    Continuing work on the derelict farm yard, I’m using various scatters/grasses to create the effect of a really overgrown forgotten yard.
    I’ve used a mixture of fine and course turfs, 4mm and 7mm static grass, poly fibre and sea foam trees to cover the area.
    I also used the ‘field rollers and farm junk’ pack from ‪@ScaleModelScenerycouk‬ to add some more features to the area.
    Knowing when to stop is always hard - I’m sure I could add lots more to this area……
    As always, Thank you for watching.

    Looks great! You have created a seriously good model railway layout, and still you doubt your ability. If you think back to when you started and the improvement in your skill set and more importantly your willingness to share your experiences (good, bad and ugly) you should be extremely proud of yourself. I love your videos simply because they are so easy to watch and learn from. Thank you. Paul C.

      Regarding the tractor......if you need to strip the paint off submerge it in neat dettol!.....doesn't eat plastic either! Just wear gloves when handling and an old toothbrush will be needed to agitate the corners and creases etc......just don't use the wife's toothbrush 😬🤣

    Hi, love what you have done. One comment, the buildings all have bright white window sills- if they were toned down with a dirty wash they wouldn’t stand out so much. Just a thought.
    Also, was looking at where you have all your coaches sitting. You were talking about doing a town scene there. If you did, you could fit a drawer in there that slid out and could hold some excess stock.

    • @Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt

    You really do have a knack for making scenes looking natural. If I was the boss of WWScenics, I would send you a free static grass applicator to review and keep. With regards DCC decoder fitting, I reckon TMC or Digitrains would probably be safe bets.

    A very informative video with your scenic effects around the farm. Love the detail and for me, it's just right. Perhaps a few flowers could be added if you feel up to it!! As for your static grass applicator, I assume you're using 2 x AA batteries which provide only 3 volts. Others that use 9V give a better lift, if you are ever thinking of trading up. However the hoover provides good results too!

    • @Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt
      @Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt  3 дня назад

    Things on the layout are looking great. That model shop you found in the next town over might have some leads on some place to get the locos upgraded to DCC. those shops are amazing with what they might have access too. and when you go to the exhibition try to identify other possible shops that are close to home.

  • @Millsbritish4x4

    We are all our worst critics, from where I'm sitting your appear to be working magic on the scenics, my personal opinion, a couple of trees would be the cherry on the top, for the farm yard. There's a product called "Dirty Down Rust Effect"...I've used it a fair bit on steel structures, like the coaling tower, it works a treat.

  • @GamingFnaticYT
    @GamingFnaticYT 4 дня назад +2

    Yeah maybe try your local model shop or something, the older models you can still get them DCC fitted, you just have to have the decoders hard wired to the motors, I’ve got quite a few older models that are DCC fitted, only ones that are a bit fiddly are the split chassis models but they can still be converted also, try and speak to your local model shop or model railway club for advice. That’s the best you can do. 👍🏻

    • @GamingFnaticYT
      @GamingFnaticYT 4 дня назад +1

      Also if the models are tender driven, they can be DCC fitted also as I just recently got an older Hornby B17 Manchester United which is tender driven, took it to my local model shop to get it hard wired to DCC for around £30 because I already had some decoders to use, but if you know how to solder etc it’d be relatively easy.

    • @Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt
      @Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt  3 дня назад

      Brilliant. That’s great to know. Thank you 🙏

    • @GamingFnaticYT
      @GamingFnaticYT 3 дня назад

      @@Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt no problem, my grandad did alot of them when the collection was his, until I’ve inherited them but I did get some done the same way, it’s fairly easy to do if you’re good at soldering, you just gotta solder the correct wires for the decoder to where the motor would connect to to pickups etc, if you know what I mean and you’re good to go, if you’re still unsure then I’d recommend speaking to a local model shop or something like that.

    • @Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt
      @Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt  3 дня назад

      Thanks. I’ve spaced all my track at ‘Streamline’ spacing. Centre to centre is roughly 50mm giving a gap from rail to rail of 34mm (OO gauge). I used a Peco 6ft Way gauge to make it easier They are dirt cheap to buy. Just need to be careful on curves if using tight radius curves as this gap wouldn’t be enough. Hope that helps 👍

    In general looks too clean for a farm yard, missing the aid disused tractor's (white metal kits?) old feeding troughs, farm machinery old packing crates. I used to deliver fertilizer to farms (before my HGV was suspended due to health reasons) no farm was the same but all had a mini scrape yard of metal & wooden waste around.
