Through the eyes of Lloyd Bannings, re-experience the messy political tension and shocking highs of the Crossbell arc as the Special Support Section discovers what it means to protect the things they most cherish.
Beginning with Trails in the Sky FC (First Chapter), the Legend of Heroes franchise has continuously built upon its world and characters over the span of many games. The current series, which is centered on the continent of Zemuria, has 11 titles to its name so far, with 7 that are officially localized in the West.

Just wanted to say thank you for this recap.
My save got wiped partway through the game and I really didn't want to start over.
Honestly this entire series was useful because I’ve just been told over and over that all the games should be played, but I don’t wanna play that many, (maybe one day). But I can finally start on cold steel 3, so thanks for re-uploading these.

I started with Cold Steel, but I feel like I'd get burned out trying to play the whole series. These videos really helped a lot to fill in the gaps of the story from the Liberl and Crossbell arcs, and now hopefully I'll understand the significance of certain cameos and references to previous games.
Same, people will disagree but art is always subjective and you should engage with it in a way that means most to oneself.

One thing that I can't find online that I would absolutely love to see is a compilation of the conversations between Lloyd and Guy based off whoever you picked as your bonding partner.
I made multiple save files to see all of the Merkabah scenes and proceeded with Elie, as that felt the most canon to me, but I didn't realize Guy changes his dialogue based off your partner. He and Lloyd referred to her as Lloyd's special someone, but then I replayed the ending on RUclips because I fell asleep, and that dialogue was more neutral.
Now I want to know what he has to say about Noel, Randy, and everyone else.
Thank you for this, the movement graphics was giving me eye strain so I'm up to date on the story now ahead of Cold Steel 3 :)

I played thru the whole series and still needed to recap. To be honest even if you skip the game and only watch the video you’ll lose the “feels” moment when it comes to certain events and chars in the game. Especially with the memorable music, I would say if you had time to play def try to play before watching a recap.

I started playing cold steel and wanted to go back and zero/azure and sky trilogy but sadly i didn't like the gameplay/presentation/graphics and it felt like step back from cold steel. So this was very helpful.

Man if there is one thing I learned from this game is to trust no one. These people be fake AF. 💀

But why. Why is that the case? She's a god, right? Why doesn't she just...not listen to the people so comically evil they changed their wardrobe to show off how evil they were when they made their grand reveal?
None of this makes any sense.

Okay forget my issues with KeA the literal god being led around like a puppy on a leash, I hate this line; and I absolutely despise the plot Noel and Sonya have in the last act of the game. A soldier does not have carte blanche to just go along with whatever horrific acts they've been told - they have a duty to think and act for themselves. "I was just following orders." Is not a valid defense.
Dieter and grimwood made certain economic moves in advance to make it so that kea had no choice but to listen to them like freezing the bank and using the aions to creating tension of both sides of the border so that kea would have no choice but to keep the barrier up and follow what they wanted to do. Kea is just as smart as Rene but boosted with the casualty power making her see more moves ahead so she knew it was checkmate if she didn't cooperate

@@Zazzaro703 The SSS along with crossbell as a whole. Kea is the Sept terrion of zero which is much stronger than the original Sept terrion of mirage ( hence the invisible barrier and the aions being almost as strong as a divine knight) everything was already put into place so kea would have no choice but share her power with the crois family and oroboros and grimwood. The SSS couldve been wiped out at any time but needed to be allowed to push through since they needed to find kea and set the stage for the phantasmal blaze plan.
To be fair, it's more complex than that. Azure's finale fucks up a LOT and I'm the first one who will say everything that happened after the battle with the Aion should not have happened at all.
But unlike the twist villains, Noel and Sonya DO give a justification for their actions: Crossbell IS in existential danger, and they ARE doing what they feel is the only thing they can do to protect it from the Empire - which we've seen has had zero issues with firing WMDs at the city.
The dialogue could be better, but it was at least consistent. Plus it's not like Dieter had them slaughter innocent civilians or commit atrocities.
KeA going along with Mariabell is ridiculous though. Dieter makes a good argument that she needs to use her powers to protect Crossbell from Erebonia and Calvard. Mariabell has no argument, she's nakedly selfish and egotistical and cares for nobody but herself and her motivations don't even make any sense. That, and she's literally an accomplice to the DG Cult's horrific child abuses - and yet somehow gets to get away scot-free and join Ouroboros alongside with Shirley.
yeah Mariabell joining Ourobors when Ouroboros themselves were also against D:G was weird. but you are right on the Noel and Sonya part it makes sense they did that since The Imperial and Calvard influence stopped them from protecting what they loved. which was Crossbell.@@antonioscendrategattico2302

The philosophy of the finale is so... jumbled. Frankly, there is no argument that can be made against making a world with better circumstances if one has the power to do so. If they wanted to, I could see a way to make an argument against using KeA's power being that it's been tried once before and it ended up with an innocent, all-benevolent and extremely powerful demigoddess being driven to suicide by the impossibility of the task. Rather than pursuing a perfection imposed from above, it would be better to give everyone the chance to come to the conclusion that brotherhood and cooperation among all people is the only way to realizing that world without those unacceptable sorrows and tragedies they pursue.
It was a hard argument to make and it wasn't helped by how excessively powerful they made KeA, but even then it could've been handled WAY better than it was.
Also it makes no goddamn sense that they had Randy reconcile with Sigmund and Shirley. They haven't changed at all, they're still the same psychotic monsters they were at the start of the story and it feels so icky that the narrative treats them as redeemed just because they're nice to Randy now. They weren't in any way nice to those innocent people they slaughtered and they're not the slightest bit remorseful. Hell, they're not even sorry they put Randy through the trauma of becoming a child soldier, yet he forgives them? Fuck you, Falcom, fuck anyone who thinks that forgiving unrepentant abusers is a good thing.

@@stark8363 Especially Sigmund, his role in the story was over and he already had a goddamn heir ready to fill his villainous shoes. Idk if this stupid aversion Falcom have to killing off characters is because apparently some fucking morons whined after Loewe died (because he was literally too powerful to leave alive), but it's really ruined a lot of plotlines in the games after Sky.
