I love everything chewing and sticky...so I love them all, but somehow the sweet one is almost only made/eaten around Chinese New Year. Back in the days when my grandma and mother made it for the season..we could not wait to stick our chopsticks in the hot, soft freshly steamed rice cake, twisting the chopsticks pulling a lovely big ball of gooey goodness out and ate it right away... the rest was left to cool to be eaten like this the rest of the time..such lovely memories
That’s such a lovely memory! Thank you for sharing it with me. Now that you have this recipe, you can make it whenever you like. Happy Chinese New Year! May this new year brings you more joy and happiness! ☺️🙏
I have been looking for this recipe , and this is the closest one to what my mom made …so I AM SAVING this version and making it CNY 2024! Simple and easy . I like both savoury and sweet . For savoury …. My mommy used to make glutinous rice thin dumplings with pork stock soup and grated daikon , dried shrimp . Soooo delicious during winter . Do you have a recipe ? I would love to make that daikon pork ( she used ground pork and pork bones ) soup with sticky noodle / thin dumplings . Please share … Thank you !!
always wanted to make it, never knew it's that simple. Thanks for sharing. I came from Hong Kong and we like to dip it in egg then fry. I like both but most of time I have savory Shanghai style
Light olive oil is a refined oil, produced using heat after the first pressing of virgin oil. Rather than a deep green, light olive oil has a golden yellow hue. It keeps longer on the shelf and has a higher smoke point than other types of olive oil. ☺️

Hi Cici can i ask what is the texture difference once cooked btw adding wheat flour and none. I always use just glutinous rice flr it's very chewy
Can I use corn starch for wheat starch?
Hi Cici...I want to know if the Wheat Starch equivalent to Tang Mien Flour or what type of flour. Thank you
Thank you for the recipe.
Can I use arrowroot starch or corn flour instead of wheat starch?
I can’t find the wheat starch, can I make it without it or can I use substitute?
I use sweet potato starch and works perfect
😋 😋 😋 😋
I am always learning, easy recipes, and delicious.

What is "light" olive oil? never heard of it

How will you be celebrating new year? 😉 ❤️
I’ve ordered some beers, chocolates and fortune cookies 😋
~~and a lucky cat haha
We usually eat a big feast on New Year’s Eve. And then the celebration continues for the next 15 days. ☺️
is that a jujube^^ on the rice cake^^
Yep ☺️👍
Thank you and sadly 😢I like them both lol
☺️👍👍 Happy Lunar New Year
I have never seen or eaten this
This is another type of rice cake. It's known as Chinese New Year Sweet Rice Cake. It's also called Nian Gao in Chinese. ☺️
Its popular among overseas Chinese in South East Asia, it is also called the "basket cake"
I made this but I think I ended up undercooking it. ;0;
You can always put it back in the steamer for a little more if it's undercooked. No worries. ☺️
@@CiCiLi oh thank for the reply :) I ended up frying them this week to finish the cooking process
They look like caramel chews. 😮
One of my friend said they look like chocolate. 😄
