I've been so confused as of lately, well I have for quite awhile now, actually. Despite this confusion I settled for soft natural. But lately I felt like I'm not as "womanly" or as broad and big as soft naturals, if this makes any sense (?) They have this sexiness to them and they look so womanly and i don't feel like that at all. Awhile ago, when I thought I was a soft gamine, I bought a turtle neck, and it made me feel a bit restricted, it was elastic and tight around the neck, and a bit loose on the arms. As high necks are supposed to be apart of soft gamines lines, and it didn't feel right on me, that was what made me be think I was a soft natural, apart of some broadness and a somewhat athletic physique. However I've noticed some tops that have high necklines look good on me! You know that tip for soft naturals, instead of halter tops (I guess this is their name, the ones that don't have cleavage and have no straps) wear v neck tops with larger straps? I don't look bad in the later, however I look better in the first. Wearing v necks makes me feel like a mom (?), not in a way that looks good on me. Now I'm exploring, I guess fabrics play a Huge part on how clothing looks and I haven't looked much into them. I have got to explore what works for my body more instead of following a types lines because I think I am that type. This video made me realize that I might be a soft gamine after all! Aly, would you consider telling my my body type if I emailed photos of myself? I would be so grateful because I have no idea which type I could be at this point. I'm happy to pay generously for the service. Thanks so much for considering.
I am 5'4 and everyone knows it! I always thought I was taller until I measured myself recently. My slightly sharp (but still youthful) bone structure and fleshy body have been throwing me off this whole time. If you've seen me commenting on heaps of these videos, forgive me - I was confused! _This_ is my body type!
I couldn't take the quiz it was way confusing. I just read through the descriptions and narrowed it down to 3 likely types and then looked at the things that ruled them out. I had it narrowed to "soft gamine" "romantic" and "theatrical romantic." I realize I'm soft gamine but I think i can borrow *on occasiom* from the other two, within limits. I think eliminating the "definitely not me's" and going from there was WAAAY easier than trying to take that weird test and figure out what shape my shoulders were and how fleshy I am.
Reese Witherspoon the whole video! I liked it more when there were many different examples, it explains much more. Also would love to see a video for male kibbe types comparison from you :)
Agreed! I was excited for this one, wanted to see some Halle Berry, Natalie Wood........the guy part too. Right now I'm particularly obsessed with bo Burnham's headsize vs shoulder width.
As I was leaving a club someone started singing the barbie song, and I laughed and told them I was skipper, and barbie my sister would be right out, and they looked confused until my bestie came outside, and we looked alot alike, but shes taller, leggy, more womanly looking, and the people all in unison sang the barbie song to my friend 🤣 She was the one who nicknamed me skipper.
I think I’m SG but I don’t look like the typical SG’s she shows here…I don’t have a large head or large eyes. These are some of the things that keep confusing me when I read descriptions about the types. I’m sure someone might tell me I’m being too specific but why is it a factor if it doesn’t matter?
1.Wide and blunt bones vs wide and soft bones 2.Irregular facial contour vs doll like facial contour 3.Presences of massive upper torso vs presence of overall wideness 4.Free spirited vs fun spirited(my discovery😋) 5.Presence of slight & visible musculature vs absence of visible musculature 6.Width is more noticeable vs Petiteness is more noticeable (under ideal weight) 7.Looks good in loosely tailored, free, flowing clothes vs looks off in loose flowing clothes 8.colour blocking looks cartoonish vs colour blocks brings character 9.height petite usually under 5'5" Vs height moderate to slightly small upto 5'7" I will bring you more points if I happened to find☺
I'm petite. I have flat bust line but curvy hip line and definite waistline. My arms, legs, hands and feet are longish. So I am stuck in between gamine and soft gamine.
I'm still inbetween SG and FG (I think I'm pure G, but can't tell to which side I lean more). I have elongated arms and narrow bones, soft flesh and defined waist. I gain weight evenly and my face gets very puffy. I'm also very small, 1,55m (about 5'1). 🤷♀️
I'm stuck between soft gamine and natural. I'm 5'0, slight hourglass, broad shoulders muscular yet fleshy. Short arms and legs, small hand and feet. Square jaw, sharp nose. Look strong, have childish, playful and fiery essence. Can anyone help?
I think you're soft gamine, as you are (like myself) too petite. Sometimes, I also feel like I could be some other type, but because we're very short, we'll always have that teenage/gaminish look. I often get mistaken for a teenager, even though I'm in my twenties - maybe that's a good teller, do people assume you are younger?
That's very true! I got that conclusion based on your description of short arms and legs, fleshness with some pontual angularity - jaw and nose. Very soft gamine. The younger thing is more an essence perception than only heightness. I believe people do not only perceive our height, but also our essence and that's what is "younger". Also, I do not know of any examples of short naturals. All of this is just my opinion, though!! I hope you can find out your type soon and use this information for your avantage, best of luck 💕✨
Thank you very much for this video. I wish you would have used another example that Reese Witherspoon, is Natalie Portman soft gamine? You should have used her.
I am a Soft Gamine I think. I have large breast 34 DD but I used to be a 32G. It was alot especially for my frame. I saw people not wanting to get large breast implants because they are petite. They were very heavy.
I feel like I'm soft gammine i have a round face, cheeky grin, I'm fleshy busty and short but I'm also quite strong (stocky legs) so it gets confusing! But overall i think yes I'm SG. I have more of a waist if I'm not overweight. But SG will never look like FN models no matter how thin we try to be. Just be yourself.
Thank you very much. I'm sure that I'm a soft gamine now. Before this, I was 90% sure I was a soft gamine, but then had some suspicions that I was maybe a theatrical romantic or a soft natural. I guess shoulders are key to differentiating between the three for me. I don't have broad shoulders at all, but I do have some sharpness, which did confuse me for a bit. I don't have broad shoulders like a soft natural like Shakira, J-Lo, or Billie Eilish would, but my shoulders aren't soft like Salma Hayak or Selena Gomez either.
I think figured out at least the difference between the soft gamine and the theatrical romantic. Soft gamine is balanced from shoulder to waist. The collar bones will always be more pronounced. While both are curvey, there is a difference in the hips and bust. The soft gamine is small busted with more width and curve to the hips and muscular thighs. Theatrical romantics are narrow and have heavier thighs with less hip width. They also have large bust, so they are double curvey. The body forms a figure eight.
No matter how many videos I watch, I still can't tell whether I'm a TR, or SG. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it omg: I'm 4'11 (151 cm), very short vertical line, soft and fleshy upper arms and thighs, defined waist despite being overweight, proportional and rounded bust and hips. Small but wide hands and feet. Slightly narrow and rounded shoulders, but still a hint of angularity. My face has a solid mix of yin and yang. Small, slightly rounded eyes that are close together, softly rounded and straight nose, high and fairly prominent cheekbones, defined jaw but not overly wide, rounded chin, and proportional upturned lips, not full or thin, but with a very sharp cupids bow. Sorry that was so long but if someone thinks I fit one better than the other based on that description then let me know 😅😅😅
This is excellent with all of the examples and comparison. Even though I think I might be SG I still “feel” like SN because I am quite muscular. Other videos suggest I might be a soft gamine with a natural essence. Is it possible that I am on the cusp of two different types? My face is not quite doll like and my head. It’s small compared to my shoulders. My jaw is not as square as a soft natural, and I have sharper more dramatic eyes than the doll like gamine. I would even go as far as saying I’m a mixed soft gamine with SN lines.
Do you have any yang features? Soft gamine is a juxtaposition of yin and yang with a bit more yin. Soft classics are balanced features with a bit of yin. So a SG will have some features that are more yang, whereas SC won't, because she's mostly balanced.
Classics are always blended and gamines are a mixture. Do you have many classic features? If there's just a few, take them out of consideration and only consider the other features, since classic features do not influence the balance.
@@carolinesa91 I have all SG characteristics, I'm not blended and is clear to see, but because im in the top heigt limit I'm always wondering :C It's quite rare to see a 5'5" SG so I'm always with the imposter syndrome xD
I’m so struggling to figure this out! I’m 4’9” and range from 90-100 lbs but shoulders are the widest part of me and I have almost no waste definition. I’m very often compared to a little girl. I’m a mom of 2 and I’m 26. People think I’m literally 12 haha! I think I kind of closely resemble Hayden p’s body shape but my nose is a bit round and broad. Not really angular. Hayden Panettiere Haley Berry Riese Witherspoon Mary Kate Olsen Ashley Olsen Lucy Hale Betty Davis Ertha Kit Winona Ryder Sarah Hyand Isla Fisher Anna kendrick
I think small eyes shouldn't rule out certain types/ essences that always have large eyes as traits (e.g romantic, gamine, ingenue, etc). After all, some large eyes look fierce, and some small eyes look soft and sweet. Sandy Lam - a HK singer with small eyes and looked doll-like, pulled off gamine looks very well.
I am 160 cm or 5'3. I really thought i was soft gamine but i feel i have large hands and feet for my height Size 8 american shoe size.Alot of my same height friends have tiny feet and hands. Usually people online say SG have small and wide hands and feet. But mine are long. So i suppose I am still figuring it out. I also am 31 and people often think i am 10 years younger
I'm driving myself crazy trying to figure out what I am. I feel I'm soft gamine but every gest I take comes back romantic but some romantic lines I can't wear and some soft gamine lines I can't wear. Maybe I'm flamboyant gamine...
I have struggled so much with my body type for years as I am romantic by all criteria, but I am obese and 41, so I don't feel like recommendations for Romantics suit me. I've reviewed all your videos and many more so many times, and still, I struggle to understand the style that suits older and bigger Romantics. I've checked all other soft types, though, and it doesn't fit the criteria - I am 160 cm, and I've never had anything yan in my body or face - round eyes, nose, lips, face, chin, no angularity ever, soft limbs, small but roundish feet, and hands. I also wouldn't say I look girlish or boyish at least in my size and age. Totally confused and never found recommendations for older and bigger Romantics on the internet )
Aly I saw you typing priyanka chopra as soft natural but she is more likely to be SD her born structure is not wide or prominent but she very voluptuous and curve dominant than frame dominant Same thing with sonam kapoor another Bollywood actress she is typed as SD but she is actually more length dominant person and dry. She is often criticised for lack of sensuality which b- wood actress usually have she is likely to be D or curvy FN I wish you would reconsider both of them
I see PC typed as SD a lot but tbh I think she's more of a SN- if you look at her face and body, she's definitely curvy and has a voluptuous figure as you said but she does not look tall, she looks more moderate in height and she doesn't really have sharpness, her features look more softly blunt and wide as opposed to sharp and narrow. I agree with Sonam being more D and FN as opposed to SD but I see why she's typed as SD- her face looks pretty SD like but overall she definitely has more yang
@@adrijamajumdar1856 if her picture is placed with any other SN celebs you would find a lot of dissimilarities but when she is compared to any SD celeb like sofia Vergara, Monica belluci or rachel weiz there won't be any major differences She has sharp &narrow bone structure you could see that when she is slim
@@durgaambika4342 Still unsure about PC so I guess we'll have to agree to disagree because I still think she's more blunt than sharp and wide than narrow but I guess that just shows how subjective trying to categorise features can be. I definitely agree with you on Sonam though- SD just doesn't really make sense and I think it's the big eyes that throw people off but I can't say for sure because she always looked more yang ish to me. Have a nice day!

I'm still very confused if I'm SC or SG. I'm average in height and I don't look petite or delicate or small, but many people have told me I look good in SG lines- soft, crisp lines, and color blocking w/ patterns...
Aly, how would you describe Lucy Liu? Would you consider her as SG or in the G family? I've seen her typed as DC but I think she's more petite than the DC category. Thanks for this video, very helpful as a SG!

Hi Aly. I was watching a video and she said that Theoretical Romantics are very rare. Alot of people who think they are Theoretical Romantics are actually Soft Gamines. Now I am very confused because I've done the body test a couple of times and through the process of elimination the only type I can be is Theoretical Romantic. I don't look or feel like any Gamine. I also read that the height has been removed from body typing. I can't understand how this could be accurate. What is the latest knowledge that you have about height? Thanks.

I keep typing as an SG, but I think most SG styles look terrible on me. I don't have the youthful energy that gamines are supposed to have, so oversized details just look silly on me. When I wear short dresses I look like I'm wearing little girl clothes, but I look good in short shorts. My hands and feet are rather large for my size and I don't feel that my arms and legs look short, in fact I think my legs look long, even though I'm 5'4". I don't look doll-like. I think I keep typing as SG bc I'm slightly overweight and I've gained in my hips and chest.
I think my Mom could be a soft gamine. I am not sure I am even right about myself though so not too confident on that. I do not think I’m a soft gamine. At one time I thought I could be a flamboyant gamine but now I think I’m a soft natural. Then I wonder if I am correct that I’m a soft natural, could my Dad be the male version of a soft natural? What were my maternal and paternal grandmothers?

Aly, would you consider telling my my body type if I emailed photos of myself? I would be so grateful because I have no idea which type I could be at this point. I'm happy to pay generously for the service. Thanks so much for considering.
I am 5'4 and everyone knows it! I always thought I was taller until I measured myself recently. My slightly sharp (but still youthful) bone structure and fleshy body have been throwing me off this whole time. If you've seen me commenting on heaps of these videos, forgive me - I was confused! _This_ is my body type!
This is the video I’ve been waiting for!
Yay this has helped me confirm I'm a soft gamine 😊
Awesome content and very good production as usual! ❤ I was hoping to see a "type" reveal in this one but it's fine! I'll be waiting :3
I found it somewhat funny, Reese Witherspoon seems to know so many different people that you can make a whole comparison video just based on her :)
Been waiting forever for this video
I still don’t know if i am SG,FG or TR…
As I was leaving a club someone started singing the barbie song, and I laughed and told them I was skipper, and barbie my sister would be right out, and they looked confused until my bestie came outside, and we looked alot alike, but shes taller, leggy, more womanly looking, and the people all in unison sang the barbie song to my friend 🤣
She was the one who nicknamed me skipper.
I think I’m SG but I don’t look like the typical SG’s she shows here…I don’t have a large head or large eyes. These are some of the things that keep confusing me when I read descriptions about the types. I’m sure someone might tell me I’m being too specific but why is it a factor if it doesn’t matter?
SN is kinda like a bigger, taller, more muscular version of SG from what I've heard. I'm no expert but maybe look at SN
Most awaited video😃
Don't you think Christina Richie is actually soft gamine mistyped by David kibbe himself.
I think so too! Her eyes are huge! And her forehead... she looks like a baby.
Aly, please, do a style review of a modern celebrity that is soft gamine!
Finally I am able to understand! Thank you so much!!!
I am pretty sure I am soft gamine but I don't have short arms, for sure. I guess it might be different for everyone?
I love your videos! the comparisons are the best wayto learn. I am preparing this as a acrttivity to a girl trip
Thank you from fellow soft gamine
I'm still unable to differentiate SG to SN...
1.Wide and blunt bones vs wide and soft bones
2.Irregular facial contour vs doll like facial contour
3.Presences of massive upper torso vs presence of overall wideness
4.Free spirited vs fun spirited(my discovery😋)
5.Presence of slight & visible musculature vs absence of visible musculature
6.Width is more noticeable vs Petiteness is more noticeable (under ideal weight)
7.Looks good in loosely tailored, free, flowing clothes vs looks off in loose flowing clothes
8.colour blocking looks cartoonish vs colour blocks brings character
9.height petite usually under 5'5" Vs height moderate to slightly small upto 5'7"
I will bring you more points if I happened to find☺
@@durgaambika4342 no. 6 is eye opening. Thank you for the detailed info! They're easy to understand 😄
@@durgaambika4342 most of these are stereotypes.
I’m still confused whether or not I’m a R or SG because I have like broad shoulders but smaller hips that aren’t very round but still roundish
I think I don’t know how to perceive myself
OMG i think i finally found my body type 😭
Sounds like a SG to me but dont be afraid to borrow from other gamine lines
Seems flumboyant gamine to me
Gurl ive been waiting for this
Who is the vintage picture of at 0:45? She looks exactly like me!!
Bette Davis
Aly has a video describing her body type and style
I just took the test. I came out as soft gamine, but I'm 5'7" 1/2. I'm a bit tall, but I have the traits of a soft gamine.
@@rafaelaamaral858 Yes. I'm 34 mistaken for early 20s. Having said that, I'm pretty sure other types can be short too? Hmm
@@rafaelaamaral858 No that was very insightful. Thanks a million for stopping by and sharing with me :)
Definitely soft gamine 🙏
I'm none of them 🤪 I still find it very interesting though
Thank you very much for this video. I wish you would have used another example that Reese Witherspoon, is Natalie Portman soft gamine? You should have used her.
Love you Aly❤️
4:03 - 4:46 & 7:49 - 8:24 are probably the most important segments of this video.
I agree with everything you said, except that the woman who was represented as a classic in the beginning compared to SG I believe is a DC, not a C.
Love you aly!
All I know is that I’m built like my dad
I think figured out at least the difference between the soft gamine and the theatrical romantic. Soft gamine is balanced from shoulder to waist. The collar bones will always be more pronounced. While both are curvey, there is a difference in the hips and bust. The soft gamine is small busted with more width and curve to the hips and muscular thighs. Theatrical romantics are narrow and have heavier thighs with less hip width. They also have large bust, so they are double curvey. The body forms a figure eight.
whoever is reading this, i hope you have a great day. God loves you
No matter how many videos I watch, I still can't tell whether I'm a TR, or SG. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it omg:
I'm 4'11 (151 cm), very short vertical line, soft and fleshy upper arms and thighs, defined waist despite being overweight, proportional and rounded bust and hips.
Sorry that was so long but if someone thinks I fit one better than the other based on that description then let me know 😅😅😅
For so long I thought I was TR but now I feel like I'm actually SG :D
This is excellent with all of the examples and comparison. Even though I think I might be SG I still “feel” like SN because I am quite muscular. Other videos suggest I might be a soft gamine with a natural essence.
Is it possible that I am on the cusp of two different types? My face is not quite doll like and my head. It’s small compared to my shoulders. My jaw is not as square as a soft natural, and I have sharper more dramatic eyes than the doll like gamine.
I would even go as far as saying I’m a mixed soft gamine with SN lines.
Still struggling between soft gamine and soft classic. Have pretty much ruled out the others though.
Me too! They're so similar if you take off the "essence/vibe"
Try out both styles and find which gives you more confidence(within you and from outside) ☺
@@carolinesa91 I have all SG characteristics, I'm not blended and is clear to see, but because im in the top heigt limit I'm always wondering :C It's quite rare to see a 5'5" SG so I'm always with the imposter syndrome xD
Thanks for sharing this. Love your videos.
I'm not sure if I am a Soft Gamine or a Soft Natural.
My height is 154 cm.
I’m in the same boat. I have features of both
@@nich9356 Thanks, then probably I'm soft natural! I am almost hourglass shape, but my shoulders are a bit wider than my hips
Благодарю! Наконец-то я определилась.. 😄
I can not figure it out for the life of me!! I do find it easier to look at others who I know and guess their type. Crazy how that works haha
I would appreciate it if anyone could list all the soft gamines shown here !😁

Riese Witherspoon
Mary Kate Olsen
Ashley Olsen

Please can you do videos on secondaries as I have a mix that doesn't fit any single type.
Can soft gamine have small eyes as well? I am Polish but some say my eyes look small and slightly Asian (Mongolian)
I still don't know if I'm a soft classic or soft gamine :(
Same!!!!
Thank you for this video!
I am 160 cm or 5'3. I really thought i was soft gamine but i feel i have large hands and feet for my height
Size 8 american shoe size.Alot of my same height friends have tiny feet and hands. Usually people online say SG have small and wide hands and feet. But mine are long. So i suppose I am still figuring it out. I also am 31 and people often think i am 10 years younger
Thank you fr a SG
I'm driving myself crazy trying to figure out what I am. I feel I'm soft gamine but every gest I take comes back romantic but some romantic lines I can't wear and some soft gamine lines I can't wear. Maybe I'm flamboyant gamine...
Great video
Would eva longria fall in this category?
What do you mean my “dry” when referring to a classic?
Not soft, not that fleshy.
Trim?
Question..can someone have some traits of a SG (for ex. the height ) and FG ( ex quite square and broad shoulders) mixed together or not?
Yep. There are no lower height limits!
Aly I saw you typing priyanka chopra as soft natural but she is more likely to be SD her born structure is not wide or prominent but she very voluptuous and curve dominant than frame dominant
Same thing with sonam kapoor another Bollywood actress she is typed as SD but she is actually more length dominant person and dry. She is often criticised for lack of sensuality which b- wood actress usually have she is likely to be D or curvy FN
I wish you would reconsider both of them
I see PC typed as SD a lot but tbh I think she's more of a SN- if you look at her face and body, she's definitely curvy and has a voluptuous figure as you said but she does not look tall, she looks more moderate in height and she doesn't really have sharpness, her features look more softly blunt and wide as opposed to sharp and narrow.
I agree with Sonam being more D and FN as opposed to SD but I see why she's typed as SD- her face looks pretty SD like but overall she definitely has more yang
@@adrijamajumdar1856 if her picture is placed with any other SN celebs you would find a lot of dissimilarities but when she is compared to any SD celeb like sofia Vergara, Monica belluci or rachel weiz there won't be any major differences
She has sharp &narrow bone structure you could see that when she is slim
@@adrijamajumdar1856 sonam face is soft and angular but doesn't have exotic or lush features .Angularity & sharpness is projected more
@@durgaambika4342 Still unsure about PC so I guess we'll have to agree to disagree because I still think she's more blunt than sharp and wide than narrow but I guess that just shows how subjective trying to categorise features can be. I definitely agree with you on Sonam though- SD just doesn't really make sense and I think it's the big eyes that throw people off but I can't say for sure because she always looked more yang ish to me. Have a nice day!
Can you please do a video on what colors look good on peachy- golden skin tones? I am a c4 on Mac studio fix fluid foundation. I want to get hilights but I want to get something that will brighten my skin color and cancel the bit of peachyness that I have going on.
I think i might be soft classic with some romantic mixed in but more soft classic think?
I'm still very confused if I'm SC or SG. I'm average in height and I don't look petite or delicate or small, but many people have told me I look good in SG lines- soft, crisp lines, and color blocking w/ patterns...
I don't think that many of the examples you showed really has short-looking arms and legs except Reese Witherspoon.
Aly, how would you describe Lucy Liu? Would you consider her as SG or in the G family? I've seen her typed as DC but I think she's more petite than the DC category. Thanks for this video, very helpful as a SG!
Hey dear aly ❤️ thank you so much for your amazing content ! Is it possible to be 168 cm and be a soft gamine? I have delicate hands & feet, thicker upper thighs , tapered and sharp shoulders … also the face features are 100% me 🤔🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🔎 I first thought im a soft classic but the shoulders & chest were too wide
I am having a similar issue as it seems very like me, especially in the face, but I am over 170cm and have big hands and feet so i'm not completely sure if I am or not.
Can a soft classic be petite, 5'3? Can a soft gamine not be angular?
Kibbe has listed several soft classics that are 5'3" and under. Olivia DeHavilland, Joan Fontaine, Norma Shearer and Merle Oberon are some examples.
I would like to know your body type please
De'collatage 💐
Thanks.
Good video! I find it hard to figue out what I am, I am short and not curvy but slight waist definition with a youthful face. I´m 158 cm, but a lot of people think I´m taller, maybe 165 cm and sometimes even taller. What body type do you guys think I could have? :)
@alyart what body type is keira knightley?
I’m stuck between soft gamine and romantic. I am either 5’5 or 5”6, I have a round chubby face, small eyes, sharp nose (with the bottom rounded), and my lips are round but slightly sharp on my upper lip (cupids bow). I also have rounded shoulders, narrow hips, large hands and am a size 8 (U.S). I’m so confused, can anyone help? 🤔
I keep going between TR, R and SG I'm sooo lost
I keep typing as an SG, but I think most SG styles look terrible on me. I don't have the youthful energy that gamines are supposed to have, so oversized details just look silly on me. When I wear short dresses I look like I'm wearing little girl clothes, but I look good in short shorts. My hands and feet are rather large for my size and I don't feel that my arms and legs look short, in fact I think my legs look long, even though I'm 5'4". I don't look doll-like. I think I keep typing as SG bc I'm slightly overweight and I've gained in my hips and chest.
I'm 5ft kinda fleshy but have long arms n legs. So which am I??
I think my Mom could be a soft gamine. I am not sure I am even right about myself though so not too confident on that. I do not think I’m a soft gamine. At one time I thought I could be a flamboyant gamine but now I think I’m a soft natural. Then I wonder if I am correct that I’m a soft natural, could my Dad be the male version of a soft natural? What were my maternal and paternal grandmothers?
