since they weren’t ascended yet, then that would also make sense. Again, no hate, just my thought process looking at this
I have a zhongli at lvl90 with 54k hp and a c6 diona at lvl90 with 42k hp and she’s pretty op as well ngl, you just have to be strategic with how you use her E skill

@@ilvosio diona fully maxed about 12.8k shield with sac bow, 13.8k with recurve bow, maybe a bit more with good substats. Yanfei max is like 15k shield, but getting hp% sands on yanfei is expensive. Thoma has 2nd strongest shield I dunno how much it's like 20k and you can keep generating it.
Diona and thoma are better than yanfei in shielding after you get c5+high talent lv, but Yanfei is pretty cheap strong shield mid game. Basically you can build whoever you like and have high cons.
Edit: there is no need to get hp% sands on yanfei, it's pretty much the same thing. If you would have extra ER you can squeeze in more hp% substat.
she/he did use the same set on all of them, the difference is actually from the character and weapon lvl. she/he's got a lvl90 zhongli with a lvl90 weapon, where as diona was lvl80 with a lvl80 weapon. Both of them scale off hp, but because of the 10 lvl difference, Diona's shield was made a lot weaker

maybe u could have tried proccing the 4pc tenacity with the other shielders too tho, like u did with diona! since it gives 30% shield strength

Remember Diona's shield is cryo and has less strength against attacks outside cryo. These ruin guards do pyro damage so Thoma and Yanfei had an innate advantage, for Diona to take 11 hits with a disadvantage should tell you her shield is really good.

Dionas not bad though, shield strength isn't the defining factor of a character since Diona can reliable recast her shield, heal, act as a superconduct reactor, em buffer, a cryo battery, just altogether an amazing support

Even until now, I still can't understand Thoma's shield stack kit.. but my Thoma can do his job..
Use normal attacks to create stacks on his shield, everytime his flames activate, he gets a new stack and it refreshes the duration.
As the other person above me said it gains stacks when you do normal attacks, that's why they say he's beat for supporting Hu Tao since she abuses that and stacks his shield fast
@@itz_andi9691 Main reason for Hu tao is pyro application to help Sucrose shred resistance. Loking at the speed of attacks he is more suitable for Yoimiya. (I know about 1 second stack limit)
I feel like Thoma runs the risk of stealing vapes/melts depending on the type of Hu Tao team you run. I'd prefer a Tankfei build myself. She can still apply Pyro for a Swirl Anemo support.
If your Xingqiu and Thoma aren't both C6, then yeah, Tankfei is usually recommended more. Once they both hit C6 though, that's when Thoma wins out.

that's all geo does, XD of course its always going to be better, it has basically the worst reaction in the game ,so it has to at least give better shields.
But Noelle has so much downtime that it’s better to use Diona or Thoma.
Maybe even Yanfei instead in a pyro focused team.

Before I got Zhongli, I used Thoma all the time as my shielder.
I ran him on 4 piece severed fate. And he tanked things amazingly.
And he had 100% up time.

As usual, Zhongli without a doubt at the top. But I think I'd prefer Diona due to the utility she provides. Lots of cryo particles for a cryo dps, 200 EM at C6, healing, and movement speed increase. I think her shield being a bit weak is a fair trade for these effects in my personal opinion.
The main advantage of Thoma is that he has 100% shield up time and all his cons are really good for boosting his shielding.

I'll also add that he's pyro though so can work for resonance, and c6 buffs dmg of character within but grtting thoma constellation is so damn hard
@@kittenmimi5326 I mean most comps normal attack, even Xiao normals between plunges. I somtimes use him in my Childe Xiangling Vape team in place of bennet if I want bennet in the other team.
He applies pyro while shielding which can steal many of your vape reactions lowering overall dmg of your team
Meanwhile others do not have this problem
Diona can also have 100% shield up as long as u have sac bow at high refine
She provides energy to team
Shield to team
Heals as well if something goes wrong
And good for cryo resonance
She is the only 4* char which can use shield whenever we want instead of relying on ER
@@rohanvirus Thats all locked behind r5 sacrificial bow though, which isn't apart of diona herself you can only count constellations when comparing characters not weapons unless they use the same type (like if there was a sacrificial polearm or they both use bows). When comparing sheilds thoma has a much stronger sheild than diona and thoma has 100% up time with his whereas diona does not, Pyro res is definitely the best res in the game so he's great with that and not to mention how great his c6 is. Overall i think they're both great and it just depends on the team your using, they both have their uses but thoma isn't nearly as annoying as diona so there's that too lmao

actually, diona's shield is a lot stronger and useful, since you only need her e to do that. she also heals with her burst, decreases enemies atk and give u cryo particles. if you need a shielder that's not zhongli, i strongli recommend diona.
But for zhongli all you need to do is his E also, same with every other shielder except yanfei

yanfei is still pretty impressive despite not built for shielder. u can take out the shielder slot in her dps party bc she can provide a sturdy shield herself without needing much hp infesting build (w/ enough energy she can pretty much spam burst as well) it goes well w her kit too, bc u need her to stay on field after using the burst (for charged atk bonus). yanfei is 💯
Yeah i was surprised she doesn't need much invest with er sands, just lv 16 artifacts and lv 80/80 and you can get around 11k shield. But it's a pain to battery her sometimes
I always use shield Yanfei in conjunction with Hu Tao on Abyss. R5 Prototype Amber helps with her energy (though it sometimes overheals my Hu Tao above 50%), her shield is bulky enough to last the entire duration even with ER sands, and she doesn't need talents at all beyond her C4. She also has some flexibility in the build. She can go 4 Noblesse for buffs, or 2 Tenacity+2 Emblem for HP and ER. Same logic with Prototype Amber (team-wide healing+energy battery) vs Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers (extra attack buff).
And she can still be the DPS, just change her equipment and you're good to go. Unlike Thoma or Diona who really don't have that option at all.
The strongest shield? Take Zhonglis max HP shield and put it on a regular Noelle with 3000 defense and enjoy being absolutely unkillable.

@@hafiyyan9232 yes but i did this for mono geo comp. Im using Noelle shield and then Zhongli. The result is Noelle Shield break first and then zhongli shield left (its zhongli. Unbreakable 😂) so i think theres some order for shield taking dmg.

A character's defense has nothing do with shield strength. Shield strength scales off of your HP pool not defense. Shields act like a separate health bar which happens to be invisible. If you get hit while shielded, your shield hp gets damaged first. Once your shield is broken and you receive a direct hit without it, that's the time your defense comes into play. In short your defense only reduces the amount of damage you get from direct attacks(no shield), it doesn't reduce the damage your shield gets from enemy attacks.
I love Zhongli's shield so much. It has saved my ass many many times. Zhongli and Ei's skills are my favourites so far of the characters I have

Yes but tbh Yanfei's c4 is just a added bonus. It's nice to have when you cast your ult and dont get knockbacked in the duration when you need it and use her as dps. Slap on a healer and another pyro battery and you're good to go. 1 free slot.
Diona’s shield is easier to use because of her low cooldown … she also provides a lot of utility beside her shield,such as her healing ability and Em boost when c6 is activated.
It also goes quickly and you die too
i mean zhongli also has low cooldown, provides crowd control in ult, can get those cristalize shield thingies and all and can even heal at c6, but of course he is harder to get and getting him c6 is almost impossible for f2p too lmao

Corrosion is a joke though. None of my characters ever died from corrosion but they have died from strong attacks from elite enemies which only happened coz I forgot to reapply Zhongli's shield.

Also you know when you'll see it's bad side, it will be in the hard boss style event we get every now and then. The one where we can adjust the difficulty to get 8000 points, corrosion in those situations, will require healers and shielders will definitely not be enough.
Right now I think, Hoyoverse made corrosion not to erase shielders' usefulness out of the game but to just let shielders not be too comfortable.
Just like how they are pushing towards players needing to build ER not for the sake of ER, but in a way to balance a character from doing too much consistent damage. (Build for ER get many burst rotation but less burst damage or don't build for ER and get little burst rotation but high damage, balances out).. And now the new mechanic of some enemies sapping energy from characters make ER even more important.
Another thing is that not too long in the future, we'll see enemies that targets characters that does damage with their elemental skill, like Yoimiya, Hu Tao, Ayato etc. by them making the skill cooldown time increase mechanic more prevalent in newer enemies, region de-buffs etc..
Every playstyle in genshin will get hit, even the famous vape and melt, it's just a matter of time.

Zhongli top 1 for the shields. If u are a beginner or dealing low to mid damage in higher WL, zhongli-sucrose-fischl-anyhydro will carry u basically everywhere in the game. The -20% elemental res + stacking hp with black tassel on zhongli's shield will carry you everytime

That... doesn't make any sense. 2pc maidens raises her healing bonus by 15% but that wouldn't have any effect on her shield strength. Her shield strength is only based on her HP. For the sake of this test, it's fine.
You're right though that Tenacity isn't the greatest set on her but it's because of how her elemental skill works. She'll only be getting the 4pc bonus once an E usage.
Zhongli's and Kokomi's E skills are great for it since they continue to proc over time, keeping the bonus up longer than 3s.
Not trying to be mean just saying.
That would affect her heal, not shield...

@@midamishi I actually meant the Beidou counter but I tried myself now, Zhongli wins this because of his 150% effectiveness against everything. I thought it was only against elements.
My Beidou had 100% and could block all missles of the first ruin guard, but only the first 2 of the third. (Talent level 12, 42k HP and unforged weapon shield bonus).
Beidou has 250% effectiveness against Electeo however and is therefore really good against the Shogun.

Tenacity set requires the char to hit enemies with elemental skill. So you haven't push your shield to their limits yet

High EM boost, Lowers Enemy's attack, + Movement speed, she can give so much Cryo particle for a cryo dps, she can also heal really well.
It's not even that fragile, mine only breaks when I'm mindlessly attacking and take a lot of hits. Only zhongli shield can you just sit there and take punishment without doing anything and still be fine

What I do for diona, is use sac now and use hold, and once the shield is almost done, if I gain the end CD, I recast it. That’s at r1
The diona shield was level 11, while the thoma shield was level 8 btw.
In terms of utility, for both characters at c6, diona provides moderate heal (her healing is less than a Bennett's and other healers), a moderate shield (less shield strength than all other shield characters), moderate em (sucrose and kazuha provide much better boosts). In a nutshell, diona is the worst in each category, but the fact that she can do all of them is what makes her good. She is the jack of all trades and master of none.
Thoma on the other hand had his shield at level 8 in the video. At c6 constellations, his shield will be much stronger. Plus his c6 gives a damage boost to plunge and charged attacks, which is the only constellation in the game which gives a boost to CA and plunged attacks which makes his c6 really good. Compared to diona, he can do comparatively fewer things but he excels in those which is why he is good.
Conclusion - both of them are very good i feel. Although as a diona user, i am personally biased towards her and like her more :")
idk, i saw a comparison of all shielders and diona was on 2nd place, just below zhongli. also her healing heals pretty good ngl, of course not as much as bennett, but since the only stat you really need on her is hp% (and a bit of er), its really easy to farm for her artifacts. she also provides a lot of cryo particles so amazing with a cryo dps. so i wouldn't say she's bad at every category but she's good because she can do everything. she's pretty good at most of these categories

I've never seen a comment that was more incorrect.
Diona's heals are not "moderate" she is only beaten by Bennett who has 1s tick speed when you compare stagnant healing fields.
Nor is her shield.. Less shield strength? Aside from the shield archon, he has the most %absorption so far overall (250% cryo, 75%dmg hold, 15% C2), her EM boost is 200 which beats Albedo and is equal to Kazuha's C2.
And "Moderate shield" oh boy.
There have been multiple tests done that show her in second place, only behind Zhongli. Considering Zhongli is the shield god, anyone who is second only to him cannot be "moderate".
The only think that saves Thoma is his stacking, which is extremely hard to time if you don't have C4+. There's a reason Tao users prefer tankfei over him, and it's because they don't have to babysit her shield (Thoma has 8s shield duration, I mean really? A vine video??) and she doesn't steal vapes.
@@jadecoolness101 Thanks for last line, it proves that you neither tested nor read Thoma's skills. His shield duration resets every time burst gets stack. Tap E + burst, then use normal attacks --> actual duration at c0 is 23 seconds.
@@kisyperi3680 I know Thoma's kit because I've read it. His shield lasts 8s. It doesn't matter if the burst resets that, 8s is 8s. Since he has such a high burst cost, and a Skill that takes like 15s CD. He does not have access to sacrificial so his energy generation is lacking, meaning that bursting off cooldown is harder.
Once the burst ends, you have an absolute maximum of 8s to get it back up, or you have to babysit it by timing his skill properly.
The ideal support is one that comes out, does it's business, and then LEAVES. You can't do that with Thoma, not until C4 and up, and even then, the 8s maximum is always a hurdle to jump over.
You can say "oh u just don't know his kit lol" but like I said. There's a REASON Tao users prefer tankfei over Thoma. Tankfei's shield lasts longer, and doesn't steal vapes to refresh it's measly 8s time.
Zhongli's shield being unbreakable is good and all.
But the fact that the shield duration is longer than the cool down is already an overkill.

Thoma's shield is some seriously good shit in a team with a unit using normal attacks. Mine is unbuilt currently but I do think about pairing him up with Razor from time to time.

I have a Xinyan shield bot. Shield uptime is good too since when she casts her burst, a shield is also activated due to constellations
I'm pretty sure it's not Thoma full power right? (Or probably I forgot about the description) but I'm pretty sure he can stacks so many shield, while his burst duration can't make it at all, maybe he needs to activates his burst twice. But that's too complicated, so I'm okay with it (:

@@ranputeras596 nah its enough time. base on the video and description of thoma burst each time that wave of fire out its refresh your shield. iirc max stack of thoma shield is 5 or 6. and you can count how many that fire comes out from normal attack.
also if you have C2 Thoma basically that make your burst is 18-23 sec (depens on when your shield refresh extend) but have 17 sec CD. thats near 100% uptime, and kinda long.

You did Thomas shield wrong. His burst is also a shield, but it ran out in the test, so you didn't really test out his shield.
No he did not. Its a proper test and the shield doesnt run out. Please learn how Thoma's shield works before correcting someone. His burst is not a direct shield like his skill. Its only gives an ability to active character to be able to stack his shield through normal attack. And you need to remember that EVERYTIME his shield is stacked through skill/burst, his shield duration is refreshed... Doesnt matter if the burst is already run out in the video as long as you stack it again with his E, it will last for another 8 seconds..

There’s no problem with speaking about the strength of the shield, however, this comment implies that Noelles shield is very strong.
Which it is and isn’t. It’s the strongest 4* shield but has the most down time which makes it not as valuable as Dionas or especially Thomas.
I’m not saying it’s garbage or not viable, but it simply just doesn’t compares well to its competitors sadly. I only bring up these points because newer players may mistaken Noelle to be the strongest option.

Zhongli has the highest base HP in the game so any buff % he gains on his HP is way bigger.
He does have high base hp, so like..... with the same artifact he is gonna end up with much higher hp

Diona shield is stronger with sacrificial bow, essentially giving her double shield hp when you cast it right before initial shield breaks. Recurve bow is just worse overall
From my personal experience, C4 Tankfei is better than thoma, but worse than diona/zhongli.
Even if i am auto attacking with thoma, it feels more like a super armour than a shield, a shield that leaks damage. I don't like thoma.
For thoma enjoyer, sorry, this is just me screaming i don't like Thoma's kit. But i genuinely don't like it.
tankfei, thoma and zhongli can't be categorized with diona. Diona's main function is not a shielder, but a cryo battery for ganyu or ayaka. Her shield just lets you not get one shotted by abyss 12 enemies, it hardly takes much damage.
tankfei c4 is better than thoma c0-c5, but thoma c6's 15% damage bonus makes him wins out (he also has a more consistent and tankier shield, in this video his shield was only level 8 when it can be up to level 13 but it already was tankier than yanfei's shield)
As a thoma simp who spent everything for thoma: yeah I agree his shield really isn't that great and SOMEHOW still allow you to take dmg even if it seems like the shield is on (what? yea I don't understand either...)
And at c0 there may be sligh cd/uptime issue?

Honestly for zhongli case going 50k cp is unneeded around 30k is fine as it's cooldown is super low and instead of only stacking hp you can put geo damage and crit piece on him as his ult damage is super high

No, es el de diona, es la más completa de todos, quizá su escudo aguante menos, pero diona te pone escudo, y te puede curar, y tiene acceso al arco del sacrificio, así que puede refrescar su escudo si se lo rompen o tener permaulti para mucho heal, y te puede aportar maestría o curarte volando en C6
Hasta yan fei es más útil, y eso que es algo meh, pues es una ulti para poner ese escudo, al menos yan fei con cuentos de cazadores puede buffearle el ataque a tú personaje principal, Thoma no puede eso, y si es un personaje a reacciones, Thoma se las roba, y necesita que su escudo se stackee para ser mejor que el de diona, y para que stackee, es una ulti, diona es simplemente tirar una elemental y ya.
Thoma es un bebé en utilidad al lado de diona.

nah dude Diona is much more comfortable to use & doesn't steal reactions from your main DPS, Thoma is as good as Xinyan, without the stacks his shield wouldn't even last for 10 hits. C4 Yanfei while good still needs burst for shield. Diona provides a good shield with healing, energy particle generator and plus Cryo resonance. She just has a lot of utility under her kit that other 4 star shielders don't have except Noelle.
I have both zhongli and diona but I prefer her more because of her utility. Its all depends on what team comps you play.

zhongli is the flagship 5star shielder in the game. Even if yanfei had 20k more hp i highly doubt, she can still compete with a 50k hp zhongli who has passive talents which helps with his shield tremendously

DEF and HP are our most common artifact ruiner so its pretty much the same, you could put her into 3K def and 50k hp zhongli and the result feels like same (this may be inaccurate too since im not a fucking calculator and this is based from my experience when doing the abyss)

Nah, the test is fine as it is, it's not necessary to do that, after all, how many enemies are there that do cryo attacks, just slimes maybe and that's all.

Imo, the biggest deciding factor between Thoma and Yanfei is that eventhough Yanfei's is a little weaker, it requires much less investment since it is a constelation and not a talent.
On the other hand, Thoma's will also deal extra damage with his burst shield but if you equip Yanfei with the 3* book that buffs your DPS, she'll still make up for that extra dmg.

Diona level 80 curve bow and Yanfei TTDS level 80 as well vs the others with lvl 90 black tassel, not a toe-to-toe comparison, but not really a problem.

I've had yanfei for ages and honestly i never knew she had a shield.
Iirc shields in genshin don't stack (unless Thoma is a special case) aka when you take damage, every shield absorbs that damage, not just one.
So in actuality having multiple shields is just equivalent to having one shields whose hp is equal to the highest HP, and NOT equal to the sum of all hp
