    No, we're seeing what blizz is doing with the Classic re-releases for the xpacs, now up to "Classic cata (lol)". SoD *needs* to be the Classic+, make new stuff for Classic as is being shown by how successful SoD is. The division in the playerbase is going to remain regardless, and SoD is very clearly bringing about a renaissance period for WoW.

    I think SOD into TBC and WOTLK is a bad take. I usually agree with your points. but as a classic lover id love to see them continue into a full on classic+ contained in the old world. and perhaps learn from their old mistakes and not introduce new small islands making the world feel small. If they would expand the Old World in the spirit of classic tho. that would be fine imo

  • @ianflurrance8438

      As strange as it might sound, if they were going to add future expansion content, I'd prefer if they skipped over TBC entirely and went straight into a Classic SoD Northrend. Northrend becomes like a level 40-60 continent, the raids become lower level versions of themselves (Ulduar for example becomes a 10 man level 40 raid), and ICC is just a new raid added for level 60 players. Just a random idea off the top of my head just now.

    • @Nayrock
      @Nayrock 8 месяцев назад

      @NixxiomOnRUclips i'd love that! As long as they don't introduce flying. It ruined modern WoW for me. I wouldn't mind Rated BGs being added as well. My #1 feature request though would be territory wars between the zones of Azeroth between the factions. The world map slowing changing blue to red (and vice-versa) as each zone is conquerored for honor and gear via castle sieges and wpvp objectives. A constant wpvp tug of war for domination

    • @luvhair255
      @luvhair255 8 месяцев назад

      @@NixxiomOnRUclips Fs in chat for a space goat main. But otherwise I think that'd make sense. Demon Hunter and Death Knight class to be in line with WC3 would be super cool to see? I always wished they had gone to Legion right after Wrath and that's like 25% of why my husband and I quit during Cata. We just wanted to play Demon Hunter, we're both huge Illidan fans but mained DK until we quit. As much as I love TBC and WOTLK with both those being the absolute best renditions of all games ever and of WoW…. This is Classic + that is and was meant for vanilla and a different timeline meant for vanilla and its likeness… like if Outland was to be in Classic plus/SoD… then it should just be a zone like hellfire and same with northrend… not an entire expansion that nullifies older content… just adding Zones won’t necessarily nullify content like an expansion would… so once 60 is hit, it’s all horizontal progression, not vertical like an expansion.

  • @Dastreus
    @Dastreus 8 месяцев назад +6

    I absolutely hope not. Season of Discovery has already painted itself as an alternative universe that will be expanding on forgotten things from vanilla with some spells and skills thrown in that have existed at times in retail. The Outland we will get will be the outland that existed in the vanilla days if they revisit it. It would be great if Season of Discovery does wind up being an AU. They could maybe do the story justice this time.
    A THIRD retreading of the same expacs would just suck. After Cata classic was announced, it's a real wonder if they're just going to classic every single expansion and if they do that again in SoD, I'd just have to eyeroll so hard I unsubscribe again.

      There already is to some extent with the new runes. But yes, Vanilla is the best version of the game, but that's not to say WotLK doesnt have aspects of it that are the GOAT.
      I wanted them to just fix what they did wrong and not go down the clearly wrong path they went down originally with the game, but that didn't happen. Then I realize "ye, there's no way they can grasp it, they just need stick with Vanilla and add the working things of WoTLK and TBC"
      They can't handle people bitching like "WHY DID YOU REMOVE THAT I LIKED IT", but they can surely deal with people going "oh oh oh i want this, and i want that".

    i don't think anyone wants to repeat the cycle of going back to TBC/WotLK, even with SoD flavor changes.

  • @Attan20
    @Attan20 8 месяцев назад +2

    No no, I think think they shouldn’t go TBC and on - that’s the issue I’m having with classic, they eventually run out of content, or we end up in the cycle of constantly starting over
    No, THIS is their opportunity to start over, make a new game, keep this revitalized interest. Classic plus man. Just updating vanilla, new updates that keep up at 60, but discovering new things. What I LOVE about SoD is there’s no rush to level. Leveling first is an outdated system. The biggest problem with the "fragmentation" argument is that it's one Blizzard is making themselves. It's why we didn't get TBC era servers, and why we're not getting Wrath era servers when Cata comes out. I think Blizz is in for a rude awakening after Cata hits. If SOD takes away from anything, it's going to be Cata Classic. I don't even understand why they're doing Cata Classic. It's the version of Kalimdor and the Easter Kingdoms that we have in retail right now. There's nothing classic about it. But they'll figure it out after Cata Classic launches and everyone movies over to HC or SOD.

    There's no point in making expansions with this model. The whole point of season of discovery is strictly to remix the base vanilla game with some modern day mechanics or abilities to put a spin on the formula everyone knew. It worked tremendously.
    Already classic wow lost the reason to exist since we are seeing them going into Cata, soon it's gonna be MOP and WOD ect and the same thing I said years ago when they announced BC classic is that it feels redundant to 'progress' what was meant to be a time capsule to re-experience and see how the game played back in the day. Then at some point people who have the MOP CM gear or special quiraji mounts and so on will beg blizzard to let them carry that Classic progress over to retail for some reason cause they want special status they didn't get first go around.
    It becomes a mess and personally? I think keeping it classic with it's mechanics and stats and other quirks makes Season of Discovery what it is. Like they made an official Remix private server using the vanilla engine.

    Do not go to tbc. I enjoyed tbc classic but even tbc is way different because it kills the old world. Instead, keep the old world alive and add onto what’s there WITHOUT adding new continents

    I’d like to see it run into TBC, but only after they add new end game content for vanilla for awhile then transition into TBC with some new, extended end game content as well.

    Who cares about Wotlk or Tbc, give more new content that actually happens in the world and not in a isolate part of the map

    You're thinking too small. "If I had asked people what they wanted they would have said: Faster horses" - Ford. This is what you're asking for with more of the same. When we initially thought of a Vanilla+ experience we wanted to keep the world of Azeroth relevant. Meaning we wanted more side-graded and challenging content added, along with an ironing out of some of the vanilla kinks. What we didn't ask for was the exact same Classic but with a few new quests, a few new raids (that will all be obsolete post-their-phase), and some out-of-context completely op TBC and WLK abilities peppered in - but everything else staying the same. I think the goal of this project should be to try and see just what you can do with Vanilla while keeping it's spirit alive.
    So we shouldn't think in terms of: "where did Blizzard go from here". Instead we should think: "Just how many of the old stories can we get to experience within Vanilla?". We absolutely have to have the Emerald Dream for instace. But the real problem here, is that SoD is chained to the era core and Blizzard has confirmed this. That's why you don't get the "new" spells from your trainer but from runes. Apparently, they have to "hack" changes into the era core that can easily be filtered when launching regular era. This is going to cause such problems going forward because it means we will -not- be seeing things that obviously need to improve such as talent changes, spell ranks removed, upgraded dungeon loot, etc. It means it's all pretty much just regular Classic but with a few WLK buttons to push and a revamped instance here and there to compensate for the fact that dungeon bosses still drop greens.

    they shouldn't have made tbc or wrath and kept updating vanilla and change things in vanilla

  • @TastyScotch

    What makes SoD cool is taking the QoL adjustments that exist in later expacs and putting them in vanilla. For example, I dont know how different TBC or Wrath would feel playing as a paladin capable of tanking healing or dpsing. Paladin could do that already in those expacs.

    The Interesting thing about TBC Season of Discovery is that it shouldn't be added, but I would prefer some of the TBC quality of life changes.
    Mudsprocket, Quel'Thalas, Blood Elves, Horde Paladins, Shaman Alliance, Better Flightpaths, Night Elf Boats for Feathermoon and Teldrassil, Improved Class tuning and some talent reworks.
    A lot of these changes would be welcome for any Classic Season of Discovery.
    The TBC features for the Old World are so interesting. It would be wise for Blizzard to consider them for Classic+ or Season of Discovery 2.0

    Give us TBC and WOTLK without raising the level cap. Make the PvE mobs require higher hit levels requiring high ilvl gear to hit them effectively.

    Sod going into tbc and wrath is a horrible idea. I’d stop playing as soon as that’s announced because I know where that goes. Sod works because it takes successful aspects of later expansions (like half the classes actually being able to do stuff besides heal) and incorporates them into the vanilla setting.
    I don’t care about being able to crusader strike in tbc or divine storm in wrath because that’s already a thing. 😂
    People want classic plus, which is new content designed around the gameplay and systems of vanilla. Not just retail from 10 years ago which is what 2019 classic has become.

    NO TBC, NO WRATH, the expansions fucked the game. More 1-60 content is all that's required. they could add all sorts of stuff, housing, battlegrounds, new race/class combinations, new aesthetic options (I'd love to see forsaken being able to chose undead skins for any of the other races) , all types of orcs, elves, humans, trolls etc

    If blizzard was smart they would take this sod and use it to change the direction of the narrative. Go to new places tell new stories reset the world to something we haven’t seen before. Classic + could be an alternate timeline with new adventures for us to explore.

    That is the only things we need from TBC. I personally don't anything else from the future.

    Here is another thought: why isn’t Blizzard making WoW playable on more devices? Modern consoles support mice and keyboards, and cell phones are more than powerful enough to run classic WoW. They can also be connected to Bluetooth M&K, as well as be directly connected or cast to most monitors. Doing that would make the game playable and affordable to countless people. Even if only a fraction of a percent of them join, that is still a massive boost to the population. That would help with any issues around dividing the player base.

    I think they should just scale BC down to level 60 and make it a straight progression versus a sectional one. Also, I never understood why hellfire citadel wasn't a raid. It's huge but they broke it down and sectioned it off. It easily could've been a huge raid.

  • @midgetydeath
    @midgetydeath 8 месяцев назад

    Outland and Wrath should be level 60 content instead of increasing the level cap. It isn’t like leveling up further matters. Or go the extreme other direction and make both similar to Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms: level one to sixty zones and quests as somewhere you can go to level and gear if you want to. More doesn’t strictly have to always be better than and invalidate what there was before.
