"Doesn't seem to be a problem of lack of receivers" It doesn't? As well as talking about accommodating more users as more satellites are launched, Starlink said this in relation to receivers only a week ago, "“Silicon shortages over the last six months have slowed our expected production rate and impacted our ability to fulfill many Starlink orders this year.” Mind you, competing satellite company Viasat, one of the companies that are using the courts to try and stop Musk from receiving funding, have made similar claims about Starlinks viability and questioning whether or not receiver production is holding back orders, saying in a statement to the FCC, "the Commission can, should, and must conclude that Starlink is the sort of “risky venture” that the Bureaus have concluded should not be funded by the RDOF." Assuming competing satellite company Viasat have made these comments simply for the good of the community and not out of concern for their own viability, then maybe Starlink really is on the verge of bankruptcy. Or maybe not.
It’s not on the verge Elon clarified that he was talking about what a recession would do. It’s probably pretty scary to have hundreds of millions of unpaid for monthly expenses stick around for awhile even if he could easily finance it himself or raise more capital.
Going forward Starlink is ramping up to be able to build millions of receivers a year, but unless they can get Starship ready to launch the needed satellites there will not be enough capacity in space to serve those receivers. By the time Starlink v2 is launching, the silicone shortage is expected to be past.

Well you left a lot out . Musk said they needed to ramp up production and then said IF they didn’t AND there was a giant global recession then bankruptcy wasn’t impossible although even then it was UNLIKELY. You made it sound like if they didn’t get production up that bankruptcy was inevitable. Remember Elon Musk is a little eccentric and has a strange way of motivating his employees.
There's over 500k on a waitlist, lack of customers isn't the issue at all. It's lack of current capacity and needing to launch thousands of new satellites to fulfill the demand.
I will probably get my email saying my dish is ready to ship and then when I get it it will connect and then all of a sudden it will be shut down forever.... RIP my hopes of getting good internet EVER. Only other option is to sell the house....
Musk clarified that bankruptcy risk is contingent on a global recession over the next couple of years and capital drying up, which is unlikely. A lot of space companies would go bankrupt during a global recession as well as other businesses so it isn't suprising. He'd spin off Starlink if it were losing money with not enough customers.
Tesla and SpaceX are distinctly different companies, but Starlink is a core part of SpaceX and is currently central to SpaceX’s business plans going forward.
Elon has indeed talked about spinning off Starlink with and IPO in several years once the network is reliably profitable and predictable. But an IPO now while Starlink is currently running at a huge loss does not make sense.
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter Actually, if they needed to raise a lot of capital quickly an IPO would make a ton of sense. well if it does go under have all the people that signed up for it or have it for that fact, go into business with each other and out source the update software, then have a few warehouses in the middle of the country that can ship out the new square dishes. I would love to get one of these when I retired and in the middle of nowhere. Geez I hope Elon keeps making them they're really cool looking. But this video was in November tho. MMM SMH
I love my Starlink I’m in Australia
Use your heads! The emperor is naked!
Even if SpaceX delivers just 10% of its proposed speeds, it will be more than three time the maximum I can achieve with my DSL provider. No 5G home service provider where I live.
The negative, nearsighted observations expressed in this video is an example of the type of individual I would never hire in my company.
Hey at least with your video making alot of people get their money back my delivery time might change to sooner :)
Paid my deposit 11 months ago. Account says April. Ugh!
Our video was published before Elon Musk posted his clarifying Tweet acknowledging the letter was real and adding more context.
I'm OK with this :)
Lol. Thunderf00t predicted this months ago. Do the math.
maybe if he lowered price of monthly payment maybe more peoples will use it
There's over 500k on a waitlist, lack of customers isn't the issue at all. It's lack of current capacity and needing to launch thousands of new satellites to fulfill the demand.
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter then they can raise prices if they have lot of customers
Fewer people will equate to less profitable.
Dude, Starlink and SpaceX are two different Divisions not the same company. That like saying SpaceX is part of Tesla!
Tesla and SpaceX are distinctly different companies, but Starlink is a core part of SpaceX and is currently central to SpaceX’s business plans going forward.
I can see the "Elon is Tony Stark" worshipers are alive and well!
?? No bankruptcies in any future
I like Elon but not a fan of his Mars efforts and may be his unraveling.
Someone can purchase starlink real cheap...
And Starlink is going to be spun off in a separate IPO.
I would prefer an IPO now since them not making money will mean the initial offering price will be much lower than a spin off years down the line when it is raking in billions. It might be too overvalued at that point to buy in.
Elon can float starling and starship out of h8s own pocket for the next decade and it would barely be a round error on his net worth. Poor baby!
Most of his net worth comes from the value of Tesla and SpaceX stock. If either company starts to struggle, his pockets will shrink a lot.
Lolololol Anyone thinking this is going Bankrupt, well, it just so happens, I have an Igloo for sale that does not melt ! Honestly, utter click bait.
They aren't shipping anymore terminals in the US anymore so who cares!
We’ve seen reports in just the past week of people in the USA receiving the new rectangular Starlink.
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter order in from mar 21 and still no system. knew it was another scam from the get go. Musk is a grifter.
It all depends where you are located. Some areas have immediate availability even today, and other areas are still not covered at all.
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter well since 5% of the beta testers were in my area and one of my neighbors, who has a relative works for starlink, has it I guess to keep up face Starlink is not shipping in my area. Just irks me that they are talking about mobile while I have to connect over my phone is a bummer. I even went to their office in my area but they only promise, but do not, to contact you.
I wish I could invest right now since this hyperbolic Elon statement will scare away a lot of investors.
1 GBps promised, but max currently is 175 MBps
@@utubestalker.dotcom They advertised 100Mbps and say you can expect 100-200Mbps. Some people report 400Mbps, but that's an anomaly. 1 Gbps is down the line when they have 42k sats up.
Starlink is a stupid idea that would never be profitable.
OK what are your plans on how to deliver internet to very rural areas? Let's hear your smart ideas.
@@darylsmioth1904 there are two companies doing it already with just 3 satellites, cheaper than Starlink and without the constant noise. Starlink is a stupid business idea that cannot survive
😬2 launches a month by end of 2022? It’s March 2023 without even reaching orbit and Elon just announced Starships won’t be reusable for a long long time. So unless they plan to build and launch 30 starships (with 180 raptor engines collectively) in the coming 8 1/2 months, it’s not looking good. Elon needs to stop over promising. It’s his single least endearing quality…business wise.
He will pull it off even if he has to use his own $$ also he pays his employees very well so I’m sure they will be willing to put the extra effort in
His "wealth" is derived from the valuation of his companies, not any actual wealth. If SpaceX is worthless, so is he. And things aren't all bright and rosy over at Tesla.
I thought it was targeted towards very rural areas ?
It is, and also all parts of the globe. But it can't provide the service without enough of the right satellites in orbit.
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter NTD news had a report on this issue after I watched your video , Coinciding with what you reported with a little more info . Great video in a timely fashion on your behalf.
Your not doing anyone any favors by doing the “Chicken Little” The sky is falling click baiting.
Elon Musk did the “sky is falling” - we just explained what his email meant.
your reading tooo much in this, SpaceX is multiBillion Dollar Company I laughing at that making a mountain out a mole hill.......
👍👍👊
Pfft
placed an order in March of 21. Not a word after taking the 100$ deposit. Now moved delivery date to early 22. Now this. Starlink is fairy dust for those who have not received their system. Now look forward to the 100$ deposit to vanish and never a sniff of a system. Musk is a Professional Grifter.
Put my order in in February 2021. Only correspondence I got was the received my$ and now my proposed service date was rolled back to late 2022. Ouch!
screw it, im outta here. get ur refund b4 they go belly up!
Its another worthless product nobody needs. The cost is double the competition and the service is garbage. You don’t even get half the upload or download speed either.
I think you're confused on what Starlink is. No other satellite service offers unlimited data for $99 month with speeds up to 200+ Mbps. And many absolutely need it - those in rural markets and who are mobile, without access to cable or fiber internet.
It's probably a long con by Elon. I lost all respect for him when he disparraged that cave diver and lied in court.
Now come on.........someone will buy Starlink and it WILL continue and payoff big time.
The catch is that Starlink is losing billions and has (according to Elon) no hope of being profitable unless Starship works out. If SpaceX can’t manage - no one else will likely want to step in.
The point is Starlink needs $30 Billion to survive
@@utubestalker.dotcom No, he said $10bil for cash flow positive and $30bil total investment. It's profitable around 2-4mil subscribers since that's 4.8bil coming in every year with about that much satellite cost assuming the sats are 300-500k each as they have revealed. Over 5 year lifespan it would likely profit.
