I know it’s a peccary because it has tiny little hooves . They’re very dainty legs, like a peccary, too small for a boar. And the background looks like dry scrub, like peccary habitat. It’s a good choice for the anniversary, it’s pretty highly requested.

I think Old Country predicted the wild boar awhile back in his fall DLC speculation video. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was right.

You also kinda have to consider that wild boar usually keep their tail up when running, kinda like warthogs do
that's a possibility but the hind still doesn't match up nor does the mouth shape
With either the boar or javalina, I'd be pretty happy so I don't mind (def prefer the peccary a bit more)

It's a nice choice of animal. But I am a bit disappointed. Because the walk through habitat still have no base game animals. So I was hoping it would be a couple of base game Animals for the walk through habitat. I know it's not the most popular choice. But I just think it could be nice.

Count the toes. In real life , while wild boars have four toes on each foot, two at the front forming a cloven hoof with two toes the back which only touch the ground when walking on soft earth. peccaries on the other hand have four toes on the front feet and on only two functinal toes on the hindfeet. In the clip, it is clearly seen that the swine has four toes on each foot
True but everything else anatomically lines up almost perfectly with a peccary. Frontier has made these mistakes before. I think it's likely this is a Collared Peccary with a second dewclaw where one isn't needed. If it's a wild boar then it has some serious issues, if it's a peccary then it just has 1 minor issue.

If it is a Collared Peccary I would not be dissapointed but I would much, much rather get the Wild Boar since I live in Sweden and they are more common in zoos/wild here and I have seen a lot of them while I have never seen a real life Collared Peccary. But anyway, a new animal in the game is a win in my book.
haha it's like the opposite for me. The only AZA Zoo here with Wild Boars is Minnesota, while Peccaries in general are extremely common in captivity here.
@@OldCountry I do just really want both though haha. If it's still likely to be a clod climate pack we could get peccary now and the boar in the winter pack. Then we would've had 3 pigs this year!

Im not sure if there done making it but the fur quality isn't great compared to the Red River Hog, i definitely think its the Peccary tho

I’ve started thinking that with the addition of the collared peccary as the anniversary animal, that may be a strong hint towards a Latin America animal pack not Alpine/Highlands like everyone is talking about. The reason I say that is because Collared peccaries are not Alpine animals. If it was something like Big Horn Sheep or the Spectacled Bear, that would have been a stronger hint at an Alpine animal pack.

I would prefer the boar, but since last year was a european animal I think that also makes the peccary more likely

I always thought of the rules being that they must be a clone of an existing animal in the game
Both of our current anniversary animals share the same enrichment items and species along with each sharing similar regions with the cloned animal
My guesses would have been these before seeing this reveal 😅...
