I have referred back to this many times. Excellent tutorial! I do have trouble with the topstitching especially at the corners. You make it look so easy. Thank you!
Love your video. I will watch it again when I construct the pot holders I have cut out. Since I am making mine 4-ply, using two layers of heat proof batting, I cut the fabric a little oversized. Then I cut out the potholder and it has nice even edges. Lots easier than trying to line up four layers. Your video was EXACTLY what I needed to apply the binding and loop. I tried making rounded corners. Didn't work for me. Your method is perfect!! Thank you so much. PS, I just discovered myself how very useful tweezers are when sewing. Now I can't sew without them.
I am sewing some potholders this year, and renembered your video, because I liked very much the way you finish yours. I had forgotten the tweezers tip for the corners, and I think it is a GREAT IDEA 👏🏻👏🏻 Thank you again for a wonderful tutorial 😊 have a happy new year 2023 🎉
Thank you , this is just the thing I need to finish my projects so they look super fab - and the tweezers trick is priceless! Got me to sub with this one - sew happy~
Great binding tutorial-I make pot holders all the time but struggle with machine binding that looks as neat as my hand stitched ones. Will try the tweezer trick. Good job!
I really enjoy watching all of your videos, you are a very good teacher! Thank you so much for taking the time to spread all your knowledge with us, I am hoping to come and visit your shop someday!
Thanks, Terry, great video, always amazing what ideas you can pick up until you watch your tutorials, never knew what to do with those tweezers or my little ironing board, both very useful ideas, and oh yes, beautiful pot holder!
What finished size do you make your potholders and how wide do you cut your bias binding fabric? Thank you for your time and an awesome video tutorial on making potholder with self loops.
Beautiful details like this make something simple and everyday a work of art. You are a wonderful teacher! (And you have the best manicure of all the tutorial givers I've watched!)
Very helpful tutorial. I have some scrap fabric I plan to turn unto pot holders and this is the first (and maybe only) video I will need to demonstrate a loop in the binding. Great tip to use tweezers! I saw a quilt binding tutorial that showed to fold the corners with the edge you are sewing on top - tuck the horizontal edge under - then you have a smooth edge instead of trying to get over the edge of the fold. Hope that makes sense.
I know there are several different binding methods. None of the methods are wrong and some are easier that others. Try them and decide what works the best for you or what suits that project. I have used a variety and have my favorites for different projects. The double folded strip is my favorite, sewn back to front. It is a time factor. Thank you for watching.
I just finished my first potholder using your tutorial. I need to tweak a couple of things but the hanging loop is great! Next one I'll remember (hopefully) to use 2 layers of batting/insul-bright.
When you went to the iron, I was shocked when you put it down and it raised up a little. It threw me. Wish I had had that 50 years ago. The number of things I have ruined because my irons didn't raise up, including a rug when I didn't have an ironing board way back then.
Hi, I really enjoyed this video. Very nice attention to detail. I liked the video being brought in close to see stitching being completed up close. Not kidding about how much I liked this video. I watch and subscribe to allot of quilting activities. Most are fun but not always caring about how straight their seams are or if they are a little off on their points. You do nice work. Thank you.
Great video! Love watching all of your quilting videos and would like to see more. It would be great if you could have one or two each week! Thanks for all the hard work!! 😄😄😄😄
It is our own design and we sell it through the website. Here is a link to check them out. www.junctionfabric.com/shop/Notions/p/Fons-Porter-Quarter-Inch-Seam-Markers-x10075814.htm
Great video! What kind of rotary cutter do u have? I have never seen one like that. And when u was done sewing how much thread did u leave at the needle?

Great video! What kind of rotary cutter do u have? I have never seen one like that. And when u was done sewing how much thread did u leave at the needle?
The iron makes me wonder - is is something on the ironing board that lift the iron up? Or what it is? It would be perfect thing for me :)
Do you have a pattern for your star pot holder? Love your binding technique but I am getting tired of 9 squares, need a change. My thanks, Pat
The first time I've ever seen the technique with tweezers. I've struggled with potholders for a long time. They're harder than they look.
Try with tweezers, it works wonderful.
great video....made it look sooooo easy :)
Jan Trunzo Thank you.
I will definitely try this technique! Thanks.
Dot Freel Your welcome.

Hi, what is your measurement on the bias fabric
I love your classes. Can you tell mewhich Baby Lock are you using? I have one in need of update. Thank you
I sew on the Crescendo.
Are you using bias binding? And how wide did you cut it? Thanks.
I only use bias binding when I have a curve. I use mostly 2 1/2 inch strips.
How wide is the binding
2 1/2 inches
Hi Terie. I am interesting about your video and can I ask how Much is your Sewing machine that you are using.
Juliet Lee M.S.R.P. is $1,799.00 If you are interested please call us and we can discuss an in house special.
My country is in the philippines

That is the Melody by Babylock. The model is discontinued but they do have an equivalent.
Love your tutorial, what kind of cutter did you used, the one you wrap on your hand, when can I find it? Thanks

This tutorial helped me figure out how to make my potholder bias tape look more finished on the ends. Thank you. craftedforyougoods@etsy
You are so welcome!
Do not understand how your folding the binding in the corners as you attach it relates to the whole business
@junctionfabric. Your hand hides what you did and so not exactly clear.
great tutorial...don't like the nails...sorry....
That's ok
How wide is the binding
2.25 inches wide
