I love all the positive comments. I grew up on Sousa. I lead the high school band as a majorette. It still makes me move all over and if no one is looking, I march around the room! (I am nearly 85 yo)
keep on going you. my family for some reason has been dying at age 80 because well smoking but i hope you are healthy and happy. have a good day or night.
Nice. (From Perú)
Same here... BEST thing for chronic depression and illness -- turn off the TV and put on uplifting 🎶 like this!
God bless you madame
You go, girl! There's magic in a Sousa composition.
I’m a relative of Sousa…it’s always been a proud part of our family history.
Hello, Sousa great composer thanks god bless you and bless American people
He had an astonishing gift for melody.
The American spirit in music
i just love listening to these marching songs.
Holy Toledo! Can these people play, or WHAT?! Wow . . Just Wow . . Thanks for gathering these exceptional performances.
Hair on the back of my neck stands up, my eyes water and I give thanks for the opportunity to live in such a great country.
This music just makes me feel good.
Hello, it's fantastic marches thanks god bless you and bless American people
The John Philip Sousa marches are wonderful. They make you feel good even if you don't.

I may be the only serviceman that loved to march.....
There is nothing more impressive than watching a few hundred men and women marching in perfect step and cadence .All starting and stopping at the very same time.It was great to be part of something like a military parade. I stood a little taller when we were all done. Truly a great post. makes my eyes get all glassy. GBA...Remember 9/11
Nothing made me prouder to be a soldier than marching behind a band. At our passing out parade in the Canadian Army basic training, we marched to Souza. Truly the the king of marches.

When I was a young kid going to school, my late mother would barge into our bedroom (shared with my elder brother) at around 6:00am and bring along a portable National-brand radio. She would then turn it on to the local radio station (in Malaysia we call it RTM for Radio-Television Malaysia) where the broadcast has just begun for the day. And typically, every morning, it would be Sousa's marching music. For years, they drove me nuts and I would remember Sousa's music with dread in my heart! But that was in the 60s. Looking back, now that I'm 62 years old, listening to the marching music brings back fond memories of my loving mother whose duty and responsibility in bringing us up with my late father can only stir my heart with gratefulness and love.

So great
My grandparents loved listening to John Philip Sousa IN PERSON ! ! ! When Grandma died, we played the STARS and STRIPES in the church balcony and exited in parade out into the yard. It was a HOOT ! My dad, ALSO a minister, led the BEST funerals - jokes, stories, laughing and memories. I came here to get JACKED before house cleaning.
Gotta love Sousa. There will never be another composer that totally gets what it means to be American. The Michael Angelo of the Constitution set to music. God bless our great United States of America!
Yes I remember playing in the high school band going out on the football field at halftime or sometimes on Memorial Day parades play John Philip Sousa tunes --I love them. I played the trombone!
1956. Senior year. High School Band. City Band. I played the bass drum and loved it. Thanks to Paul Gauche, Director (and lover of Sousa marches) for all the good memories.
My mother played saxophone in her high school marching band and was a Sousa fanatic, teaching me to love his marches as well. On my mother’s deathbed in hospice as mom was transitioning from our world into the next one, my sister played a recording of Sousa marches so mom could go marching off to heaven.
I have listened to these marching songs since I was in grade school back in the 1950s. They have kept me inspired. As soon as I was old enough, I joined the military and served with my head high.
Thank you for your service.

My Dad and my Grandfather directed concert and marching bands for a combined almost 80 years! Always had a Memorial Day Parade and we marched in parades all around the county for other holidays. They were immigrants from Italy and were proud to be AMERICANS!
Great music
As a child I hard his music, and was entranced! i asked my dad who it was, and when he said john philiph sousa, I wanted more, and more, but he only one patrotic 8 track tape. I wanted more of Sousa, and every time I heard him, I wanted to hear it again, and again.
I was reared on the campus of a boarding school. My Dad was a teacher and the librarian. We lived across the street from the band room. Band practice was 7 a.m. every weekday morning. I ate breakfast to these marches.
Jim Porter
Every Saturday morning, my father would wake up the family to the tunes of John Philip Sousa. Such memories
Hey Jim, that's sounds like an awesome way to wake up and eat breakfast.
I played the clarinet ln the 100 person Rexburg, Idaho marching band and we played only Sousa. Loved it then and even more now.
I'm enticed to play these at max volume for all my roommates to hear at midnight.

I am 30 years old and remember my grandfather, former U.S. Navy - Pearl Harbor & WWII era, absolutely loved Sousa and always had these tunes queued up when we visited in the mid 2000s. He would be 98 in February. Love you Grandpa Benedict.
30 years old is not that old dude
Without fail, this music summons all of the pride and love of country I have in my heart. The day that Stars and Stripes Forever does not put a lump in my throat and bring a tear to my eye is the day they play it for me one last time as they lay me to rest.
Right there with you! Beautifully put.
Awesome way to put it, they'll bury me before they bury my American pride!! 🇺🇸

I agree Jim. I played tuba in high school and college. Then I entered military service and subsequently served for 24 years as an aviator. I still get chills when hearing this music. May God Bless America!!
Llllmmmmmmmmmmmmml
The music reminds me of my youth when i and my playmates follow the marching band around town. Thank you for the music
When I was in school (1980s), the band teacher had the students perform Sousa marches at every concert. To this day, I associate them with him. He passed away earlier this year. RIP George Petkaitis.
Rip Maestro George. Amen.
Love to hear the sound of Sousa's marching band music! God bless America! and may there be Peace throughout the world!
These marches put a spark in my step even when I don’t feel energetic.
Pure Magic how fortunate we are to have such talented people in the world 🌎 to create music that will last generations to come.
Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺
Leonard Bernstein conducted a vibrant version of Stars and Stripes. At 143 beat per minute. I am blessed or cursed, I don't know, I have Sousa's marches as earworms. :)
Played trombone in High School. Our band leader made us memorize Sousa marches. My luck. first permanent station in the Army and there was an announcement. DOES ANYONE KNOW SOUSA MARCHES. Hey, got em all memorized. Joined the base marching band. No more KP, guard duty or other tasks. I was special. They had plenty of saxaphones, trumpets, clarinets, not too many trombones. Served me well.
As a Azorean myself it feels good seeing the work of one of "Us" still is so well preserved, never thought years ago that those american patriotic songs that are the face of the USA were made by one of our diaspora.
On my way to Nam and the question came up anyone play a tuba and I said yes, In High School I played tube and got assigned to the 323rd Army Band San Antonio Tx
I was also a trombone player in school, and yes, we all had to memorize Sousa marches as well. Happens when your band director is a vet - in this case a Captain in charge of a MASH unit (active and reserve).
Love your story....and thank you for your service....
You memorized all 136??
Was a band kid for much of my early childhood, went on to join jrotc in high school and then enlisted after that. These songs are ingrained into my DNA at this point.
I love marches makes me feel so cool when I listen to them. Would have been really cool to see Sousa preform live. He definitely crafted the America march identity.
In my opinion, J.P. Sousa is the best march composer ever time.
These March songs will NEVER die.......Sousa was a GENIUS.....they were all PERFECT in structure and sound and what a Thrill it must have been to have heard these marches for the very First time when they were first preformed !!
Grew up on Sousa's music as my dad loved military and brass band music He had all his albums I was E flat Horn player in my school brass band Also attended heaps os military tattoos and police tattoos - grew up in Singapore
Marched to this music in a navy bootcamp # So Proud 1965
I love America forever!
The brave men and women who fought for Our freedom should be hailed as heroes who sacrificed their lives for Our freedom💯🇱🇷
It's not the 4th of July without Sousa marches
It's also not Memorial Day without this kind of music. It's really great. I like many kinds of music. Good marching band music is really tops. I also enjoy classical music. I hope you have a nice Memorial Day.
I wish some of the marching Bands today would play this and Stars and Stripes forever during the 4 of July. The Bands at one largest parades on the West Coast (In Huntington Beach) rarely if never play these songs anymore.
God bless America
Exactly playing them all Loud and Proud!
Awesome! The great music and no ads is rare and wonderful!
I came here to find this song from FB, this use for waking someone up. So glad! this is a song I remember, when I was young then, I love it! reminds me of when, there is a celebration happening at school. I used to hope that I’ll know the tittle. Its 2023! 30 yrs I waited for this. Finally❤
love all the Sousa marches i bicycle every day for at least 20 to 25 miles while listening mainly to his marches Truly inspiring patriotic music!!
I thank God Almighty for giving us a truly divinely gifted man in JOHN PHILIP SOUSA...his Marches will be indelibly printed not just in our minds but in every heart of any human being and will always remember these marches with tears flowing in remembrance of the heroic deeds and true love for country of those who selflessly sacrificed their lives for democracy and freedom. THANK YOU MR. SOUSA FOR THESE EVERLASTING MARCHES......FROM THE HEART......FM

I just love The Thunderer. When ever I feel bummed out I play this tune. It pulls me out of the trenches.
Sousa -- the best composer of marches in the history of music!
You know, there was a time in my youth when I took my father's word a little to seriously, and he is decidedly in the camp that passes condescending comments on sousa- and while there are a few gems out there like Verdi's Marcia Trionfale, and the French Foreign Legion's Boudin, I've frankly come to appreciate Sousa as bringing a fresh breath to the military march- Much more musical than so many other traditions. The German marches all tend to sound alike and quite militaristic (which I suppose is par for the course), the British are quite good but again they all seem to be quite similar... Am I mistaken? Sousa seems to just have a bit more variety.
And also we hammered the Germans into the ground. Which... there's that.
I grew up in South Africa. Our primary school principal made us march back to our classes on Sousa's military march music after school Assemblies weekly. Washington Post was one of the favourites. I still have images in my mind of GIs returning from WW2 marching in these tunes. I am 64.
Hello fellow American 🇺🇸 ❤️🇺🇸❤️it’s a great day.we salute the troops 💪👍🙏2021
I was in navy symphonic band and played tuba. I remember every single note I was playing in these songs.
I feel ba door tubas man. Gotta be boring
@@parkercorbitt5352 sometimes, but at specific parts, it gets fun for the bassline. Like in Stars and Stripes. And The Thunderer. I personally like playing the bass because I like supporting the melody and harmonies
@@Phin_Again I prefer to be a harmonic or to have the melody. Really it doesn't matter thoigh, I play what I'm given, and I enjoy how it sounds overall
I switched from flute to French horn when our horn player graduated. Boring parts for sure lol.
Was in the band in high school, too. Played the baritone. Can even remember the fingering.
I was a bannerette in my HS band. Sousa is a real pick me up today. It's victory music and we expect a big one!!!
Feeds my American soul to hear this.
John Philip Sousa's marches are the most stirring, and inspiring of them all.
I have memories from more than thirty five years ago, of my dad pumping iron while listening to this marches from an Lp player, God bless him and Mr Sousa as well!!
Me encanta las marchas Américas por su corte rápido y alegre.
As a classical musician, I always enjoy taking some to embrace the brilliance of Sousa’s compositions!
Bravo!
Outstanding! I love these marches more each year - God bless!
Stars and Stripes Forever, greatest march ever written !!
Only true if you haven't heard The Standard of St. George

Really love these American marching music. Love to whistle along. It's fantastic! It's soothing! It brings out a soldier's patriotic spirits! Tqvm Sousa for your fantastic march composition.
Sousa woud be proud to hear his music being played nearly 100 years after it was written.

I was raised on Sousa. A proud French horn player in the South Hagerstown High School Rebel marching band, 1982 to 1986. We won many awards and accolades in the day. I miss these days with my band mates. Thanks for uploading!

Sousa is the March King of the World. Not just America.
Yeah most marches around the world suck.
What makes American marches different form others is that ours where created during Peace time. While the rest of the world created theirs in war.

The school I go to was founded by John Philip Sousa
This is great! If you were in the military or in the marching band you definitely understand how special this music really is......
I love this type of recording. Back in the days when I was little, this was the quality of the recordings we had back then. You could even hear at 9:14 something that a cartoonist would use in some of his themes. John Phillip Sousa really was a talented man and he stood up for this country as he wrote many, many, songs honoring our veterans. I am glad we live in a country where we can show off our talent.
Hello. thanks for your time and your efforts god bless you and bless American people
Hands Across The Sea is fucking FIRE.
I am a Filipino and my Dad plays the Sousa album. Stars and Stripes, brings back memories with my Dad whistling with the music.
Same, he's been gone for 12 years now but I remember how he whistled to these. I never even had any idea these were US patriotic songs until I became a teacher.
I clearly remember these marches were played in school here in the Philippines after the flag ceremony on the way to our classrooms.
I grew up with these martial music of Sousa.
My freedom meter is ticking off the charts!
It’s played at a slow and stately pace here...unlike the 120 to minute called for by the military...its even more memorable. The notes really sink in!
I am a patriot,These marches are inspiring,
Yes they are! We need more Patriots to keep America American!!!

I know you probably mean well & I hope someday you’ll understand, if you’re disillusioned with the right vs left paradigm, you’ll continue to be just that, disillusioned. They’re two different wings on the same bird. By giving faith or support to either one, is giving your consent for this insanity to continue. Here’s an interesting story that may help clarify what I’m saying. I think you should give it a listen to & wish you well.

That was the best recording of the WP march I have ever heard. I played in a lot of bands and heard a lot of recordings, and I just now heard parts/harmonies I didnt know were even written because of the imbalance in most ensembles
It is the same for me. My group was called the Friday Night Jam, in the greater Chicago area.
