Omg. This video is the perfect example of what standard vs much more often does. Exactly what we talked about in the discord. I love how you are able to put this into a video so clearly! Super well done! Lovely vid! ❤️
Really great video this. I like the idea of using the pressing slider balanced with player & opposition instructions which can allow you to balance maintaining shape with applying pressure, definitely seems the way to go
Great insights, just come across this video and your other video ‘is pressing dead’ and they’ve got me reviewing all again my asymmetrical 4231 formation for Brighton. Wanted an aggressive pressing style with this starting with a pressing forward, however sometimes find games I dominate the opposite team gets that 1 goal that they don’t deserve and now I think it may be through my over aggressive pressing and player being dragged out of position. Great videos and in depth reviews. Thanks.
Omg you LEGEND! Set my opposition settings accordingly, and they push like demons without the need for high intensity tactics now! Best tips I've had yet.
This is an excellent breakdown and really helpful for tactical design. The main issue seems to be how black/white the slider dictates the players' behaviors. If pushed to the right, they will run around wildly and leave gaps when there's no need. If left in the middle, they won't tend to make the extra push when the situation calls for it. A human would adjust from time to time, but the slider dictates a strict behavioral response.
Question I'm always let with after these types go videos where you go from one extreme to the next is, of course players won't perform the style correctly, as there has be no time to train them in it, so they're aimlessly just attempting to do what is asked of them. I would love to see when a team has had a few months of one style, and then how they execute it, and the same save, but where they've been trained the other extreme and see what effect that has.
The willingness to press is probably similar, but the effectiveness may vary, as lower league players may not be as quick, as strong, as determined or have as good tackling
@@TheManagersSeat I find they don't have the stamina. I might press bigtime for the last half hour if I'm chasing the game and i think the oppo will tire.
Excellent video. I think a good follow up on this would be experiments combining pressing as you have here with OIs with Stingers previous man/zonal marking video. Perhaps your back 4 on tight marking to stay in shape and your front 6 pressing?
I love these kinds of breakdowns, super informative stuff. I'd love to know how counter-pressing affects your pressing behavior. Is there any value to having it on if you are not playing a high press? How long and where does it affect where your players chase the ball before returning to their "normal" defensive behavior?
I've always used much more pressing. If I'm pushing for promotion or a league title, I'll notice it's like clockwork, the last 10 games are like I have a different team, losing to bottom of the league, 4-0 up, then 4-5 down . Got a squad more than big enough, sometimes even 3 players in each position, and never playing people with fatigue. I don't even like playing people with high match load If I can help it. So I was convinced I was managing the loads properly, but this has got me thinking, why don't I drop the intensity towards the end of the season, cos there has to be a reason my seasons go to pot at the same time
Imo the most important thing about good Gegenpress is having mentaly strong players with high "workrate", "determination","descision" and also "stamina". Just look how many Liverpool Players have high workrate and generell good mental attributes.
It can be frustrating to have players too high up the pitch when the press is set to more or much more. I guess if you are High Press as setting in the field it is useful to go Standard, at least in the lower leagues.
Interesting and I'd curious to hear you thoughts on opposition instructions. The anal part of me feels very uncomfortable with Saka and Ødegaard on the left and Xhaka and Martinelli on the right.😅
Just so that we could see an easier comparison of just the standard and more intense pressing without counter pressing skewing things. I'm planning a separate video analysing the differences between having counter pressing selected or not selected
Let us know how you prefer to set your press in FM23 in the comments?

Thanks! And thanks for the inspiration for the video
Really great video this. I like the idea of using the pressing slider balanced with player & opposition instructions which can allow you to balance maintaining shape with applying pressure, definitely seems the way to go
It does seem like the opposition instructions can be a great way of tweaking the press to get it just how you want it
Loving the in depth look at pressing! Keep it up!
Thanks for your help with the video!

@@TheManagersSeat Can opposition settings be automated or do we need to enter them for each game?
Cheers, thanks for the vid

Then use opp instructions to trigger the press just how you want it while maintaining your balanced press and team shape
Fantastic! Thank you Mr. Llama

I started with cm 01-02, I'm from Argentina, very good video and I feel I'm going to follow your videos I'm a fan of tactics
Very kind! Welcome to The Managers Seat
The champion you are!
Great video
I'm gonna try out the standard pressing with a higher mentality
This vid deserves a sub. I hope this works on Nintendo version
This is great! Thanks mate ❤
Glad it helped
Fascinating - more like this, please. How do you find lower league part timers compare to Arsenal in pressing?
The willingness to press is probably similar, but the effectiveness may vary, as lower league players may not be as quick, as strong, as determined or have as good tackling

Great video ! Thank you !!! Usually I prefer mid block with more often trigger press
The mid block seems to be much more effective this year - the high press no longer seems quite so dominant!
these are the videos we need
We appreciate the support
Cracking video
Who knew he could learn tactics, eh?

I think Llama is indeed planning on making a video analysing how players behave when counter pressing is used/nor used. Thanks for the suggestion!

Your videos are simply class
Thank you Dominik
Standard Pressing + Opposing Team Instruction will work better? Like Always Press on their midfields and GK ?
Very good video mate 👍👍. The music could be a bit lower though 🎄🎄🎁🎁
Thanks for this. I tend to in between the two.
That may well be the sweet spot
Imo the most important thing about good Gegenpress is having mentaly strong players with high "workrate", "determination","descision" and also "stamina". Just look how many Liverpool Players have high workrate and generell good mental attributes.
Great video, thanks. Not a fan of the background music though, it's distracting and unnecessary. Maybe consider even just lowering the volume. Cheers
It can be frustrating to have players too high up the pitch when the press is set to more or much more. I guess if you are High Press as setting in the field it is useful to go Standard, at least in the lower leagues.
Or have very physical players!
good content but the music is really disturbing.
Noted, thank you
definitely.
Solid info but I couldn’t hear myself think with the music
Looks like the lower you go, the more it's more towards closing the passing lanes than pressing the opponent
Interesting and I'd curious to hear you thoughts on opposition instructions.
The anal part of me feels very uncomfortable with Saka and Ødegaard on the left and Xhaka and Martinelli on the right.😅
Anal 😂
why did you not select counter-press in your tactic?
Just so that we could see an easier comparison of just the standard and more intense pressing without counter pressing skewing things. I'm planning a separate video analysing the differences between having counter pressing selected or not selected
H8gh pressing leads to leaky def3nce zs the oposition just hoof it over tbe defence and score
My only issu with high press is u need players with good pace in defence
Do you add in the opposition instructions that you mentioned in the other video when doing a higher press?
Can work together really well
