      especially when they could've easily baked it into the Dreadsteed itself instead of removing the glyph (but let monks keep their levatate). Just have it re-activate after about 10 seconds if you're not in combat. No big thing.

      How about you do some content on your druid then? You should be getting one within like 3 world quest chests, the dropchance for your first two is ridiculously high.

      Karlzone2 you say that the drop chance is ridiculously high. I played the shit out of the game on my main, I was doing everything I could, and yet no leggie would drop for me, my brother who played slightly more than me had 4 already and a friend of ours had 3, I eventually gave up on hoping to get one when my brothers fourth dropped without me getting a single one. A week later I was pleasantly surprised when one dropped for me, I have no hope for a second, however.

    legendaries should be like green fire... rare drop item (class spesific?) starts a quest that is (mostly?) solo content that rewards the legendary after testing your skill with the class (cuz the green fire boss was pretty difficult when it first came out)
    that way it'd be accessable to everyone but would be (1) very rare and (2) very hard to obtain..

    • @Razkunn
      @Razkunn 7 лет назад +1

      darcraven01 yes, what I kept saying since I saw the system. even a quest which awards you a token, which can be used to buy whatever you want...but it's easier. remove the fuckers, add a slot for a legendary relic, no ilvls, just the passive. and you just unlock the 2nd slot and choose the fun passive which works. it's so bloody easy to think of. Our ARTIFACT weapons are legendary by their nature. shouldn't empowering them further be the goal, rather than squirrels gifting me a magical trinket made of demons which fires a nuke... :D

    • @vividly94
      @vividly94 7 лет назад +8

      I wish legendaries were back to be purposely OP and hard as fuck to be obtained so we would have none of this bullshit,
      "Wah wah wah i have no legendary!"
      whilst making legendaries easier to obtain until eventually everyone gets one at the end of the expansion. lmfao

    • @kippies66
      @kippies66 7 лет назад +4

      My thoughts exactly, the best part about each legendary (that had a questline) was.... the questline! Add group elements and it turns into endless grinding and farming with the only enjoyable part being that shiny orange glow ad the end of the tunnel.

    • @davoodoo8042
      @davoodoo8042 7 лет назад

      How rare are we talking here?? you know, im mythic raider, i do everything that got ap in there but i only just got my brawlers invite...
      I understand it being rare, but not the point where it would affect my performance in raids.
      But then again i liked idea of quests, they could be less grindy and more rp and/or solo challenge based but it was generally good system, youre best in your guild you get rewarded, unless you got stereotypical loot council(and stereotypes dont come from thin air) then youre waiting.

    Phase 1: You, champion, will now be known as Highlord of the Silver Hand!
    Phase 2: Highlord, we received informations from blahblahblah

    A quote by Ghostcrawler showed up on mmo-champ in the past week or two about how one of the biggest things they actually regretted was the 5-level cap increases for Cata and MoP because the reason they only did 5 levels was to give people a new ability every level. It made leveling through those expansions blow and ruined balance for years.

    Man that Sonic music on #1 really brought back memories.
    For legendaries - have a class quest that lets you create a replica of the legendary (same weapon but no auras or effects). After completing that quest you receive another quest or an item that gives it a chance to drop in raid - once per week regardless of difficulty. This ties the legendary to story and non-raid but it means that raiders get the better piece of gear with all of the cool effects as a status symbol.

    I've always been for having Legendaries or incredibly rare things in different aspects of the game that not everyone will attain or see. If you don't want to raid, too bad, you don't get to see it, don't pvp, you won't get those special mounts etc. Having something specific to the different aspects of the game is what makes me want to try and get on those levels to attain or see them. Seeing oranges fall out of the sky just dumbs them down, what makes them legendary if everyone has them?

      To be clear, the goal of getting more players into raiding is a good one. But the way Raid Finder turned out removed, IMO anyway, a lot of the epicness of what made raiding raiding. You're not the only one, I abhor it. Out of all the crazy changes they've made over the years, dungeon finder and LFR are the ones that bother me the most, they devastated the realm communities. I know I'm an outlier, but I actually enjoyed taking the time to look for a group, bond with new people you met on your realm, and make friends in the process. Everything just feels so cold and distant these days.

    I've been playing since late Vanilla and I have noticed that ever since Blizzard started pandering to masses to make everyone happy, they lost a lot of the core values this game had. You knew who was good just by looking at their gear. Content weeded out the terrible raiders and pvpers. Exclusive items to any content is now the mainstream for everyone and if you don't have these items, well, let's face it, people don't want you for raids or pvp. It's funny how things like that flip.

    • @DominusCypher
      @DominusCypher 7 лет назад +1

      Yeah.. and everyone that was "good" looked exactly the same; no sort of customization. (Thank Frank Sinatra for the transmog system.) But yes, they have in fact tried making the game more accessible to the masses because, surprise surprise, they're a company that wants to make money, and you make more money if more people are willing to play your game; for better or for worse.
      I would agree that just handing out legendary weapons, that never need changing, at the start of an expansion was downright stupid, but that's also based on my personal opinion, and whether that's to their benefit or detriment in the end is their problem.

    • @codymilam5001
      @codymilam5001 6 лет назад

      Nah, everyone looked different because of fucking clownsuits and shitty drop-rates on your upgrades. Every warrior had an Arcanite Reaper or Ice Barbed Spear, but there was only 1-2 dudes on your server in full dreadnought plate or their BiS.
      Besides the whole pander to masses just made WoW into an odd abomination of constantly changing features and dead-end development. It's basically an entirely different and opposite game to how it was even in early cataclysm.

  • @anders1211
    @anders1211 7 лет назад +54

    I always believed add-ons was blizzards biggest regret, just imagine how much of the game design have been influenced by add-ons. Theey haave to design encounters in the game around people having add-ons, which means some add-ons are mandetory for most people in the game.

    • @karlzone2
      @karlzone2 7 лет назад +29

      Well addons were also a large part of what gave WoW an edge over lots of other MMOs, so I don't truly think they regret it.

    • @N4chtigall

      Addons are awesome :)!

    • @douger77
      @douger77 7 лет назад +8

      I disagree with this. No encounters are designed around addons. The addons are built for the encounter. Why do you think people who make addons use the ptr to test and build them. If DMB was removed all people would have to is make personal timers for when stuff was about to happen. The reason DBM is mandatory in most guilds is because people have the worse situational awareness and it ensures that if you fuck up you have no excuse other than you fucked up.

    • @karlzone2
      @karlzone2 7 лет назад +3

      Absolute bollocks! The devs have at multiple occasions said that their encounter design progressed as addons for the game progressed. Without DBM, we would not have the complex encounters that we do today. Sure, you may be able to do all the content without addons, but that does not mean it's intended to be done that way. The devs know perfectly well that raiders use DBM and its timers, which means that simple timer based mechanics of the past are no longer a challenge.

    They need to stop worrying about upsetting people, let them leave. They'll be back! I miss the days were I had no chance of acquiring any good gear and I had to walk around looking at players with epics and legendaries that were just that, epic and legendary. Now they're available to me it's just not interesting, they try to make you feel like the world needs you, it was so much better when they made it feel like the world would continue without you.

      Dangleplums however clearly not for everyone. I see your side of it, but Blizzard is trying to please the masses, they dont care if some people leave, as long as the majority stays, and they found the best way to keep people was to make stuff less difficult to get

      Yup, this couldn"t be more true. The satisfaction of getting rare items lies in the difficulty, and the general "it's on you to get these items, and even then, you may still never get it" feeling in the processes of obtaining them. Otherwise, if these items are just handed out to people, it doesn't carry that same amount of prestige and satisfaction in owning.

      Or it could just be because of the fact that this is a game that is running on a 13 year old formula that people have already gotten tired of.
      And I also remember the olden days when I saw people going around with great legendaries, shiny PvP-gear, and epic thingamabobs. I also remember quitting for a few years because the amount time and energy you needed to sink into the game to get said gear was ridiculous. Mind you, they have gone off the rails a little to much in the other direction this time; just handing them out for free at the start is in fact equally as stupid. Now if they could just skip back a little bit more towards the centre that would be great; though you can never appease everyone, and even trying to is a pointless practice.

    Draenor and Broken Isles have so many hills and obscure areas that the absence of flying makes questing just plain annoying. I've spent up to an hour trying to find a way around a hill just to get to a quest goal. This is not fun. So flying mounts are a necessity. Either that or flatten out the maps.

      This is why Demon Hunter was the best class in 7.0.
      With double fel rush, blur (which at that time refreshed both charges of fel rush), glide and disengage, I didn't even bother mounting for short distances (thus skipping the tedious dismount, do stuff, remount) loop, and typically could find a way to climb what was in the way.

    • @DominusCypher
      @DominusCypher 7 лет назад

      And who exactly has been forcing you, or anyone else for that matter, to use said flying mount when out and about in the world? The answer is no one. If you don't want to use them, you don't have to. But if you want to use them, you can.
      Let me guess though, your argument goes something like this:
      "But flying mounts take out all the fun from the game, because everyone should want to play the game the same way I do! And you can't seriously expect me not to use them if you give me the option to."

    Great video and good points. You're hitting it on the nail here. Blizzard needs to be more careful with what they implement. If they add something that's too convenient it breaks the already established game. Sometimes adding 1 piece of content can destroy 10 pieces of the previous content.
    They've been very busy the past expacs with thinking "What would be cool new gameplay?" What they really need to think is "What would make the gameplay that's already there cooler?"

    As someone who was on a top guild for a server, we did 25 man until we couldn't progress anymore without more gear, usually 2-3 days after raid reset, then we'd split into 3 groups and progress through 10man for more loot. pulling 5 others from reserves that weren't as consistent in attendance.
    That system worked for us, idk what others are complaining about

  • @Gennextsystems

    Legendaries? Let's go a step further and make purples EPIC again. I remember getting my first piece of my T1 set almost 12 years ago. I was so excited it was almost comparable to Christmas morning. And now today I probably looted over 10 epics through solo content all of which got vendered for gold. Not very exciting. The best items in the game should be rare and only rewarded to those who work hard for them. I also feel like having 20 different scaled variations of the same gear takes away from its uniqueness and ultimately diminishes its overall reward value. At this rate, blizzard might as well sell legendaries in their store and give everyone who joins a battle ground the Grandmarshal tittle.

    Tl;Dr - a big sappy post about, "old" world of warcraft
    Nothing is more dissatisfying than having legendaries drop from a chest. Since when was opening a hecking chest legendary? World of Warcraft turned to World of Convenience-Craft after wrath it would seem. The legendary feeling of teaming up with players, socializing through the world, discovering items that actually felt legendary (even when they were only rare), zones chalk full of interesting quests, easter eggs and storylines. But, most of all, the game actually felt like it had character and excitement. It seems that the game is all but interesting with classes being so homogenized, the story feeling so lackluster and cliche, and epic moments feeling all but epic.
    I remember getting 1 silver 2 copper from a stag when I first started playing. I thought I hit the jackpot since the other mobs dropped only a few copper pieces. I remember later on getting a mount and that felt incredible after saving all I had to get it with a friend. I remember leveling up and seeing spells that weren't always useful but they were so cool I didn't care. I remember the freshness of zones full of areas I could return to for good reasons. I remember getting the Stonecore mount on my first run of the dungeon without knowing the mount existed. Hell, I remember when the game was all about exploring new areas, killing bosses I didn't really understand, and being lost in a world far larger than my imagination had ever seen before. After years of playing the game, those sparks of wonder disappeared beyond nostalgia, and that's okay. It's normal to get use to things. The game is, and will forever be, life changing to me. But 8 years since the day I walked through the gates of Stormwind, I hate to see the few things that remain wondrous after all these years begin to slip away.

    one way i think flying can be improved without being removed is add a max flight height for the lower flying skills and make it impossible to just fly over mountains and cliffs (with some exeptions to account for otherwise unreachable areas). For example expert riding would allow you to fly high enough to not pull agro on mobs but nowhere near high enough to not feel part of the zone. Jumping off a high spot would make it work as a glider and give you a controllable, even straight glide down. at first highest riding skill would be unchanged. After a while they could see if it was a popular idea, if so they could implement it for the higher riding skills as well.

    I really like the way you get flying in Draenor and Broken isles now. Mens you do get your flying mounts but generally only after you've hit level cap and done everything. So it is purely a post content convenience for getting around rather than crutch for basically ignoring content.

    With classic coming out, I hope it does well enough to get classic TBC. I'ma miss flight.
    I also think Wrath and Cata had the best legendary system. Yeah, they were quest based and you could pretty much calculate when you would get them. But they were also restricted to actual raiding.
    The joy I felt when we finally managed to keep me alive during the syndragosa fight while I was getting my frost infusion was supreme. My guild and I had worked hard on that, and when we finally put arthas to the blade, it was ever so much more satisfying than sticking a fire eye on a hammer and calling it done.
    Sure, the warglaives are cool, but extremely anti-climatic at the same time. It just beick walls when you get them. No fanfare, no story etc. But receiving it through a quest really gives it some spice in my opinion.
    On that note. Fuck legendary armor/jewelry/trinkets. The orange monoliths should always be weapons!
