This is a beautiful performance of Mozart's duet by two outstanding musicians from different generations and cultures. They play with unity in soul and their phrasing and interpretation is heart rendering. It proves that music transcends all barriers
Amazing Mozart piece. Whenever I see Daniel Barenboim, I am reminded of his deceased wife, the great cellist Jacqueline du Pre whose rendition of the Edgar Cello Concerto is unmatched. Mozart produces endless melodies effortlessly. A true genius who was full of talent, but alas he died young. But what a legacy of music did he leave behind. Bravi to Barenboim and Lang Lang for their excellent rendition of this piece.
I can imagine Mozart composed this at a private party in Salzburg , when the wine was flowing and the ladies were present . The last movement is a compliment to all .
If one wishes to understand the meaning of the word sublime, the Andante movement of this sonata defines it impeccably. Barenboim and LangLang reach the pinnacle of piano playing. Every note make sense. This perforamnce should give everyone goose bumps.
An excellent interpretation of Mozart`s Sonata in D for four hands. Barenboim and Lang Lang captured and produced the liveliness and buoyancy of the first movement and especially the beauty and lyrical quality of the second movement . .
There IS expressive joy, heartfelt and artistic communication, and highest-level pianism in that last movement. Thank you Samuel for posting this. Inspiring!
Mozart's sonatas for four hands are are the perfect examples of this musical form, and it's a pity that four-handed piano music is so seldom performed in concert.
Wonderful, thank you for posting. I watched the masterclass on Beethoven that Barenboim gave Lang Lang, but I didn't know they had performed together. Lang was quick to understand what Barenboim was pointing out, so I am not surprised to hear their harmony here!
Oh man. Just scrolled down and noticed the comment: "Barenboim is hopeless as a pianist." Hahaha! That's gotta be the funniest thing I've read in a week. Hopeless!? My dad is "hopeless" as a pianist. My great-aunt Marge is "hopeless" as a pianist. Daniel Barenboim?? Too funny. RUclips is the best.
Jean Chalant is funny yes, Barenboim is one of the most important musician we have, he has extremely knowledge about music, all records as conductor and pianist.
+xXRobixCubeXx Yun Quartet? it's a sonata for 4 hands! A piano quartet would be piano and three other instruments (mostly violin, viola and violoncello)! xD
Barenboim played Mozart's concerto for 2 pianos , KV .365 Easter 1976 with Sir Clifford Curzon . Wonderful , they even played the last movement as an encore .
Lang Lang might be playing the melody, but I find being the accompanist MUCH harder because you have to follow the rhythm of the other. Still, Barenboim is amazing. I wonder how long they've rehearsed to make it sound so nice.
UNA CARICIA PARA EL ALMA !! MAESTRO BARENBOIM USTED ES UN ORGULLO PARA ARGENTINA ... LANG LANG SU VIRTUOSISMO ES SIN PALABRAS !! GRACIAS POR COMPARTIR ESTE VIDEO .
Of Mozart’s piano four hands pieces, this one easily is the most well-known, competing with perhaps K. 521. The piece is deservedly so. For such a young composer, this piece manages to showcase his already masterful ability of writing melancholic yet content Andantes and Adagios. K. 358 is another good example.
Thank God ignorance is owned by the one exsiting and owning it within themselves. I have no good or bad to say here. I am glad to be here to see and hear this. :) Each of us has a choice to be or don't be. To exsist or don't. Speak or don't speak. I hope honesty wins. Honesty of 100 years compared to today. Honesty has no limit from years or anything else. Truth is because it is.
i'm a simple bassoonist so my opinion is probably irelevant --- i think it is wonderful to listen and see two concert pianists from such different demographics playing this music together --- they are both deeply musical, playing music that makes any space seem more intimate --- two bassoonists of similar standing would not draw hundreds of rapt listeners, but we still understand the experience.
Barenboim y Lang Lang virtuosismo en estado puro. Mozart llevado a la máxima culminación interpretativa. 4 manos como cuatro cinceles desbastando la música y un martillo en forma de piano para culminar el éxtasis sonoro de la belleza.
I don't love it, but I do get your meaning. I mean - there is SO MUCH to choose from on RUclips, everyone should be able to find something they like, and focus on that!
The standard of concert pianism today is so extraordinarily high that there are a lot of wonderful pianists, but are there any clear stand-outs?I'm not sure.At the moment I am very impressed by Yuja Wang. Her Prokofiev 3 is superb and her technique is wonderful.I also like Till Felner and Murray Perahia.
Although I think it'd be an exaggeration to say that Lang Lang is the first piano genius in generations, I must agree that he is a splendid pianist and I absolutely admire him!! I must disagree with your critical comment against other musicians because they are also really good. Anyway, I'm glad there are some people who don't hate Lang Lang :D
Good pianist will not play and express music the same way twice. Our mood and soul will never be exactly the same twice. Just feel it don't listen .Different audience will have different result.
It must make you feel very smart and superior making a comment like that about one of the most distinguished and respected pianists of our time! You might not like his piano playing (although i can't imagine why) but to say he is hopeless is ridiculous and amounts to defamation!
hang on a second, Whos downing Barenboim? Before saying anything.. consider the fact Barenboim conducted a masterclass giving Lang Lang pointers on dynamics.
Votre jeu à quatre mains pour cette oeuvre Mozart est fantastique !!! Merci pour ce partage partage des ❤

They play beautifully together, and it's a tribute to the composer.

YOU BOTH TOUCHED MY SOUL SO BEAUTIFULL THANKS FOR SHARING WILLI FROM HOLLAND
Scariest job on the planet? Page turner to Barenboim and Lang!!
Peter Byrne one mistake=all fck
I'm sure they rehearsed it
But it would definitely still be scary
Peter Byrne uuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Looks like Barnboim's son, Michael, who is a violinist.
What a great duo of masters. They are both indeed superb.
Mozart is an amazing genius.
Mozart's sonatas for four hands are are the perfect examples of this musical form, and it's a pity that four-handed piano music is so seldom performed in concert.
you like the 4 Hands in C K 521? my favorite mozart sonata 3rd mvt is divine
I like how their heads bob up and down in unison.
Best Performance I saw in RUclips, nice phrasing and bass voice. All voices are good balanced with contrasts and understanding from Harmonie.
Barenboin is a great pianist ad a very xperience director... I'm proud of been an argentinean just like him
Beautiful performance! The familiar rhythm of Mozart's sonata allows me to recall my Mozart's lessons in college. Awesome!
The perfect technik
meets the perfect feeling of music!

Baremboim is an arsehole, but a conssumate musician and extremely skilled pianist.
Jean Chalant is funny yes, Barenboim is one of the most important musician we have, he has extremely knowledge about music, all records as conductor and pianist.
He's the best interpreter of Beethoven's piano music of all time.
@@rainjacketdot54 jokes are supposed to be funny :)
@@JH-tq3uy out of your personal experience? Interesting how you think it's valuable to write things like this.
FANTÁSTICO....EXCELENTE.....MARAVILLOSO
Mozart sonata duet,it is quite difficult to play as unity. awesome performance.
Wow what a mind blowing performance it was the best piano quartet i have ever heard
+xXRobixCubeXx Yun Quartet? it's a sonata for 4 hands! A piano quartet would be piano and three other instruments (mostly violin, viola and violoncello)! xD
Blessed to hear so much beautiful noise called music!
Der führende Kopf, wie immer Barenboim. Souverän wie immer. Er zeigt den Weg.

Totally awesome... I love these two pianists; they are my favorites.
This is out of place, but who's the page turner. He's very attractive.
Wonderful👍🌹🌹🌹
Barenboim, if nothing else, is so lucky to have a conductor beside him.
What do you mean?
UN VERDADERO PLACER ESCUCHAR DOS TALENTOS JUNTOS.........
QUE MÁS SE PUEDE DECIR MÁS.....SOLO BRAVO!!!!!!!
Around 11:12, Barenboim gives a "don't you dare" look to the page turner. So funny!

Daniel Barenboin: un grande!!!! Lang Lang: mágico!
Une harmonie si parfaite que çà semble irréel! ❤
Mozart wrote the secondo part for himself. It is decidedly more difficult than the primo.
@MrBrobdingnagian Being able to do all those things while playing makes him even better
