Somebody had to take the lead in restoring these classic bikes, so let it be you. You guys are hands down preserving the entire culture of vintage bikes. Love your passion for them!
I’m glad somebody is taking the time and $ to rescue all the vintage bikes , I mean he has it all , I’d volunteer at the museum I swear they would have to make me leave at night, as I was curled up under a nice Yamaha IT LOL
It was the bike that changed everything, in sheer weight of numbers . Fucking remarkable for a company that was initially built on the four-stroke design.
People should just donate anything they have sitting, this man is single handedly saving history, bike by bike. I’d volunteer at the museum, they would have to make me leave at night.
He’s not the only one. I have 72 vintage bikes . Some done. Others not. But I’m one guy and work alone.. just finished a 79cr125. It’s now mint with 2 heat cycles on the engine. Before that was a 1980 xr500.. so much too do and not enough time or funds
About a week ago my buddy threw his brand new smart phone against the ground, shattering it in a dozen pieces, frustrated by how complicated the set up was and screamed at the top of his lungs, I wish it was 1980 again! Thank You Kaplan America for the time travel! Good for the soul!
Beautiful! I had one new and raced it for 2 years. Not a huge deal but the front number plate is not original. The original plate had a hole in it that the throttle cable ran through.
@@wildzrs2645 that's awesome! Yeh wouldn't be cheap I have a mate who does the same with kawis even when he's always hunting for shit, took him aged to do his kx500
Kap Snr your are the man...if I get the chance I will visit your museum I'm on dialysis at the moment so can't travel to far. I'm in need of a kidney transplant hope to get one.....
Also had a couple Elsinore 80s that a buddy of mine restored, they were beautiful. Unfortunately had to part with them. Needed money. I will own more some day
Lol I love seeing bikes 15-20-25 years older than my 03 Cr125r I just got and working on but these are in way better condition than mine lol but it’ll get there
What was the most violent 2 stroke intake system? For me it was my buddies rotary port intake on his 77 can-can 125, it was all or nothing powerband! Explosive!
Lots of air cooled Hondas and especially Yamahas back then -and they all ripped. Low maintenance + high fun factor. Great trail bikes. -Most shops do not work on bikes like this. Waiting for and refurbishing parts. Vapor Honing/resurfacing all the metals. Rebuilding race forks and shocks. Painting and sending parts out for refurbishment and knowing good people that can do the work. = Much easier paying someone a few thousand to work on your bike than do it yourself.
This is like the fasted CR-125 🚀 Rocket I''ve seen rip..For a 1980 Elsinore,, I would bet that it would beat one of the 2-strokes from the 90's or when they stopped making them..I like to see that on the side of a 125 gas gas!!!
Hey I'm looking for a gold anodized DG head for my 1980 cr125. I can modify a 79 head to fit if necessary. What do you have laying about?? Cheers!!!! Bill.

Wow! That’s the bike that tire my KX 125 apart , The CR Ruled!
I had this 1980 CR125R. It was loaded to the teeth with high tech trickery that was reserved for the factory works bikes. Mine had Simmons Forks👍👍👍
