      Hi Suzanne!
I'm very honored to be placed in such prestigious company! That's so kind of you to say. Thank you! I bet Mr. Rogers never received an education like I've received since starting the channel! I was just told I was "showing a lot of butt!" a few comments above yours. lol No wonder Mr. Rodgers always kept that sweater on! Maybe I better try that?
As always, thank you for watching and commenting!

Pretty incredible. These people are truly talented to be able to do this. I had no idea the synergy needed to chime the bells. I'm glad people care enough to keep this art alive.

Random thoughts: 1) This is what a patriot looks like -- not wrapped in a flag, but showing respect from the heart. 2) Mark has excellent interviewer skills and interest in the world around him. 3) And in a slightly lascivious vein: Thanks for the booty show we've been waiting for!

Stunning, absolutely stunning. The architecture is astoundingly beautiful!! It touches me deeply to see such craftsmanship and skill executed by human hands.
The bells...math, music, harmony and organization all rolled into one!! What a dream! It’s a breath of fresh air. So grateful for the in-depth tutorial! Also grateful they are following historical ringing practices. Nothing modern to gum it up and dumb it down. Again, beauty by human hands!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻. The precision is astonishing.
The mouse story gave me the willies...🥴😬🤢 That person definitely needs a massive award!!
I can’t believe people peel for 14+ hours!!! That’s dedication that is off the rails!
Such beautiful wheels, bells, and mechanisms!! I’m in awe of all this craftsmanship!!! Makes my heart skip a beat. 💓💓💓
The trip through this magnificent and magical history is just priceless. I feel verklempt! Just a sec...I’ve got something in my eye...
Mark, your videos are so diverse. The excitement of every single one is refreshing and rejuvenating as if it’s the first one. Thank you so much for bringing so much life and true beauty into our lives!! Many blessings, Mark! 🙏🏻💞🙌🏻

You are so very welcome! I learned a lot last Sunday when filming too! Wasn't that interesting? The film doesn't even began to show what it feels like standing next to that work of art which belongs to all of us as our "National Cathedral"! If you're ever in the Washington DC area, it's well worth the visit. It looks like it's straight out of Europe!

Fascinating video Mark! However due to an appointment I'm going to have to watch this in two parts. FYI... History... speaking of Indiana limestone, the Washington Memorial and several other landmark historical buildings in Washington DC the Limestone was mined on the property my grandfather bought in the 1940. It was the old Worsham property. That's why half way up the Washington Memorial the limestone is different. There is a house that stands on the property the walls are over 2 ft thick of the same limestone. Just wanted to share some forgotten history. Thanks again so much for sharing such a great video, really enjoyed the bagpipes!

One of your best ever videos for those of us who love to hear big bells from gothic towers. Have you experienced the great bells across European villages? You gotta do it. As always, Mark you keep raising the bar when it comes to your wonderful videos both in content and subject matter. I have never visited Washington and it is on my bucket list. I'm sure you know this, but this video would be great for the Washington Chamber of Commerce to use on their website (not forgetting WNC) for tourists and people wanting to know what to visit when down that way. I find the bell operation fascinating. Holly must be out in the gardens looking for a cucumber.

    • @Jim-bh7gs

Hi Mark. Where did you learn to be so comfortable and articulate in front of a camera? You make it look easy and it's anything but. The Cathedral is a really amazing building, I am not very religious but it's hard not to be in awe of something so magical. All the best.

The National Cathedral is beautiful - most like an old English cathedral in the US. It took many years to build. Thanks for this incredibly unique tour. Much more than a tour. A lesson in the art of bell tower ringing. As a musician and church soloist for many years, I found this really interesting. It takes an incredible amount of skill and coordination and endurance to make the bells ring and make it sound effortless. Thanks so much! I just wish we could hear the pattern he showed. Was that what you played at the end? One other question, why didn't the bell ring when he pulled the rope?

For all of you who want to hear one of the best recordings of a carillon ever (not this one), find the Mercury Living Presence recording of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. It's here on RUclips in several forms.

History & architecture.....yes, some direction. I love so much and yes, that's something I enjoy very much. Actually, I'm experimenting a little to see if it's accepted with the viewers and also TV is calling in the near future, so I'm feeling my way around seeing what viewers like. Will you follow me to TV if I do a show? I have some really interesting gardens/architectural videos coming up, so watch for them. Private estates and public as well.

Lucky Dog! That's a fantastic privileged tour you had. I love that style of architecture and always have to make a joke about its beautiful flying buttresses. lol The gardens aren't quite as formal or maintained as I'd hoped or expected, but neither is mine. So, who cares, right? Those sets of bells sure are something.

      Hi Wayne!
Lucky dog!....yes, I am! lol I thoroughly enjoyed visiting, filming that! If you haven't visited the cathedral and are ever nearby, try and do it. The film does no justice. Absolutely incredible is how I'd best describe it. The gardens are very nice and more of an informal type and with their wondering multi-level paths work well with the site. The bells.....Standing next to some of them you just can't believe the feeling. A would estimate that some of them had 6 inch walls! Wayne, thanks so much for watching and for commenting too!
You have a great upcoming week!

Beautiful building , But sandstone? I would think it would not be a good building materials. As a child in Kentucky I could bust sandstone easy with a hammer .
Ringing bells one would think it would be more simple.
Thanks for the showing and getting me out of the garden for a brain break,Sir

      Hi Mark!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. As with any video I do, I'm always fighting keeping the length shorter because longer videos just do not get the interest in watching as short ones do, so I find myself having to edit things filmed out. I guess it's our shorter attention spans today! lol If you get the chance, the youtube videos of the organist playing at the National Cathedral are excellent. Mark, thank you for watching and commenting as well.
