Thank you so much for watching! I hope you enjoyed this video. Please leave a comment and let me know what you thought about this Fall Pot Holders tutorial.
Your instructions are very clear and precise, and you have a lovely voice with perfect enunciation, which is so important when teaching. This is such a cute and timely project with which to decorate our kitchens and get ready for fall! You also have such a nice looking family, especially your husband, who looks to be a humorous and fun-loving fellow. Thank you for your wonderful tutorials!
I'm so glad you showed how to do the binding with the loop. I was really struggling to make the loop from the binding. I'm definitely going to try this as I'm sure this will solve my problem. Thank you!!!
I have watched many of your potholder tutorials before and this is my very favorite. You explain and demonstrate the binding well, much better than other people's videos that I have watched (also a lot of those!) Only thing I add is making the batting and backing a little bigger and cutting the extra off before binding, in case it squirms off track while quilting. I have learned how to make good potholders in the last year. Keep up the good tutorial work. Manny is a crack-up! I loved the part on your first mask tutorial where you kind of scolded the people who say they can't sew and you said, "If I can do this with my disabled RIGHT hand, you can do it too!" I loved that because you show you are powerful & persistent and lots of people don't think they can do easy things.
I Love your videos. Easy directions to follow and not a lot of crazy music to distract me. I've made a few of these for friends, Halloween themed and animals.
I bought the same turkey material in EBay. My Joanns in Fort Worth didn’t have that same fabric and I really wanted it. Mine turned out so pretty I am making them for gifts for Fall. I quilted some in brown and some in white. They turned out beautiful!
When I saw your video I was very excited I have the same turkey material the potholders came out great thank you for a wonderful video that was very self-explanatory
Miss Cheryl, I absolutely love all your videos. I also love your husband he is hilarious. Imagine my surprise when he pops up from the corner! I was laughing. On a TV it sounds like he is tapping on the glass. Thanks for all your videos.
@@TheSewingRoomChannel Sherrill, you are going to think I'm crazy. While in the shower, I've decided there has to be a better way to build a shower cap. If you buy an inexpensive one it sits on your head and spins like a bottle, and good ones seem to be hard to find. Not sure about the fabric to use for the lining or the outside. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone making one either and it would be a unique gift. And the last thought would be Sherrill would know.
I really like the way you describe every little thing ... I'm just starting to get back into sewing and this was such a great tutorial that I subscribed ... thanks for sharing
Cute project!! I love how you put the binding on. 💛That closing slide with your husband was hilarious!! I l am really enjoying the editing and new style you're doing on the channel!!
Hi Glenda. The instructions on the Insul-Bright package do not specify which side it should face. I would place it on the side where your hand would hold the pot holder. Stay safe, and happy sewing.
Thank you for a very clearly taught video. Did you use a different color thread in the top and the bobbin for the quilting? What color thread did you use?
Hi Crystal. I cut my binding strips 2 1/2" wide. To speed up the cutting process fold the fabric in half and then cut the strips. Stay safe. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.
Front squares 4 1/2"which 2 are dark 2 are light, Back layer is one 8 1/2" square, binding is strip of fabric 2 3/4 wide by 42" long, you will also need 2 8 1/2" square of batting, or same size one batting, one insul-brite....stitch is standard 1/4" seam allowance.
When i put the loop on at the top in the middle (not in the corner) i have to put it on separately. I never can get it centered any other way. I left another comment on one of your other potholder videos on this same issue. I have trouble connecting the binding. I'm a mess....lol
hello. i have a question. i bought some fall color squars but they are like polyester. can a person pot holders out of them if you are going to make towel holders with it
I tried to make an oversize potholder with binding i found it was so thick my machine was having a hard time sewing through the corners Any tips? Its my first binding project. I'm sure I have a lot to learn.
Hi LAC. Were you using a "walking presser foot"? It helps to move multiple layers of fabric more easily. You can get it from sewingpartsonline.com Just enter your sewing machine brand and model number. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Hi ,I bought the cutter for fabrics from Walmart and brand is fiskars and is heavy duty 60mm ,I don’t know why when I cut the fabrics especially for edges cause shift my fabrics,do you have any recommendations?
Hi Soory. Did you buy the scissors or rotary cutter? If you are using scissors to cut the fabric, make sure you use straight pins to hold the layers of fabric together so they don't move when you are cutting. I like using the rotary cutter to cut my fabrics because the fabric does not shift or move apart. Stay safe, and happy sewing.
The Sewing Room Channel I bought rotary cutter ,when I see your videos, you cut the fabrics only one time when you use your cutter ,mine isn’t like that I have to do it 3 or 4 times to cut it I paid almost 20 dollars for my cutter ,but not working good, you are too have a great weekend 🌹🌺🌺
Hi Alyah. Pot holders and oven mitts should be made out of 100% cotton. You can get cotton batting at Joann Fabrics and Crafts, some Walmart stores, fabric.com, and amazon. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍

Thx do much for this tutorial. I needed the info’ on the binding. Does it matter which way the insulbright is placed?
Hi Glenda. The instructions on the Insul-Bright package do not specify which side it should face. I would place it on the side where your hand would hold the pot holder. Stay safe, and happy sewing.
Love the way of binding the potholders. But, what was the purpose of cutting out the notch in the loop?
Hi Phillis. It is less bulky and makes easier to stitch down. Thanks for watching. Happy sewing. 😍
These are so cute! I love your pot holders. They seem to come out very easy for me. I appreciate you.

I used brown thread on the bottom and orange on top.

If you want to use a fat quarter for binding how do you cut it? Ty i love all ur video. Im new to sewing n you make it look so easy💕

Has anyone tried the wonder clips instead of the pins?
My daughter uses plain old binder clips most of the time. She says they work great.
Hi Maria. Yes, use wonder clips in place of straight pins. Stay safe, and happy sewing.

Hello, I love your colorful pot holders! What is Insobright spelled wrong sorry
Insul-Bright is a synthetic fabric that helps to block the heat penetrating through.
Ok, can I buy it at Joanns?
Yes, you can buy Insul-Bright at JoAnn Fabrics.
