Capolavoro.

Such impressive music. Only found out about this composer cause another unjustly unknown Soviet great recorded some of her work: the pianist Anatoly Vedernikov

...it's taken me years of returning to Ulstvolskaya, but I think I am finally "getting" her. My perception has been that she is much more difficult to come to terms with than many supposedly more obscure and incomprehensible composers, most of whom identify as dodecaphonists. You have to stick with her obdurate-seeming music and face it, but then something remarkable and extremely hard (at least, obviously, for me) to quantify or express happens...

Thank God this is not the static music of Anton von Webern and his disciples. It is a modern music which people can relate to.

paul amrod Well said. This is totally uncompromising and listenable at the same time.

Webern's music suffers from horrible performances. His songs are difficult and are badly sung.

I think both composers are great in their own style.

@agaphonus I am sorry Bach was harmonic and Anton unfortunately not.
