I raced a 79 CR250 when I was in high school in California. Metal tank, gold rims, big thick seat and red everything. That sound, the smell of two stoke exhaust, and I didn't feel it for two days after a race. My 450X is the way to go now, but man, seeing that thing takes me back.
rich keylor I had the same thing as A teenager growing up I graduated in 1979 I raced too my main track was Corona raceway and Riverside raceway Orange County Saddleback De Anza Indian dunes had a blast. Best bike ever made the red rocket.
Ken you covered everything but the paint on the motor It didn’t come black they were red. Probably one of the best bikes ever made 1979 HONDA CR 250R. The red rocket 🚀
Ken I know you probably know Larry janesky...I came up to Connecticut for a course at his company but him and his son ran the baja...pretty cool film they made about it called into the dust....its on RUclips....very smart business dude ..used to race motocross back in the early 90s I think
Ken. You are the definition of America. When I think of being in the US OF A I think if you riding a cucumber around town or your 250 Mugen. Or this sexy beast Thanks
Amazing, I remember drooling over this bike back when I was 14... MX Action and DB Magazine reviewed them, the suspension was as expensive then as it would be now... just WOW!!! And DG back then, I see it has the pipe, is that a DG cylinder and head??? they were notorious about using gold anodizing then so probably not... anyway just WOW!
Yes, literally a DREAM BIKE! I will, in fact, have dreams about this! 😍😍😍 ... MAN! Every subsequent video I watch from there makes me more and more want to visit and bring my son, who is autistic, and a cancer survivor. It was, in fact, his discovery of (my introducing him to) MOTORCYCLES, that brought him to his next level of improvement relative to his autism and cancer recovery. Once the doctors cleared him, and we knew he was going to be ok, we went WILD with motorcycles (a new thing for him, and a rekindling of my childhood and young adulthood for me)... I SSSOOO want to bring him there to experience your place. It’s SO far though from Southwest Georgia (we’re only 30 minutes from the FL and AL state lines)... About 1,200 miles... It’s definitely on the Bucket List though!
Damn, it's hard to watch the program sometimes, my eyes hurt from looking so hard. Can you guys do thíis country boy a favor and so a research on the new yamahauler 7oo terene enduro I really like it but your opinions are valuable
Those fox air shox... i watched that bike race. I wanted to be pat Richter so bad. Lived in the bay area so I went to fox HQ a few times. No matter how much you beg they will not give 15 year old free fox shox.
I've had a go on one of them when I was 16 ....i weighed about 9 and a half stone back then lol....man it was savage ...took some getting used to but I wasn't a bitch on it ...after about 20 mins I started ripping it
OMFG Kaplan I bought one of these at black canyon Honda in phoenix arizona brand new in 1978 as I got the first of the new 1979 stock but it didn't look like this one ! and the cylinder was not anything looking like a Nikasil coating. the cylinder was electroplated hard chrome that was applied using a ball hone type spinning brush the bristles made of hard chrome charged with electricity and then spun into the aluminium cylinder to bond the chrome to the cylinder as was explained to my by harald brown who was the American Honda service rep for the Midwest ! but no you have one of the most rare 1979s ...whaaaa damn it boy ! next lets see you find a mugen ! bahaha...I raced my 79' for 7 years on the original cylinder and then traded it for a 1954 cherry hard tail unchopped Harley frame and parts to my local motorcycle club , the cloven hooves who gave me all kinds of hell afterwards as one member said .." I got one rider in the hospital with a broken arm and leg and his young son is in jail for out running the cops on your crazy Honda ..and what hell did you do to that thing to make it run like that ?" at that time the cloven hooves were corner flaggers at our local motocross track and decided they wanted to play too ! boy oh boy did they get a surprise !
I have this bike for sale, fox fork front, fox air shocks in the rear. Most importantly, Moto Fox banana swingarm. Bike is only missing intake.1979 cr250r, for sale. Needs complete rebuild. Hit me up.
