Very nice work, it's good to see classic cars that can be in daily use and still look so original. Love the analogue battery meter, it's in keeping with the original style. Excellent!
Restoration videos get a lot of views. People love to watch an old car being torn down and restored in 30 minutes. The videos you make are great. Seeing the car restored and converted in time lapse would be awesome.
I was on fb and saw an ad for a tesla vw bus exactly like this. I put a donation in for the auction but this is the model my dad was fixing up before he passed, the bank took it with his old house but I really loved this video, thank you.
This is gorgeous. I don't know why I feel the need to mention that, as a teen in 1974-75 I had a 1965 bus in green. I bought it for $600. That little bus took my friends and I on many fun filled adventures around Long Island and upstate New York. The stock look is the best look to my eye on these resto-mods, whether gasoline or electric. I'm looking forward to seeing many more iconic and stylish cars from the past being revived with electric power (which, by the way, will only really be "green" when we go New-Generation Nuclear for our electric power.)
Not saying I hate it, but a massive part of their character is the air cooled engine These things were mostly a hobby for enthusiast's, keeping an old air-cooled motor throbbing is something to be proud of, putting electric motors in them seems a strange idea, yeh you can argue the eco point but these aren't daily drivers, the sound of air-cooled motors and smell of long duration cams is the point in having one isn't it?
>^. .^< Lovely conversion and color, Best Wishes with it. My father had a 62 VW factory camper so these are in my personal grow up history, thus I too love them to excess.....
one word , waw!! well done!!, but the thing is will miss with those to electric converted van's is the spinning boxer motor........ the sound of a volkswagen bus.........., but you did a good job guy's.....
Beautiful work. Love that people are restoring and converting old VW busses. I like everything about it… the one thing that is given up is the sound of the VW engine. But worth it.
I have two buses, a 65 camper and a 67 kombi. Which one is a better candidate and what would be an approximate cost to convert to similar standards as the bus on the video?
Got a 66 Kombi with 50's camper kit in pretty fair shape actually. How much (roughly) for this level redo? Camper kit would stay with me I'll restore that and I would reinstall it after redo. I need a figure to see about shifting around a few things first is why I ask. Thank you in advance for your time. I do hope to hear from you...love the vid obviously, more importantly thank you for posting. Mike
I get keeping the older look, but I would absolutely love it if someone did a roof rack solar panel. Maybe help with some of the charging while on the road.
Beautiful bus. It's looks like it just came from the showroom floor. Ironically, it's probably going to be hauled to Washington on a diesel powered truck.
I’m just wondering on adverse how much would it be to buy a pre built electrical Volkswagen minibus / how much is everything added on to this so I could do it myself
It’s definitely easy to imagine vehicles like this could be the wave of the not so distant future. It would be great to know if people have requisition one or two of them since you uploaded this video. My question is, could you hypothetically include autonomous propulsion systems that VW was exploring for the I D concept cars? I am asking as a disabled US citizen (legal blindness) that is barred from obtaining drivers documentation. My father who drove a microbus in the 60s mentioned that they were particularly hazardous because of the single layer of chassis between the driver seat and the open air. Is there a way of cushioning the inside? Listening to your channel introduction, my head went straight to Dan Aykroyd saying “switch me on“.
Re: autonomous driving and other modern-day safety features, Volkswagen has promised their I.D.Buzz model for 2022. Zelectric retrofits won't be including that option anytime soon, if ever.
Well if they weren't so expensive and had more range I'd love one of those. Have to admit this van looks incredible. But the main reason I'd want one is to travel around through Europe. Unfortunately with this limited range this would mean I'd be spending the majority of my travel time at a charging station.
My first 3 cars, in the 80's were VW buses. I bought them because that's all I could afford at the time (all under $1500 back then) and they were the only thing on the market with some cargo space. At the risk of being chastised by everyone here, they were not the funnest cars to drive. Had to change the engine and or the transmission every other year; the breaks weren't so great; and the infamous starter motor (those who ever owned one these can relate). Alas, these old clunkers were the best of their kind on the market, because non of the other automakers had the imagination to make a better version. My question is, why would it make any sense to spend $20K-$50K+ to have an old VW electrified clunker (or worst gas engine) when you could have a Cybertruck or something similar for more or less the same price? Performance or not, I think you'll an AC and an electric window with the Cybertruck. Way back then, where these vans could be had for $1000 or a little more, not body wanted them, because there were junk. Why everybody wants one now that they are so much more money? VW if you are listening, build a new (but well-made version please) e-bus for under $35K and you might have a winner.
Beautiful Microbus who need 3 to 4 hr of charge every 90 miles! Good enough for local commuting but clearly come short in range and fast charging time to consider doing a 150+ miles trip.
ZelectricBug let me ask you this the motor you put in this one has less horsepower than a Tesla motor wouldn’t you get double the range if you put in a batttey system out of a long range model 3
@Thomas Gary: Who are you to call anyone pathetic little puke and judge what people can or can't do with their ride? This discussion was pretty clean until you get in. Go back to your room child!
Canadians call deer whistles deer atractors lol they say they make all of the deer near the road panic and running all directions including across the road in front of your car. A Canadian friend of mine put them on his new car and within two weeks he hit a deer so he added two more deer whistles only weeks later he hit another deer and totaled the car. He was 50 had lived in Canada all his life and never hit a deer.
try some sound deadening material used in yacht and boat engine enclosures. power train need not be that loud. My approach to this would be to use an entire leaf drivetrain, and marry it to the swing axles.. making a vanagon with CV Joints a better recipient, than the older vw bus with its swing arm transaxle and reduction gear boxes...although I know you are following a VW conversion path that goes back to the 1960's . The construction of the bus and vangon allows the batteries to go between frame members under the floor, which is a very good thing in a tall vehicle with high ground clearance. The improved suspension, and brakes of the vanagon.. and the lower cost compared to the vulture culture surrounding the old style bus.. all favor the vanagon. but it's all good. grew up with 36 hp vws bugs and buses...
A company good do well making vintage VW bus replicas out of fiberglass, just like they do with Porsche Speedsters, etc. …and offer different drivetrains…I believe there is a large market for these…not to mention camper versions.
I would love to see the first Electric ⚡️ UAZ BUKHANKA VAN BUILD some builders are opting to avoid using Tesla batteries 🔋 and going instead with the Chevy volt batteries seeing their design is lighter

Really nice build. Nice ‘analog’ voltage meter.

Wow - I wish I could afford to own of these as an extra vehicle. Very nice work!
It´s always a pleasure to see this beautiful, unique design. You get those heartwarming feelings.
Even of not original, a very nice restoration and the ultimate tree hugger flower power van! 😁
Beautiful , this is my dream bus♡
I’m from San Diego! I entered to win this January 2021! What an amazing bus! Hugs!!!
Very nice build. Beautiful result.
Simply Beautiful!!! Can't wait to get this.
Dude this is so cool, I wish I could afford one!!!!
Would love to electrify my '59 panel walk-through but it runs great with 1600.☺
No comment ! is very AMAZING This Old Combi Volkswagen year's 1966 ELECTRIC OLD CAR
Beautiful work-and the perfect platform for your conversion!
Beautiful bus, great color!
What a gem!
I entered in the contest and I am very sure I’m going to win. Excited to drive this baby
Man that’s awesome.. a lot of people want me to do electric motor for my bus… I wish I could afford… so expensive 😆
Absolutely a work of art! Fantastic job, thank's for sharing
I've never donated to something so fast in my life. Fingers crossed

How long does the conversion take
THE ANALOGUE FUEL GAGE LOOKS MUCH BETTER. WHY NOT PUT SOME MORE BATTERIES UNDER THE (LARGER) REAR SEAT?
Beautiful work. Love that people are restoring and converting old VW busses. I like everything about it… the one thing that is given up is the sound of the VW engine. But worth it.

For improved range on long distance trips, take the roof rack off. It creates much more drag then you think.
nice but i miss the Engine sound i hope you can it play from a Musicbox
I get keeping the older look, but I would absolutely love it if someone did a roof rack solar panel. Maybe help with some of the charging while on the road.
A solar panel that would take the entire roof would probably give 2-3 miles of range if it sat in the sun all day. So, kind of pointless.
Why don’t you mount the batteries under the floorpan? Seems like a perfect place to keep the weight down low.
They are giving this beauty away in a raffle on Omaze! I’ll come back and comment if I win it!
shut up and take my money
this van is so adorable, damn it!!!
my dream electric bus 👌
Beautiful bus. It's looks like it just came from the showroom floor. Ironically, it's probably going to be hauled to Washington on a diesel powered truck.
I’m just wondering on adverse how much would it be to buy a pre built electrical Volkswagen minibus / how much is everything added on to this so I could do it myself
Beautiful but woeful range could they not add more batteries to it?
We build to order. A larger battery pack and greater range isn't a problem.
Can you do this project with a diesel bus full size?
Can you add solar panels along the roof (as big an area as possible) to assist/supplement the battery range?
It’s definitely easy to imagine vehicles like this could be the wave of the not so distant future. It would be great to know if people have requisition one or two of them since you uploaded this video. Re: autonomous driving and other modern-day safety features, Volkswagen has promised their I.D.Buzz model for 2022. Zelectric retrofits won't be including that option anytime soon, if ever.
Which means, the ID models are not gonna remain concept cars forever?
I love this Electric VW Microbus very very much.👍🏼❤️🙏🏻🥰🤗
how much would it cost to make a 1965 mustang or a 1968 mercury cougar electric? I want it to go around the 200 mile range with ac, heat, and radio.
Beautiful VW Bus 👌🏼🤘🏻❤️💯
Wow very nice report
why no solar panels??? Do the battery needs more power to charge ?
How much for somthing like this?
I'm also curious about this. Probably one of those deals where if you have to ask, you can't afford it!
Very very cool, I grew up with those back in the day. Approximately what is the build cost for that awesome bus?
OB is my favorite place.
Did you have to get rid of the belly pans?
Well if they weren't so expensive and had more range I'd love one of those. Have to admit this van looks incredible. But the main reason I'd want one is to travel around through Europe. Unfortunately with this limited range this would mean I'd be spending the majority of my travel time at a charging station.
Hey, I live in San Diego County! Me! I need that VW Bus! How much does it cost for a custom made?
What powers the heater, also can any waste heat from the motor and battery cooling system be used to help heat the interior?
All-electric heater 120-volt ceramic.

Que hermoso trabajo de instalacion, muy limpio
Vehiculo genial Para impulsar vehiculos sostenible
Beautiful Microbus who need 3 to 4 hr of charge every 90 miles! Good enough for local commuting but clearly come short in range and fast charging time to consider doing a 150+ miles trip.
We build to order - this one lives on an island and range wasn't much of a concern. Next build features a Tesla motor and 220 mile range. -db
ZelectricBug let me ask you this the motor you put in this one has less horsepower than a Tesla motor wouldn’t you get double the range if you put in a batttey system out of a long range model 3

Yeah

Awesome kombi with electric engine..
whats the top speed on this bus, or recommended top speed
Can you put in more batteries given the huge room, so you could go 300-400miles before charge?
Do you shift like internal combustion engine?
Sorry for the slow reply but yes and yes.
Nicely done! Love to electrify my '79 bus. I wish the conversion kits were more affordable.

Very nicely done really
Make build timelapse.
The big question is: How Much?
How long would this take? And how much would the conversion cost?
Ev conversions typically start at $30k
If I win this beauty, I'm going to spend the 20k on adding more batteries.
