I liked this episode because Vince started to realise he needs to grow up. He never gave a fuck before this. Not reading scripts, spending money, and Ari is right. He didn't even wanna do the first Aquaman. I loved it cuz Ari was being so real with Vince.

Throughout the show, Ari was the one keeping everyone moving it seems. This character was actually the one that was keeping the show entertaining as well.

The show was never about Vince. That's the point. The show really was about Ari and to a lesser extent Drama. Ari was the engine of the show and what made the show work. It's like Seinfeld. The show was never really about Jerry Seinfeld or his character "Jerry." It was about his George, Elaine, and Kramer. That's what made the show great.

Vince wanted to be a great actor but he wanted to live like and be treated like a movie star, that was the problem. There are a lot of actors that don't play the game but they don't want to live in mansions and drive expensive cars and party with models either. They understand that choosing not to play usually means you don't get to have the toys either.

Great scene; i love how although this was somehow based on Mark Whalberg; he was painfully honest about himself; he kinda knows he made it not because he was a great actor (there are hundreds of anonymous people who are better) but because he worked and earned the movie star status; two very different concepts
Great actor, not so much movie star: Phillip Seymour Hoffman (RIP)
Great movie star, not so much as an actor: Paul Walker (RIP)

I wish they would have stayed with this angle for Ari and Vince. Vince's character never seemed to have any arch. Turtle got his business, E got Sloan and Drama got Johnny Bananas. I thought by the end of the tv series they could have had Vince be nominated for a Emmy or something to solidify himself as an actor. Would have also been a nice representation of how he went from a boy to a man throughout the series. Instead they just had Vince get married to some blonde in the last season just to have the marriage be off by the movie.

I agree - that woulda been a great story arch for Vince, gotta wonder if that was the original intent after this scene but perhaps they nixed it due to Adrian not being able to pull off some Emmy winning acting on a show within the show? 🤔

I LOVED this storyline for Vince. I always felt like his arc from season 6 plus was a MASSIVE blunder by the writers. I was really looking forward to seeing Vince and Ari struggle with Vince being a leading man and A-lister in Hollywood. It was like he reached "the top" at the end of season 5 and then he was on easy street. I always felt like the real work should have just begun since they worked for 5 seasons to get him to that level. Almost a "this is what you wanted" kinda thing. It would have been more interesting than a drug problem, fucking Sasha Grey, and randomly getting married in the finale.

Entourage is funny and sharp. Could have had a legacy like Sex and the City (a show that many people considered to be equally as frivolous) if they focus on larger cultural issues within entertainment business while maintaining its sharp and funny voice (and yes Chicks, too, lol). You can still have women parading around as girlfriends, jump-offs and wives and still be "saying something" it doesn't have to shake the world it just has to be truth (i.e. women and the do's and don'ts of dating in a post feminist world... as the characters try to figure out what that means and screw up in the process a la Sex and the City) Jeremy Piven as Ari Gold (and his family members, specially Perry Reeves as his wife, Melissa, and Rex Lee as his assistant turned agent, LLOOOOOYD lol) brought that gravitas to the show. that's why people return, I think (look at all the Ari compilations...I've watched them repeatedly. It's like the only thing people search for about Entourage on YT). that's why I return. The other actors just couldn't swing it...a few tried (I can see the pathos of Johnny Drama thanks to Kevin Dillon and didn't believe Turtle's earnesty until the last 3 seasons (Jerry Ferrara is great at portraying earnesty see him in Power on Starz) ...but a couple couldn't. it's a good show, with great character actors (Billy Walsh played by Rhys Coiro is top notch) but with no legacy.
