      +13Kr4zYAzN13 The vong are actually mentioned in KOTOR 1 when you speak to the Mandolorian. They were scoping out the galaxy for invasion up to 4000 years before they actually attempted it.
      The Chiss Ascendency was aware of there presence outside the galaxy at least 50 years before the invasion.

    • @KikBlava
      @KikBlava 8 лет назад +3

      Vlad the Inhaler I remember hearing from someone online that Emperor Palpatine was aware of the Vong and was preparing to destroy them whenever the invasion began. I've not read the books yet so I can't confirm if that's true, but it makes for an interesting incite into the plans Palpatine had for the galaxy.

    @Gyarretto7 6 лет назад +15

    Personally, I'm.... iffy on the Yuuzhan Vong. I will concede that they are VERY different from anything that had come before and after, but honestly, they're SO different, and SO out of place, that I think that things kind of get bogged down when too much focus is placed on them, which absolutely happened in everything from the New Jedi Order Saga onwards. They were at their best when they were strange, bizarre, unnamed anomalies; I don't know if it's still being treated as canon, but one of the episodes planned for The Clone Wars before its cancellation would have had an X-Files style alien abduction/mystery story centered on a Vong scout ship. That sounds like a much more fascinating story concept than the majority of the NJO Saga, where every facet of their species and culture was spoon-fed to us.

    I was never into the EU but I actually like the concept of the Yuuzhan Vong. A great way to implement an entirely new enemy into the saga and let the franchise take an unexpected turn. I don't know why people complain about them not feeling like Star Wars. I mean, they are right but that just isn't something bad for me. (No Trekkie.) People are much to picky about what is "right" Star Wars.
    Then again, I like that people are welcoming the new canon (judging by other comments on this video).

      james739123 I know, but I kinda like that they don't feel like classic Star Wars. Sometimes a franchise needs some fresh air. I'm not an EU-expert but didn't the empire come back at some point? Seriously, isn't that lazy? Always bringing back the same bad guys. Always some empire or the Sith? The Yuuzhan Vong were atleast creative.

    • @Harborx
      @Harborx 9 лет назад +3

      +Drace90 You're right, I liked that they pushed Star Wars out of it's comfort zone with the Vong. About the new canon being "welcome"... Disney's creation of a new "canon" has really only served to further divide the fanbase. Now there are fans of the old canon (now dubbed "Legends") and the new Disney canon. For a lot of older fans, Disney's decision to ditch 35+ years of official continuity does not bode well, and then there are the casuals that will give everything a chance. Why? Because: Disney.

    • @Drace90
      @Drace90 9 лет назад +4

      Harborx
      Well, I would say that's the fault of the fans, not Disneys. I don't see a reason to "choose a side" and fight a fanwar or something. That's only something butthurt overentitled fans would do, who call themselfs the one true Star Wars fans and believe they do something positive with it. (Which strangely reminds me of some of the actual wars that are uneccesarily fought out there.)
      Let's be honest. The fanbase is broken anyway. It doesn't matter what LucasFilms would decide for Star Wars, because overentitled fans would hate on it anyway and they proved it again and again. Just like right now. LucasFilms still makes all creative decisions for Star Wars, yet peeps hate on Disney as some kind of scapegoat. And who was the scapegoat before Disney bought LucasFilms? Oh yeah, George Lucas.
      See? These one true fans just can't be satisfied anymore? So why bother? If you ask me, they lost their chance to be taken seriously. I for one can't really blame LucasFilm for the idea to create this big but ultimately closed "old EU"-bubble for the ranting fans who are now more in the way than anything else. And at the same time they go forward with the franchise and build it up for the trusty fans who actually stayed true to the franchise and of course the new generation of Star Wars fans (or "casuals" as you put it) who are just enjoying the franchise like it should be.
      Hey, if the one true fans can't deal with the fact that the franchise isn't produced exclusively for them after forty years, I wouldn't care much about them either. Would be way to hard trying to satisfy the people who already made a huge fuss about the crossguard lightsaber or one of the main characters being black, a year before the movie even comes out.

    • @Harborx
      @Harborx 9 лет назад +2

      "Butthurt"? "Overentitled"? Terms only a casual would use. Especially since the casual SW follower has no real stake in a reboot. They simply scrounge around every once in a while, not truly dependable to the franchise at all. You're... not a casual are you? The casual is fickle. Oh, and I think the words you're searching for are "angry" and "justified" ^_^. See, when you spend, time, money and brainpower following a beloved series for 30+ years you BECOME a little "entitled". Hey man, it's not our fault the douchebags at Disney made The incredibly LAZY and poorly thought out decision to push a reboot instead of remaining true to the integrity of the established canon of 35+ years. There are a wealth of characters they could have used from previous canon in a not yet told story, but alas, JJ possesses the magic sci-fi reboot button. Ep 7 should have brought new and old fans together, now it's only split them apart.
      When one has read books with characters that have been popular and official for decades and at the last minute get your hopes dashed to ever see them again, onscreen or otherwise, then you could MAYBE understand the fan's plight, but until one does, they're just a casual, a noob, a rank amateur pretending they know something about Star Wars. The only portion of SW fans I think fit the "overentitled" bill of the Star Wars fandom were the Original Trilogy fans, who basically are responsible for the mess we're currently in as fans. Lucas got tired of their incessant whining about Eps 1-3 and was just like "screw it" and washed his hands of it and sold out to Disney instead of Fox, which puzzled me...
      Most EU content was produced during my generation of the fandom and we tended to keep an open mind, but there were always OT fans who kept saying their trilogy was better than the other, when it's ALL part of the 6-piece story LUCAS authorized and wanted told. When he wanted people to expand upon his established universe, he had the EU.
      "...for the ranting fans who are now more in the way than anything else. And at the same time they go forward with the franchise and build it up for the trusty fans who actually stayed true to the franchise and of course the new generation of Star Wars fans (or "casuals" as you put it) who are just enjoying the franchise like it should be."
      Wow. It's funny how we "ranting fans" made Star Wars what it is, kept it alive during the 90's by buying the books and games and such, and suddenly we're "in the way" to be swept under the rug. That's fair. I wonder, what will become of YOU and your cadre of "trusty fans" in 20 years? If anything, stripping down the large intricate tapestry that was the EU is a lazy drawback as it takes away all of the lush story content and background characters surrounding the Star Wars Universe, and creates a disparity between two generations of fans. It's a disservice to fans of Star Wars everywhere.
      It's because of the casuals that Disney has become totally unoriginal in their desperate attempts to appeal to new fanbase, and passing it off as "new" like it wasn't done in the EU already. Only a casual would calmly lap up the same recycled story without realizing it's been done with the franchise before. You should know from other companies like capcom, what happens when you betray core fans of a franchise. It never ends well.

    Why didn't they arrive during the Old Republic? Those wars were far more massive in scale and many force users with tremendous powers existed back then. I'm sure a SWTOR Yuuzhan Vong story arc would've been interesting to see and how the Old Republic and Sith Empire will deal with them. They could also make it so that the invasion attempt was documented and passed down from sith to sith leading Palpatine to find out about them soon enough.

      The Vong were one of the best things about Star Wars! People complain because they hate Timothy Zahn's idea of an enemy outside of the known galaxy. They also didn't like the fact the couldn't be detected in the Force like his ysalamir.
      A grown up more adult world wasn't for everyone either. They love safe children stories like Rebels. Which is totally fine. To each his own right?

    The Yuuzan Vong are only immune to lesser force beings. Luke Skywalker in this trilogy is basically God. He said fuck that shit and used the force on them. Luke is literally God in the force. He killed Abaloth, and merged his body with the force it's self and became one with it. He became what Anakin was supposed to become. The force is a cosmic entity and Luke became one with it.

    At first i did not like Yuzhan Vong. But when you think about it, they are the best thing about Star Wars: why did Emperor build Death Star and massive warships and vast armies? He already ruled everything he needed to - and against rebels a planet destroying ship is quite ineffective, you are just blowing up your own planet.
    Emperor built them to fight Yuzhan vong and their planet ships and vast invasion forces. Had rebels lost the war, galaxy would have suffered only small minority of losses they suffered in Yuzhan vong war. So who is the good guy?
    I love it when Star Wars is not good vs evil, that is boring kids tale. I prefer Expanded Universe`s more in-depth view of the force and good and bad guys.
    They also were the enemy Chiss and Thrawn prepared against. But again rebels (now Republic) stopped Thrawn from uniting galaxy under his genius command.

      How are they more in line with Star Trek? In Star Trek most religions turn out to be aliens manipulating primitives with advanced technology. Also Star Trek always struck me as more peaceful and utopian (though I suppose that changed the more we got to know the Federation). Star Trek strikes me as a more atheistic less violent universe. Which is the opposite of the Yuuzhan Vong. Hell, I'd argue them not fitting is a plus; I think it's good to try putting in new forces every so often when you've got something as long lasting as Star Wars. Why must every war be jedi vs. Sith, with the occasional interlude with the Mandalorians?

  • @violetscourge8793

    I seriously wish the Yuuzhan Vong were canon or maybe the primary villain for a future movie or possibly a trilogy. If the Vong are as deadly and xenophobic as they're said to be, that make a really dark Star Wars story. And I know it's called Star Wars not Galaxy Wars, but I think Star Wars should introduce another galaxy, it be something never seen in Star Wars (canon anyway).

    But if they got cut off from the Force for overdoing it, why didn't the Sith take the hint and restrain themselves a bit? Weren't they afraid that the same would happen to them if they went too far and caused too much suffering? Also, is the Force sentient now or what, to be able to cut beings off from itself? And why is the Dark Side regarded as evil, when apparently in the absurd Ying-Yang Lucas-verse its only purpose is to balance out the Light Side, thus making them both simply two sides of the same coin? And if that is the case, then "Star Wars" is rather illogical, because "war" implies victory, and by definition any significant "victory" would cause the balance in the Force to be tipped, thus countering the whole purpose of the "war" itself. HOW DOES ANY OF THIS MAKE SENSE?

    • @saloccenobite8071
      @saloccenobite8071 8 лет назад +4

      They got cut off from the Force by their homeworld. The homeworld was sentient and it thought that the Yuuzhan Vong had gone too far since they started conquering their home galaxy after driving away two droid races that had previously enslaved them.
