IMO this is the best fight scene I've seen him do. The music does a brilliant job of selling it - it feels like an adrenaline rush the whole time right up until the very end. What's remarkable is that no one gets hurt in the end - both parties are actually somewhat apologetic.
I remember a 6th Grade English assignment that I had to do: I had to write a "friendly letter" to a celebrity. I wrote a list of why Jackie Chan is fucking awesome and mailed it to his address.

It's scenes like these that remind us why Jackie Chan is the king of the Improbable Weapons users. For Jackie, Vase>Fists Chair>Knife Table>Sword Ladder>Gun
One of the reasons I love this fight (and so many of Jackie's other fights) is that he avoids the cliche of "hero's enemies attack one-at-a-time while the rest stand around and look menacing". In Jackie's fights everyone comes at him all at once, which is what would happen in real life. (Okay, so maybe that's the ONLY thing about Jackie's fights that would happen in real life, but work with me here!)
jackie chan is my hero. his movies are perfect, not too ott or too funny. he achieves a perfect balance between realism and comedy. GO JACKIE!!!! i hope he makes a rush hour 4
Yup, if you watch the movie I think either during the credits or in an extra feature on the DVD, it shows him jumping through it a time or two and hitting it wrong. painful stuff.
In practically every movie I've ever seen him in, he both pleads with his attackers and hurts his hands. You're guaranteed to hear "No!" and "Ow!" in a Jackie Chan movie.
one of my favorite fight scenes of all time. and from his movies, I believe Jackie's been doing parkour way before David Bell (could be wrong, too lazy to check) or Casino Royale. he just didn't have a name for it.
First of all am I the only one who feels that this outfit is a tribute to Brice Lee's motorcycle suite in game of death? And second of all, the hit at 3:07 is SO AWESOME BRUTAL
Spiderman0816 - You should watch Jackie's film called Police Story, it has some crazy stunts! Keeping in mind he did them all himself without blue screen...
it shows you the out-takes at the end of the film ... and there is more of the ladder scene than anything else.... done some serious damage to his face/head at one point.
I love his old movies, where u can see all the action... These days, the hollywood movies he makes has too many camera angles. You cannot see all these old fashion action!
54 today :((( but we must be happy anyway , because he still living legend wit hthe real things he dose and leg hits + he will direct the Armour of God 3 !
jrodarz: Cheez, they're talking about JC as a legend RIGHT NOW! I remember seeing 'First Strike' in the Cinema with the Wife & we were both FLOORED by the action---we thought to ourselves: HOW can He fight guys with a ladder? Yet...amazingly enough-He DOES! As my wife says: 'Look out-Jackie has PROPS!'
SICK! I wish Jackie would get back into this style of choreography rather than his comedic stuff. I think he STILL has it in him to a certain degree! C'mon Jacko! Wow us again!
Jackie has even said Bruce is the best. Just Jackie knows how to entertain with his martial arts and stunts. 58 he'll be this year, still doing his own stunts. Bruce is where he started,. Stunt doubles for a whole bunch of guys in Lees films. Never for bruce cause he was his own stuntman. So look at where Jackie got his inspiration. Theyre both amazing
No, they are actually lion heads. A dragon head is held up on a stick and has a long body that is manned by several people. A lion head is worn by one person while the cloth body is draped over a second person, much like a pantomime horse.
Jackie Chan would be invincible if he ever got in a fight in a Home Depot.
NumPad I'd pay to see that in a new Jackie Chan movie.
Or in a bar
Shame that he would be less dangerous at a Lowe's
Absolutely incredible, I've never seen a better choreographed fight scene.
IMO this is the best fight scene I've seen him do. The music does a brilliant job of selling it - it feels like an adrenaline rush the whole time right up until the very end.
What's remarkable is that no one gets hurt in the end - both parties are actually somewhat apologetic.
I got say two things
1. I got this movie free with a Pizza
2. This is Jackie's best movie
this movie and rumble in the bronx are my favorite jackie chan movies.
Man, we were raised on this in 90s..this was our milk n cookies
Man the way jackie was swinging that ladder was sick one of my favorite jackie fight scenes
The ladder has to be one of my favorite Jackie Chan scenes of all time.
dis is by far jackie's best prop fight scene of his career!
I remember a 6th Grade English assignment that I had to do: I had to write a "friendly letter" to a celebrity. I wrote a list of why Jackie Chan is fucking awesome and mailed it to his address.
Haha I love how at 3:15 Jackie throws the ladder to the floor, and in the very next scene he's taking a dive through a fully upright ladder

For Jackie,
Vase>Fists
Chair>Knife
Table>Sword
Ladder>Gun
I remember watching at the end of his movies all the scenes where he got hurt. It made you appreciate the action sequences so much more
a nice gesture from Mr. Jackie Chan, the color of his outfit and the dragon head.
I completly agree with you. I hate when there about 20 dudes and only 1 to 3 guys come at a time and the rest just stand there.
God forbid Jackie ever get his hands on a purposefully built weapon. It would take an army to stop him! XD
I think I just broke the replay button...
and this is why jackie is the best at fight action!
Jackie Chan is the only one alive that can make Chuck Norris flinch.
this is the greatest thing i have ever seen.
This is like my favorite fight scene by Jackie Chan EVER!!
Jackie Chan : always fighting with random stuff X3 ah but that's one reason why I love him
I need to show this video to every DM whenever I play as a monk and explain how a ladder counts a finesse weapon.
Thumbs up if James Rolfe the AVGN brought u here ;D, I mean really who fights with a ladder? Apparently Jackie Chan does! This scene rocks!
This is definitely one of my favorite fights.
Wow, jackie chan is like my idol man , his stunts are awesome
The first movie I saw with Jackie Chan and got me to love him, the fighting scenes, this one in perticular, are awesome!
One of the reasons I love this fight (and so many of Jackie's other fights) is that he avoids the cliche of "hero's enemies attack one-at-a-time while the rest stand around and look menacing". In Jackie's fights everyone comes at him all at once, which is what would happen in real life. The yellow and black combo must be homage to bruce lee's last movie.
I've got to watch this again.
R.I.P. Bruce.
Love it when he's fighting with the Al... Alun... Alumn.... .the ladder!
Saw this movie many many years ago. Don't remember a thing about what the story was, but remember this fight like I watched it just yesterday.
This was the first Jackie Chan movie I saw, and it's still one of my favourite.
I love this scene . one of my favs. Jackie is a modern day ninja
Good god, the choreography in this scene is insane.
i love the way he choreographs fights and uses objects
Jackie is so goddamn funny. That's what makes him special from the rest, hahaha. And that prop use, jesus!
This scene ranks among his best EVER!
I miss Jackie Chan already... R.I.P. Brother..
easily in his top three fight scenes..
2:47 that's what you get when you hire Chuck Norris to BUILD LADDERS
Thanks sj504. I´ve totally forgot to check it out. DO you know if he has the guiness record still?
I love the bit with the ladder. Especially how he trapped that guy in it at 3:12
@iandotcom oh okay...i still don't see it as a funeral but i haven't seen this movie in so long so i forgot what happened. thanks for clearing it up.
jackie chan is my hero. his movies are perfect, not too ott or too funny. he achieves a perfect balance between realism and comedy. GO JACKIE!!!! i hope he makes a rush hour 4
Long before Michael Jackson died, all my life, I've wanted to see Jackie Chan and Michael Jackson together.
I have this bookmarked. Whenever anyone asks me why I am a Jackie Chan fan, I show them this scene.
And they understand.
Great movie!
Ha ha ha great fight scene and Jackie knows when to quit....
*More people arrive*
Chan: Shit......
*Sits on ladder and shrugs*
If jackie was in the wwe, he'd win all the hardcore and MITB matches!
For all the WoW players out there, I just wanted to point out jackie chan is a prot warrior who stacks dodge and parry rating
I like how Jackie improvises weapons with whatever is lying around
That's his specialty.
I love the way he mixes action with comedy.
awesome video
Best ending to a fight scene ever.
1:47 damn hes got some serious hops!!
yeah i agree with you, the ladder bit is my favorite 2.
0:21 Did that guy also appeard in rumble in the bronx?
Jackie chan w/ ladder = invincible
nobody fucks with him.
I love how Jackie Chan's fighting is all self preservation, like he dosen't just automatically goes and kicks someone ass, unless he's pissed off.
He use a ladder, sticks, tables, everything who will make a damn good movie!
The best fight of Jackie Chan!
The part that amazes me is when he flips the ladder really fast and then catches it with his head in between the steps. He makes it look so easy.
Yup, if you watch the movie I think either during the credits or in an extra feature on the DVD, it shows him jumping through it a time or two and hitting it wrong. painful stuff.
Never knew a ladder could be so deadly...and so cool as a weapon :D
u ain't liein about that man an thats why he's my favorite martial artist
never gets old
Jackie Chan is the only guy in the world who turn any item into a lethal weapon
I am trying to find another scene from this same movie when Jackie is on the rooftop.
Jackie Chan..... is the Universal Master of flawless awsome fighting...
you know if Jackie's style of fighting what do you think it would be called? I was thinking of Flea Style or Rei-Tree-Ting XD
2:12
In practically every movie I've ever seen him in, he both pleads with his attackers and hurts his hands. You're guaranteed to hear "No!" and "Ow!" in a Jackie Chan movie.
I love this fight scene.
wow this is my favorite prop fight ever
Really? What style of karate? I'm curious to know...I love the martial arts very much. If you happen to know, please tell me.
Even people and himself! =D Awesome!!!
that freaking ladder dude! LOL it was kool
jackie chan is the greatest, I love the comedy bit by pablo fransisco making fun of jackie chan
Final Boss of this Planet:
A Young Jackie Chan holding a baby.
In a room full with ladders, chairs and broomsticks.
He wants no trouble.
one of my favorite fight scenes of all time. and from his movies, I believe Jackie's been doing parkour way before David Bell (could be wrong, too lazy to check) or Casino Royale. he just didn't have a name for it.

Spiderman0816 -
You should watch Jackie's film called Police Story, it has some crazy stunts! Keeping in mind he did them all himself without blue screen...
the man's nuts! and i thank him for the entertainment
it shows you the out-takes at the end of the film ... and there is more of the ladder scene than anything else....
done some serious damage to his face/head at one point.
i wonder how many tries it took for him to get the ladder scene right.....looks so freaking hard.
It's official: the ladder MUST be a selectable weapon for the next Soul Calibur game. XD
You go Jackie! Ingenuity of the old chinese spirit, the mind of the Phantom homeboy!
such a genius fighter
really uses his surroundings perfectly
really good choreography
I love his old movies, where u can see all the action... These days, the hollywood movies he makes has too many camera angles. You cannot see all these old fashion action!
Jackie at his very very finest he was swinging that dam ladder he is a genuis and a legend
54 today :((( but we must be happy anyway , because he still living legend wit hthe real things he dose and leg hits + he will direct the Armour of God 3 !
jrodarz: Cheez, they're talking about JC as a legend RIGHT NOW! best fight scene ever
SICK! I wish Jackie would get back into this style of choreography rather than his comedic stuff. I think he STILL has it in him to a certain degree! C'mon Jacko! Wow us again!
If a fighter can use a ladder in combat, than he's the ultimatest...ultimate guy. YEAH!
bows down
Jackie is way un-trollable, he's a LEGEND while Chick is a troll legend :))
Jackie has even said Bruce is the best. Just Jackie knows how to entertain with his martial arts and stunts. 58 he'll be this year, still doing his own stunts. Bruce is where he started,. I swear Jackie can make any everyday furniture into weapons lol
