Would love if that were the case, but BA’s SOP’s must be adhered to by crew and all data is assessed (even using AI now). So it’s by the book. But yes, would be great if it was a ‘Request fly by’ aka Mav!
On our departure last week we took extra fuel due to forecast bad weather at Singapore and at Kuala Lumpur, so had Bangkok diversion fuel, plus some for holding. Take off weight was about 540 tonnes (max take off weight for us is 560 tonnes). Was a long take off roll but we still had a little power in hand, I think our FLEX temp was about 25 vs an ambient temp of 16 degrees Celsius. Not quite a TOGA take off, but quite close.
One of those flew over my house at about 12000 feet, the normal height for the approach to LAX which is about 50 miles away. Surprising how much quieter it is than other planes.
Everything is dwarfed by the sheer massive size of the 380. Someday, I'd love to see a scaled-up A-10 upgraded with EA GP7200's or R-R Trent 900's. Maybe with a 16" main gun from an Iowa-class battleship.
Flew to Miami on one 2 weeks ago. They are so stable in the air that you really forget that your are actually flying--BA service however is on a major downward tradjectory--very disappointing

I used to frightened of flying but being a passenger on one of these was the best ever- and I was lucky enough to be in business 💕💕💕
