It feels like I'm watching a scott the woz vid without it being a scott the woz vid. Love it. Honestly, I wanna start a game collection once I start earning money for myself. It'll be a pretty cool hobby to have when I'm older.
I started collecting games about 15 years ago back when it was still affordable. I have thousands of video games, most of which I bought over 10 years ago. I would never be able to afford all those games in current times due to the high prices. I would not want to get into collecting now.
Parents teached me to buy, enjoy, save for later. So got almost all the games I enjoy since the 90s. Consoles still happy. Glad nintendo bring gems to the future like thousand-year door. However I did spend $150 on minish cap complete set, hehe. Totally worth it 😅 .
Prices won’t keep rising forever. That’s why Atari games aren’t $3000 by now. Eventually supply is increased due to ’flashback’ consoles with many games built in, and re-releases on newer consoles. Demand drops as people get over their nostalgia period. PS1 games are rising in price because of nostalgia, but PS3 games are still seen as old & cheap (for now).

I do collect videogames for years now. Most of them come from ebay. I never had the problem that the wrong Game was send to me and even if, just write to the seller that he did a misstake. I don't think this a vaild "Collecting Problem". The "not working" Part i get. But even this one can be avoided if you look for not scratched Discs. (als the seller before buying it). It is not really a "problem", if you are interested in game collecting, this is what you are getting into. This is not a game-specific problem, it happens in any type of collecting. There is a very limited supply, as anything besides current platform games has been discontinued for ages, so for the hotly in-demand items, you will have to pay an arm and a leg.
As a first time watcher of your channel, I wanted to say you’ve got a great thing going here and you have earned my subscription! If I could make a topical request… Makes video on the different SNES models. I’d like to know your opinion on the Super Famicom vs the Super Nintendo. As an American I cannot believe how much better looking the Super Famicom is.
Since most Wii/NGC games are so expensive nowadays, I downloaded every game I like from those platforms on a 64GB sd card (might need a bigger one soon LOL) on my homebrewed Wii. The only Wii physical games I own I did not pay a premium price for them. I got a pristine Twilight Princess WII game CIB for only 20$ CAD, and a copy of Brawl in mint condition for 15$ CAD.
I wish we didn't hyper inflate the gaming collection market to the point where having to wait for a convention is the CHEAPER option to get some of these games or even consoles.
I have 2 stories about missing discs, and then the rest idk lol ig I forgot but I don't really mind with the God of War thing because I wanted MGS 2 anyway
It’s important to check for disc rot. I recently bought a PS1 game. It wouldn’t play & I thought it was due to scratches. I took it to a local store to be re-surfaced. The machine did a good job, zero scratches. Still wouldn’t play. I read about disc rot, held it up to a bright light, and saw holes the same color as the center hub (purple) because the reflective aluminum layer had deteriorated.
this is why no one should give a rats ass and pirate no ones legit losing anything if you have a modded wii dreamcast or ps2 or even have a flashcart for your 64 now lol i get the whole physical issue i keep a small collection of my favorites but disc based games nah if the console can be modded it already is and i dont really need a disc that will eventually go bad i just wanna play the game not keep it oh soooo super clean and pretty and unopened never to be enjoyed .... ;c
Yeah at this point I don't blame people for pirating these old games. If the game is made available again then buy it, but if its not then at that point just pirate it. No sane person who JUST wants to play the game would pay these prices.
It is for some games because of nostalgia, more people into collrciting, whatever condition/cart or box and so on sure or good/bad games. Gamecube games aren't expensive just because of nostalgia. They are expensive because most of the disks were destroyed by the kids that owned them back in 2005.
Also because the Gamecube wasn’t that popular to begin with. The Wii was much more popular, partly because it was backward compatible and also motion controls were a huge fad then.
