They could have handled it better when it came to light but they didn’t want to jump the gun. Also, respect to the CMPD for being this transparent and posting all these videos. Did Chapman have his body cam on? If not that is incriminating right there. One of the other officers should have said something about that.

      @@NahtShure actually no he can't. It doesn't work that way for those types of jobs. Trust me. I know it is cool to think that is what happens, but not reality. What people don't know is that departments do a very thorough 2 or 3 month background investigation on these guys and a felony charge pops up anywhere in the country. They fill out a personal history questionnaire after their application that is like 30+ pages long. In there he will have to list all of his addresses and employers among other things. Then they call those police departments and ask for his records. On top of that a felony charge is enough to strip him of his post certification which he needs to work. He also can't carry a gun anymore. He's done man.

    It's refreshing to see a police department be up front and transparent about the misconduct of one of their officers. Too often, departments across the country put up that blue wall of silence and then delay investigation until the incident fades from public memory while the dirty cop is allowed to quietly retire with benefits.

    • @NahtShure
      @NahtShure 4 месяца назад

      It's called copaganda, and cmpd is only looking out for their own selfish self-interests and trying to retain credibility for their own conscience. This is not a public service. If it was a public service, cmpd would be releasing the footage unredacted.

    @CMPDHQ Thanks for being transparent with the public about this and taking action. It means a lot. However I wonder why the officer is charged with Embezzlement instead of theft from this person. Was that money seized or something? If not, then why would it be Embezzlement?

    • @NahtShure
      @NahtShure 4 месяца назад +3

      Embezzlement occurs when someone has authority and a legal access to money. In Moon's case, Chapman had legal access because a detainee's belongings are kept in an envelope until the detained is released or transfered to a different authority. Theft is defined by taking something when one does not have legal access to those belongings.

    You all treated Mr. Moon with such disrespect! He showed so much grace to the officers who did not want to even check the thieving Chapman, he showed such grace to the thieving officer himself & you people STILL continued to treat Mr. Moon with disrespect & as if this was HIS fault! And then the officers go on to treat the thieving officer with almost sympathy after he’s caught & arrested! What is wrong with you people?! Seriously! I spent 24 years in LE & I couldn’t be more ashamed of you people or more disgusted with these officers than I am right now! Every single one of you ought to be ashamed of yourselves! Disgusting! And there’s zero doubt in my mind that this isn’t the first time an arrestee has complained about this officer stealing, & there’s zero doubt in my mind those complaints were completely ignored, or kind of investigated & “unfounded” bc it was an arrestee lodging the complaint! The only reason the public even knows about this, & the videos are released, is bc a judge had to ORDER you people to! Trying to hide this from the people who pay your salaries shows yet another level of corruption! It starts with leadership & this department is CLEARLY lacking in t leadership & transparency!
